This is a beautiful song ^_^ . Piano throughout the whole song, thought there is a bit of strings towards the late middle to end, piano is the main instrument so strings are just an emphasis of the music from the piano. The overlap of strings pretty much just a repeat from the piano solo part.:lol:

I listen to the song either at my keyboard or at my piano. Listen, stop, fiddle, listen, stop, fiddle, listen and play what I came up with, write down if correct, try again if not. Basically, I write by ear.

Then I transfer that to my computer. I usually write with either Finale or Noteworthy depending on my needs, preferances, and what I have installed on my computer. Hopefully I can scrounge up $40 to buy the full version of Noteworthy instead of some crappy demo.

Eh... It also helps to know theory because most composers have a general patter of chords and stuff they use. Sometimes you can predict the next chord/note/etc.

One thing, is Suzuka an anime or game? I've never heard of it. :heh:

AHah I did theory. I hated it but I still don't think it helps me much since i just go purely by ear. I wish i paid more attention to it. Suzuka is a new anime that had it's first episode launched in japan around the beginning - mid august of this year.
