I think you should. Its a very good anime, sorta like Love Hina where there's not a firm storyline but more rather a series of events. Toru Honda or however say her name, her mom dies and she ends up hanging with the animals of the chinese zodiac. Except the cat and mouse don't get along, and there's lots of other unique things about the characters.

The characters are all unique in their own way which is what makes the anime really good, they can be distinquished very well. Some are quite and others are loud, then there are some that are hyper, and others just playing weird. The variety is great, exspecially when their personalities clash. Also, whenever you hug on of the humans that their original form is the zodiac, they turn into what they really are. And it must be kept a secret, so...

the person who sang the opening songs *and the ending song?* passed away earlier this year... ><

anyway, my favourite character is Yuki, he&#39;s got such a cool personality, not to mention he&#39;s good at martial arts and has a caring and warm attitude towards Tohru... but a lot of people seem to prefer Kyo over Yuki, I just don&#39;t understand *shakes head* ^^

I don&#39;t think you should put Fruits Basket on the same, low level as Lobe Hina. Love Hina is completely random and even at the end nothing has happened, while with Fruits Basket in the end an actual story developes, which I found quite touching. Fruits Baskets is funny and touching, while a story builds and the characters develop themselves. Love Hina did not have one of these (well, maybe fun but the characters hardly develop throughout the series and there was no story to it either) so please do not compare Fruits Basket to Love Hina, it&#39;s like comparing apples to oranges. I think Trigun would be a closer comparison than LH is, since in Trigun you first get all the silly events and in the end you get the more serious matters. The same happens in Fruits Basket - and actually a lot of anime. Love Hina is just the kind of anime that misses the serious bit in the end.

Anyway, Fruits Basket is great, as I said, it&#39;s touching, funny and just very enjoyable to watch. A must see for every anime fan :)

What he said, I enjoyed it alot ^^ found it really touching and warm, emotional, moving, and funny.... what could possibly be nicer? ~ one of my all-time favorites ~ taught me how to be a better person, and shown me how nice people can be..

Dude. Just come over and watch it. I have it all... Heh.

But Fruits Basket is awesome. My favorite episodes would have to be the last three. So very sad. Kyo&#39;s story made me sad also&#33; He was so lonely. ;_;
As far as art, its beautiful and just seemed to get better. Though it had a very girly hue, it was excallent.
The plot is also very good. They found a way to tie the Chinese Zodiac into a funny, sad, heart-felt, cute anime. ^^;
Overall: 9/10

well I cant find single place that sells it&#33;{evilness} oh well I cant see it on tv either but Kyou is how its spelled here for me sorry if yall spell it diffrent.

And the relation of oranges to apples is what I was saying; I was only giving a brief example of one single thing concept in Love Hina that was shown in Fruits Basket. I was saying they both were fruits, but other than that different. I was comparing them to this, how both animes there is not a firm storyline and there is a new type of episode each day (Ie. Tohru meets _____, Tohru gets worried, Tohru gets used to ______, Keatro meets ______, Keitaro gets along with _____) its the same type of concept. Your right, they have their differences, but overall, the concept of not a firm storyline but just the main character developing a better life in a different place remains the same.

Sorry for the weird wording, I&#39;m rather tired. I hope I explained this well and didn&#39;t confuse the mater more. I know your dislike Love Hina, and I know that there is a lot of difference, but I&#39;m just pointing out one similiarity. Yes, I know its a long post, just want to support me as best as I can.

I don&#39;t see the link you&#39;re trying to make. Love Hina is for perverts, and it&#39;s about a pervert who gets in an inn full of women, who continuously bash him and abuse him for their silly antics. In the end he still hasn&#39;t found the girl he&#39;s looking for if I recall correctly, and if he did, they didn&#39;t show it in the anime (Love Hina Again doesn&#39;t count, that&#39;s a different series). Love hina itself started with Keitaro being a nerd, Naru being a bitch, Suu being a childish brat and so on, and at the end none of them changed. Love Hina is about nothing.

Fruits Basket is about Honda Tohru who gets to live in the house of her classmate Yuki, who is the most popular guy at school. Then she finds out the secret of the Souma family, which is the transforming into animals when they are hugged by someone of the opposite gender. After a whole bunch of episodes that introduce a lof of the family members (which is all very entertaining and funny) the story around Kyu, the outcast of the family, start to develop. And there we are at the biggest difference, a story develops. Love Hina didn&#39;t have that anywhere. I think the story of Kyu is touching, I think how Honda reacts to everything and does her best to make the others happy is touching, I just thing the whole anime is touching, while at the same time it can be very, very funny. Love Hina was just perverted and a sad attempt of being funny, which it wasn&#39;t because they used the same jokes over and over again.

