XD XD excuse me for a sec XD XD

Some of you may have heard that Pierce Brosnan (sp.?) will no longer play James Bond (even though he promised) due to a disagreement with Sony (who bought MGM and now owns the rights to 007) about his salary (who was the greedy one, him or Sony?). After this, the actress who played "Moneypenny" also decided to retire from the 007 movies declaring that "it wouldn't be the same without him" James Bond website (www.jamesbond.com) <- check it out here

I wont argue about how good or bad this is, losing two key actors at once; especially in a movie that relies mostly on the actors, and that switching 007's has always been risky. I'm just informing you on who will be playing James Bond in the new movie (mind you, everything can still change, but until now, its been him)

James Bond will be played by this guy: you can see his photo here (http://www.peoples.ru/art/cinema/actor/habensky/)

How the hell do I know all this? well,
1) i read it in a russian magazine, a 20-word news flash that said so; credible? not really! so that's where my contact spring up (read 2)
2) a young theatre actress, close friend etc. etc., very famous in russia and all that, confirmed my words. She also said that "in the theatre underworld word was going around that this is true, and that currently Konstantine isn't accepting any contracts for new movies since he's getting ready for 007" (<- translated by me). Now, this is very credible, since this is what she's been hearing right and left in the russian movie biz. So, as of now, i am guaranteeing that james bond will be played by ^ that guy (unless sony changes it's mind)

Why do I find this funny?
1) look at him! I'm already laughing...
2) James Bond, world famous British Secret agent, is played by a russian (let me remind you that in half of the 007 books, all the mischief was caused by the Soviet Union). How ironic...

discuss!!!

YES!!!! I KNEW someone would start a thread on this soon! Ha ha ha ha ha, I'm so happy.

My favourite Bond has always been Roger Moore...but I'm hoping the new James Bond will be Clive Owen or Ioan Gruffudd-- more likely the former will get the part since the latter is younger. It would be very interesting to see James Bond played by a Russian....hmmmm????
Oh well, can't write anymore cause I gotta dash! Will return to write more soon. XD

And yes, I wish Samantha Bond were staying but she said in an article that she will leave if Brosnan did. Too bad, she is an excellent Miss Moneypenny.

James Bond films are getting rubbish anyway, so who cares about what actor plays in it? =P

Sean Connery was the best Bond ~

AGREED! Sean Connery was the best bond ever. I still enjoy the bond movies whoever plays bond. Personal favorite was Goldeneye and Octopussy.

hahahah... Bond played by a Russian, that's hilarious :heh:

I liked Connery and Moore, although I think Connery makes a better Russian sub captian than a Bond. Brosnan was alright...

I just really hope it will be better than Die Another Day

The hunt for Red October was great :D one of my favourite films.

I thought the film really sucked compared to the book, they changed just about every important thing it just wasn't funny.

*moves to Entertainment forum*

Roger Moore was my favourite actor who played Bond. Although I agree with Angelic, the new films kind of suck.

I hate to say it, but I agree with Angelic and Noir7 about the new films. Everything sort of went downhill after Goldeneye. There will never be a Bond film that compares with The Spy Who Loved Me, which was arguably, the BEST Bond film ever made.

Goldeneye was great too.

Goldeneye, The man with the golden gun, and Goldfinger are my favorite.

*goes to listen to bond cd* The London symphony orchestra playing Bond hits, ha!~

You know I just realized all my favorites have something to do with gold.

The main problem is that the films are becoming more and more American - as in big explosions everywhere. It sucks. I miss the time where the gadgets were actually cool and Bond didn't have to blow up half the earth to get the babe and get laid.

I very much doubt that this Russian actor will play Bond. More likely he's either a villain/henchman, or possibly a supporter/ally.

Uh no. His english is very good (good good), but Sony recommended that he take some English courses so that he can speak with a true British accent. My information tells me he's playing 007

I also don't think that a Russian would play James Bond, all the others have been from Commonwealth countries.

The point is just that any random person could scream they know who's playing the next bond and point to certain "sources". I'd like an official confirmation from Sony or any other party that's officially involved.

Im not random, ok? Hey, if I just read it somewhere then it would have been just a rumour - but I also heard it from people working closely with Konstantine Habensky (as in friend, colleage, lover, etc.) which makes it a lot more than just "another random geek making stuff up". Official confirmation will doubtly come soon - if it ever will. Right now they're interested in him. Tomorrow they'll pick Mel Gibson; these things change often...

You're still random to us even though you say that.

So the new actor to play James Bond was announced; Daniel Craig.

The new movie, Casino Royale, is coming out next year sometime. Here (http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/casinoroyale/site/) is the official website. Here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/4337224.stm) is the BBC news story.

Any thoughts, comments, etc?

THANK YOU.

I felt like such a dumbass when I noticed this thread after I posted that one. >_>;

So yeah, the official website names Daniel Craig as the new Bond. The movie is based off of the first Bond novel, so he's supposed to be younger, but Craig is like 37.

Director Martin Campbell said the 21st Bond film would be "definitely darker, more character, less gadgets".

I think that's a very good sign. The latest bond films were heavily overdone when it came to gadgets, cars, explosions and more like that. I really hope this new bond film will contain more character development and at the same time bring back the bond feel the most recent films lacked.
