This is actually my first post, though I've been *quietly* listening to other's songs. (They're really good!) I posted one song (I don't know how to put more than one) looking for some suggestions, since everyone I live around refuses to listen.
I try hard, but I just can't seem to get it to sound... how I want I guess. What does it lack, or am I just hard on myself?
I'm sorry, I get really nervous when talking to other people, my heart's pounding right now... :heh:

It has a nice and flowing rhythm to it, but I feel as if the sythesizer(strings?) is just a bit too loud. You're a fan of panpipes aren'tcha?! They make it feel peaceful and relaxing. :D If you want, you could send me the MUS file and I can convert it to MP3 for you - can't guarantee it'll turn out too well, though... What program did you use to make it?

Hey that's great, It sounds like a Prelude to an RPG Like Where the Characters are sitting down on the porch and then you see a scroll. You pick it up...anyways, I'm getting off track. This could go in Noir7's RP3!!
10/10!!

Wow, thanks guys
I use Finale Guitar... not that I ever use the guitar part of it.
How'd you know I like panpipes??

Theres something about the start that bugs me. Maybe its the thought of: Will this go on forever?
It seems to just get higher and lower at the start and I don't find it very catchy.
I've noticed that its almost the same melody through the whole entire song and I don't really like that.
Overall though, I thought it was pretty good.
If you wanted a Rating: 7.5/10
Sorry, there was just something that I didn't like about it. -_-

Thank you for your opinion, I'll try to avoid being so repetitive.

Since I am composing music for an RPG, I can definately hear that you like Video Game music, hehe. This is quite good, I like it. It is a bit repetitive, so if I would choose where to hear this, it would be as a "menu theme" in a game, or when you can choose Load, Save, New Game etc. In other purpouses I don't see this matching. It has a good flow throughout the song, and the intruments you chose fit well together. The piano part makes it more exciting to listen to. You should try to develop some sort of melody with the panflutes if you want this to tell a story. I didn't like how the song starts though, but it gets better as the song carries on.
7/10 - Good

Repetitive isn't so bad, especially when it's in the background. Look at Pachabell's Cannon in D. The Cello never has any variation whatsoever. never. I'm actually a fan of repetition.
And I know I say this about everybody's stuff, but I would try and work on three or four really good themes and cycle through them instead of just wandering from one musical idea to the next. That's what most great composers do. Take a peek at Beethoven's 5th, Rondo Alla Turca, Moonlight Sonata, Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, even (and especially) in video game music. I mean, pretty much everything.
I'll give it a 14/20. But remember that no one here will ever get a 20, so don't feel bad. I was rather impressed. 20= almost masterpiece.

Wow, what can I say? That was pretty good! ^_^ You've got a good grasp of the composing mentality (that's the hardest part). Now you've just got to develop it, adjust minor things such as the repetition (as others have suggested), etc. You could add more material and expand it, because I felt it was too short.
Hmm, this piece sounds like it'd be fitting for a voyage on the sea. I can imagine the warm sun in the air and the cool breeze . . .

WOW you that's amazing!!! :w00t: (replays it again):music:
mmmm...it's so tranquile.. ^_^
When i here this song...i think of flying...sky gate...something like that... :heh:
I agree with most people here, it definately will work as an overworld theme!! :P
the strings at the begining..i think it's a little loud and maybe a bit choppy (is this the right word for it...i'm not too sure :heh: ) but once the wind instruments come in it sound spetacular (sp?)! When the piano started...the first few seconds of it stand out a bit too much i think~
i'll give this a 8/10
parts of this song reminds me of Motoi Sakuraba's older works...can't remember now (trust me...i know i worship him :sweatdrop: )
P.S: I love Panpipe, game music rules :gba: and the repetitiveness doesn't bother me so much
