View Full Version : Any advice for Forum Newbs?

X
October 22nd, 2005, 05:21 am
Okay so my name is **Hinata** but just call me Miranda, it's so much easier remembering my own name. So I am a total newb at forums. My little brother hooked me up with this one. I really like it a lot. So if anybody can give me any good advice about foruming that would totally ROCK!

edit:OMFG! I found you! My first thread ever!

Rule 1. Read the FAQ and the pinned articles at the top of each Forum section.

Rule 2. Don't double-post.

Rule 3. Don't create needless or useless posts or polls.

Rule 4. Don't get on Angelic's bad side. (This can be easily accomplished by obeying rules 1, 2 & 3.)

Rule 5. Have fun -- or we'll poke you! :poke:

->Ichigos Forums Helpdesk (http://forums.ichigos.com/showthread.php?t=2291)
->What earns a member respect from fellow members? (http://forums.ichigos.com/showthread.php?t=5004)

->Don't use size 5 in your posts. (slam)
->Be happy with your User Name. If your not, you can change it in the Name Changes (http://forums.ichigos.com/showthread.php?t=1184) thread (slam2)
->Check ahead to see if a smimilar thread exists before you create a new thread (slam3 maybe)
->Be nice
->Check the FAQ (http://forums.ichigos.com/faq.php) Guidlines
->Type in a clear and percise way; no japanese or AIM speak.
->Contribute your thoughts of things. Even if it's the minority, the forum exists because of people's differing opinions.
->Don't do anything your Guardian would be ashamed of!

That's all I can think of.

The two sirs in above floors pretty much has it.

Read all the rules you can find.
If anything, type in default font size, not humongous text.
Look around the place first, and get a feel of how things are around here.

Don't piss the staff off.

Don't ever piss the staff off.

and of course..... just, have fun. Enjoy yourself. ^_^

Edit: Now.. if we actually have time we'd revise the FAQ's and create a thorough guideline that has everything you need to know. :stoned:

alternatively you can ignore all of the above and just have fun. :lol:

For a forum newb, i think sometimes it's hard to get into a community so fast. But if you post some interesting things in topics, involve in General Chats (best way to interact with ONLINE people, some days it seems like Instant Messenging XD), and also in the case of joining Ichigo, in my opinion you gotta be a bit more mature than in other forums (which i think it's great because everyone shows discipline)

ah i'll stop now XD

Pierce the way strikingly, and open your soul... don't hesitate the firm blade of morality and stand steadfast in the gust of opinion. At the same time catch it in a pail it may serve good for you. If acceptance is the keyhole than being yourself and having fun is the key.

Look for what you want and go for it, and try not to hide what's inside you too much. Don't be scared to talk about what you think is right and don't let people force you to beleive what they believe. also don't push aside what they have to say because you may like what they say. The rest should be simple

Cuz not only do you learn about people better, but you don't piss off as many people either. My foruming skills are growing thanks to all your help so keep posting and I'll keep learning.

While I am new to the Anime world, I've been using the internet for 13+ years now (before it really _was_ the internet) and it used to be nothing but email and bulletin boards. For those of you just getting into the world of online forums, trust me - we've come a looong way.

I must say you have a very interesting mix of people here.

Simple etiquette and respecting others' opinions are always appreciated.

I agree that noobs should be encouraged because they can only be noobs for so long, and they are probably really good at something else and will have much to offer once they become comfortable. It still bugs me when people use the word noob as an insult. We were all noobs once. That is all. :P

Because it's a pain in the ass when you can just hit the little button that says 'edit' ? :P Also, it makes you look like an attention seeker!

Ahhh, n00bness, I remember those days :D Uh, basically, don't spam - try to get around the different forums so people get to know you, but don't post for the sake of posting. Accept other people's opinions.

*grins* And if you're gonna make an RP character, read the guidelines or be prepared to get

a) Corrected
or
b) MOD SMASHHHHEEDDDD!! (note: I do not believe the global mods mod-smash too often :D It's just us purple people!)