You&#39;re right, the way you put them together like apples and oranges is correct, but that&#39;s the same as saying "they are both anime" Next time, compare it to Pokemon or Dragonball Z if you will, that&#39;s the same thing :lol: You&#39;re saying an orange tastes exactly the same as an apple, but then different :whistle:

In the end he does indeed find the girl he was searching for (though since he loves Naru, feels diferent for her), and maybe Naru was a bitch and Suu a brat, but things did change. Keitaro and Naru fell in love in the series, Keitaro found the girl he was looking for, and like I said before, Love Hina goes around Keitaro&#39;s daily life; what its like. Yes, there is a lot of randomess in Love Hina, but I trying to compare how both anime&#39;s revolved around the characters life rather than a storyline.

This can be distinguished from other anime as other ones have a storyline. Naruto has the point of Naruto being Hokage, DBZ is Goku trying to beat Freeza, Cell, etc., Pokemon is Ash trying to catch all the Pokemon, but in Fruits Baskets and in Love Hina the storyline is not very well displayed and it is more about the characters life from a certain point up then other things-just like Great Teacher Onizuka. Again, Fruits Basket had a more solid and serious array of events while Love Hina did not, but I&#39;m not comparing to that. Does that make more sense if I put it like that? I hope so ^_^

So basically you&#39;re saying the anime are at first both more about daily life than they are about.. anything else? I guess you&#39;re right there, but there are so many anime like that, even Trigun is about Vash doing his usual thing until later a story starts to unfold. Pokemon is about the same, chasing pokemon is just Ash&#39;s daily routine you could say.

Guys, there is a Love Hina thread in here too.. :think: I know it&#39;s just comparing, but it seems like it&#39;s starting to become a Love Hina topic instead of a Fruits Basket one.

And if we were to compare Fruits Basket in there rather then here, would you have pointed us to this thread? I think its not only just comparing, I think its more of relating (which turned into comparing.) But I do see your point.

Yes, Angelic, that&#39;s what I&#39;m trying to say. I suppose you could count in Trigun and Pokemon as well (though I still say Pokemon is more of a long drawn out storyline like DBZ rather than daily life, but I can see how one can think of it like this, because it is also that too), its just that Love Hina is the first to come to mind for me.

Sorry to impose on you Angelic. Steering back more to Fruits Basket, I would have to say that this anime has some fairly decent music, though I think they could certainly use some more...memorable theme songs.

I love this anime. I love this manga, I love all the characters. Yuki and kyo and haru and momiji and shigure and aya and hatori and everyone are all mine&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33; *insane look* *ahem* I found that the manga explains a lot more than the anime, coz I just bought the first three books and it&#39;s so cool&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33; It&#39;s a bit darker as well, as it reveals the "dirtier" sides in some and you see inside the characters more....I think....(fangirl&#33;&#33;&#33;)

Fruits Basket is most likely my favourite anime ever&#33; The story is so sweet. The last few episodes were sad though. I kno a lot of people who don&#39;t like Akito but I actuallly like him. The manga explains a lot more than the manga. It&#39;s a little darker as well.

I have no idea....but for knowing a lot about fruits basket kariekh, I find it surprising you could manage to spell the title of it wrong...

I heard they are making the second season of fruits basket in japan... is that true??

I hope it is... they bring in the other animals of the zodiac and also talks more on yuki&#39;s past in the manga.... it&#39;ll be good to see it as an anime...

right now there are 26 eps, I was watching the directors commentary thing and Akitaroh Daichi, the director, said that he would like to go on making the series but I think he said something on that he won&#39;t anymore...or he won&#39;t, don&#39;t remember I&#39;ll watch it again if anyone asks.

That&#39;s what I heard too. (That&#39;s there&#39;s only 26 eps)

I read VOL 1-4 I'm now read ing VOL 5. I feel so sorry for Momiji.:( He has a mother that dosen't want to remember him anymore. But he still wants her to love him. Poor Momiji:(

i think Fruits Basket manga is really good :) i have only seen one episode of the anime but thought it was hallarious in one bit :D ...the only thing i would pass comment on is the fact that the writer tries to add a lot of drama and mystery near the end, and it seems a little stupid in bits...

Yeah, Shigure is just WEIRD in the DVD's...I'm up to Vol. 10 and my fav. characters have gotta be Yuki, Tohru, Kisa and Shigure (and Kyo of course!)

Hmm...my favorites have to be the Mabudachi Trio (in order: Hatori, Ayame, Shigure) and Kyoko (Red Butterfly! Banzai!)
But in a sense, I basically love everyone (except Akito..and maybe his mom when I get to that part)

I'm watching the anime right now, and I'm more than halfway through. I like it because it's very sweet and simple =)

I've seen most of the anime, and I've also read some of the mangas for this series. I really love the quirky style of humor that the series uses. :lol: While it does delve into character development, I can't say that this is one of the serie's strong points, since it's not really that involved. I can't stand the English dub for the series though. It's better than a lot of the other dubs I've seen, but Tohru's voice gets really annoying after a while, so I just tend to stick to the original Japanese voices. A cute feel-good anime indeed.

While the series has a certain charm to it, I really prefer the manga, since it has more parts than the anime, and there are also some scenes that I really liked, but they were left out of the anime. Grr. I LOVE the author's sidenotes in the manga though. They're really refreshing. The Omake theater bits are hilarious as well!

