Did a search, didn't pick anything up. Don't kill me.

Anywho, I think it's great, both the anime and manga. There were alot of unessescary random jokes though. :P

I love it. Especially Osaka's random thoughts XD

However, the changes made in the anime when it was translated into english: CRAP. Gotta love fansubbing :D

Actually the official sub was pretty good, and if you got the official DVD release by ADV it comes with a special booklet with a lot of translation notes aswell.

>.< I love the creepy teacher with the nice wife. The pool episode when he gets in was hilarious.

From what I got of it before fansubs was that they changed alot of the jokes to western and made Osaka from Texas...

They gave Osaka a Texas accent, because they had to give her some accent that they could fiddle around with, they couldn't let her speak normal American either. I don't like Texan at all but I think that they made a good choice with this one, really.

Also, of course they would have to change some of the jokes a bit, no English person would come with baku basu gasu bakuhatsu or whatever tongue twisters, so they had to replace it with something that would fit in English. Some language jokes that work in Japanese just don't work in English and therefore they need to be replaced in order for the anime to remain funny.

True, true. I still prefer fansubbing, I must say. However, I can't switch halfway through a series. If I start with the official dubbing, I stick with it. If I start with fansubbing, I stick with it. With Azumanga Diaoh, I couldn't get ahold of the DVDs quick enough and made an exception XD

I loved this series, but it has to be watched with the fansubs. A lot of the swearing was cut out of the DVD version (in the Australian release anyway) and Yukari sensei isn't half as funny in the dubs.

I think it's a great show, Tomo-chan is cool!

they had a dubbed? wow... that would suck! i tend to prefer subbed because there are just some things that the japanese say and do differently which makes it more entertaining

"Last night when I was all alone in my room, I smelled a fart that wasn't mine."

Random is good. Osaka is God.

I love that show. I loved the episode with the hiccups. Made me laugh so hard. Sometimes it's just so random. I love it. Cute too.

I also love err... the little girl's pigtails.

I've recently finished the series - utter crack and loved every minute of it. The sports day eps were among my faves. The soundtrack is really great as well - good summer music to listen to! Chiyo-chan is so squishable *glomp* So many anime characters that are meant to be cutesy end up annoying the hell outta me but Chiyo-chan is one of the few exceptions. I really like Sakaki as well, though all the characters have their moments.

Anyone picked up the manga Yotsuba& by the same writer? The main character's a younger version of Tomo-chan ;)

I think of Yotsuba as Chiyo with Osaka's brain

agreed. She is very stupid. she is probably worse then Osaka.

Yeah, that's pretty good - Chiyo, with Osaka's brain, and Tomo's loudness ;)

I like how sakaki is always bitten or scratched by the cat in the manga. Haven't see the anime before.

It's the same really. I personally think the anime offers all that the manga offers, but on top of that you get music and voices that perfectly match the characters.

I really think that the anime is better than the manga personally, or rather, it offers the same but in a much better package :P

My personal favorite was when Sakaki wanted to take a picture of a cat, and when the cat was cornered, Sakaki tried to take a picture, but the cat was jumping around the area so fast that she couldn't get a decent picture of it

Everything is funny in Azumanga.

Chiyo's Dad: In English: Hello Everyone.
Osaka: In English: Oh my god!
CD: How are you? Fine, thank you.
Osaka: Why are you speaking English?
CD:My daughter's going to America. In English: I wish I were a bird.
Osaka: Bird?
CD: No, I'm a CAT!
Osaka: In English: I'm sorry!
*Maya walks up*
CD: So you're a real cat are you? Look at my tongue! I have a cat's tongue! (That means you have a sensitive mouth in Japan)
Osaka: I have a cat's tongue too!
CD: Then I shall pull your tongue out!
