RahXephon hands down. It did steal many comsepts and ideas for intro and whole sho alike from Eva, but I think Rah did it better. Better song, cooler idea, better designe and better all the way.B)

midori no hibi, the ending theme is quite nice as well.

Fullmetal Alchemist and/or Irresponsible Captain Tylor would be my champions. They're so different it's difficult for me to choose - I enjoy watching Tylor more but FMA has better artwork/music/story.

I forgot to mention the animes that don't have an intro are usually quite good. From the lack, they mannage to cram in extra story develpment. So those that do not have one, gets the plus from me.

Elfen Lied Lilium - Melancholy song with exotic sculptures. A sense of dead? The closed eyes of the saddened figures. I was intrigued by it,as if its a doorway to another dimension, its an opening like no other.

Shuffle! -YOU - Fast paced motion showing graphics. Always showing the girls sad eyes facing towards the sky and searching for hope. Quite inspirational. No matter what happens, i will continue to struggle, for time will never drown away my love for her!!!

DeathNote- The World- A sense of despair and dread engulphed me as i heard the song and watched the clips. As if i was being led into darkness, but there was still hope, hope for the evil? The opening is confusing and disoriented, but thats what makes it interesting :D.

Another song I loved from the moment I heard it. I can play this one on the piano! Soulful, and simply serene.

bleach...Dtechnolife does such good beats and melodies... good techno/rock style type music, it opens a new world to modern music. Cowboy bebop, like intros and endings. Has such great feeling and amp to it, brings the olden jazz bebop back.

Okay this is the perfect topic to rant about the opening of Nodame Cantabile. I've been wanting to for forever but didn't have the correct forum ^_^

I absolutely love the opening, it's a mass of intriguing visual colours and the music featured fits the animation perfectly.

I love the title scene where Nodame Cantabile appears on the checkered background and where chibi Chiaki is crying on his plane seat as the piano sheet music flies up into the air. These scenes are rendered so beautifully and simply with a white or black plain background overlaid with objects and colours. I also love how the end of the opening closes with the orchestra layout pulsing to the words 'I will live through this song (forever)'. I don't particularly like the last bit of the spinning doll object but I forgive them. The ending of this anime is also briliant with cloud and rainbows silhouetting Chiaki composing.

I also liked the Death Note opening, but I'm not as much of a fan of Death Note as I am of Nodame Cantabile - so I can't really give it a proper rating.

If anyone has seen Darker than Black, that has a good animated opening sequence too.
I particularly like the song they chose by Abdington Boy's School (sp?). 'The night sky full of cries. The contract is it worth the price, a soul pledged to the darkness' XD Very cute.

Oh! I completely agree. Nodame Cantabile has one of the best intros I've ever seen. The animation is just amazing and the music is fantastic. The best part is that the entire series is like that ^_^

hmm...I also like the Darker than Black intro but only the first one...the second one is very forgettable.

All of the Code Geass intros are extremely good too. I especially like the third one "Hitomi no Tsubasa" played by Access

The 1st Bleach ending theme is called "Life is Like a Boat" by Rie Fu, who I believe did a theme for Evangelion, or something like that. But personally, I like Amatsuki (it's a new anime that started last month)'s first theme, "Casting Dice." So awesome. Bleach ones are always good, except for that one opening for the fillers. I personally didn't like the DN opening 2; I liked the first one better xD And I also like Cardcaptor Sakura. All of them. Uhh. Kamichama Karin's first opening is pretty good, too.

OMG, i just finished the read of the 7 last pages and... Nobody mention "Egao no Ryuu" by Mega rock from Asu no yoichi! And yet, i think it's one from the best openings in the j-pop.

Apart this, if we forget the famous openings (as the Naruto's, Death note's, FMA's,..., openings), my favorites (in differents genders) are "You" by Yuria from Shuffle, the Ef a tales of melodies/memories ops (Also not mentioned !!!), the bakumatsu op, and of course Hishoku no sora from Shakugan no shana (But i love all the Mami Kawada's songs).

Futhermore, i think the openings of the comedies as Sayonara zetsubou sensei, Seitokai no ichizon, Macademi wasshoi, etc are often good.