So far, I'd say that my favorite character is...erm...I can't decide! Well, I do like Hatori, Shigure, Ayame, Kyo, and Yuki. That's a pretty long list! I feel bad for Momiji, and I do like his manga form, but his earlier appearances in the anime were...rowdy... especially with his theme song going and his extremely loud voice. :lol:

I watched the anime but I missed the last episode which really bad luck because the anime was broadcast twice I think. The chinese dub was quite good I think.

I've seen a trailer for Fruits Basket anime, but I didn't like Tohru's English voice. I much prefer the manga. ^____________^ I <3 Kyo and Yuki.

yes, torhu's english voice was kind of weird at first, but I got used to it after watching 3 or 4 eposides

I've seen a third or so of the anime episodes and read the first volume of the manga. I love it already! L-O-V-E! We love Yuki! Tee hee, he's my favorite character. I don't actually love him, though.

=] I recently finished the series. I cried...too much lol. It was a cute series. A bit unbalanced, though. Almost all of the episodes were light-hearted, cute, and fun. Then all of a sudden the last three or so were heavy and intense. I think they could have spread it out a little more. But I still really enjoyed it ^_^

Ah, yes. Did you also find that the artist's style sort of changed? I thought that was just me; other people I know that've read it said they didn't notice anything... -.- Good to know I'm not imagining things.

*sigh* I noticed the art change since, um, maybe Book 7 or 10. It seemed that the change was a bit of a progressive thing, 'cause Book 5-7 art looks much different than the first one. Which to me is a bit of a shame, I liked the art in the earlier works.

For some reason.. I find that the new bunch of characters (Yuki's new group of friends, including his possible new love interest) is pretty much.. unnecessary... Unless they have an important role later on.

Anyway, is it me or does the artwork diminishes in quality from Book 6 on? Some people say it gets better, but personally I don't like it; I think it's also the way Takaya draws eyes.

The artwork, to me, seems to get hollow, almost creepy. It seems dark, and I think, maybe she did it purposely to suit the story.

Hmph. From reading the summaries of the later chapters, I have to say the first 10 books or so were the best part of the series.

if anyone here watches Ouran High School Host Club, a recent anime, there's a character called honey that looks uncannily like momiji, and sounds exactly like him too. Not to mention several other characters that are portrayed similar to some fruits basket characters too.

nope they can't do that cause its by differnet authors so it'd be illigal to take it like Tsubasa. Tsubasa was by CLAMP and all the other characters are all also from previous CLAMP books so same author, same material~

Well, it certainly isn't a bad choice, though it does have an episotic sense to it. Just about every episode has Tohru having an amaranthine smile on her face while meeting a new member of the Sohma family (the ones affected with the Zodiac curse). It gets repetitive, but it still remains refreshing, because it locks in a few characters.

I must say, I do like the ending of the anime (though it is incomplete). I guess this means I should attack the manga now......

Im just now getting into it. At first i thought it would be a terrible anime then i read more of it and im definatly starting to see why its so popular. My Fav characters have got to be Momiji and HATSUHARU!!! He just rocks end of story........(and his zodiac form looks soooo cute)

near the end of fruba, all of the of the Sohma residents are free-ed from the curse, a couple at a time, even akito and kyo are free-ed. Akito is actually a girl, her mother grew her up to be a boy, Shigure and Akito are in love with eachother and the reason why shigure doesnt live with in the Sohma house is b/c he was banished from akito to live in the house b/c Shigure slept with akito's mother, Kureno was actaully free-ed from the curse a long time ago so thats why akito probably doesnt want Kureno to go around to other places and doesnt want the other Sohmas to find out, Kyo and Tohru ACTUALLY end up together "srry for the Tohru and yuki couple people" and Yuki and Machi end up together "once again I'm srry for the people that like the Tohru and Yuki as a couple people". So yes...thats why i warned you if u wanted to read this spoiler with caution

The anime ended, and there's so much legal crap on it that you can only watch it in SPANISH..... T_T Stupid Spanish dubs..... Every now and again there will be a Raw is English subtitles, but the legal crap nerfs it in a few weeks time.....

The manga's finished, but the dub crap's still coming out in the U.S. Total fail. So does the English dubs. There's so many suggestive scenes in the dub..... =_=

What happened was they stuffed up on first season. They can't make a second season as they altered the first season soo much that it doesn't make sence if they followed the manga for the 2nd season.

This problem also happened to the anime Suzumiya Haruhi, but they are currently fixing that problem by including a few new episodes integrating it along with the old ones. They can't do this for Fruits Basket because as you know, it is an anime which is constantly flowing and linking. Haruhi links but it contains one off episodes, hence it can get away with it.

Hmmmm the only problem I see with a second season for Furuba would be Akito. Everything else should be easy to trasisition into.Personally I'd love to see Kureno and Rin in the anime. I heard some lie about them making more episodes in Japan- but obviously, I highly doubt that's true.

Also- could you give me a quick run down Haruhi? I've never quite understood it... @_@
