Wallpapers... An object of pride for some, they are a reflecton of a users peronsalites. The object that is ever present, and is often behind the scene. Both orginal, abstract, geometric, creative, and standard in style. This is what a wallpaper is.

Very similar to the "Post your Desktop" thread in the General Chat forum, the purpose of this thread is to provide sources for wallpapers. And, please, do not direct display your 1600x1200 pictures in this thread (consider the people with dialup for a moment trying to load a page of 10 desktops at that size; not good... But then again, I have XXX amount of pictures in this post...) (for those that do not know, that's where you use <direct link here>), and *takes in deep breath*

do spoil all the hentai/ suggestive pictures (no matter how softcore you think it is!!! - I don't want this thread closed because someone posted some hentai pic in the wide open; remember this is a family safe forum). To do so, type in the link information inside:

<put thumbnail or direct link without tags here>.

If you want to post up your wallpapers and dont' know how:

First off, I would suggest using the JPEG format for the wallpaper. It's lightweight, it'll be a faster upload, and the copy has minimal distortion from the orginal format. To do this open your picture in paint (or a similar picture editing program) select "save as" and under the File Format drop down select jpeg (or JPG).

Go to imageshack.us (1024 Kb limit) (they're going to hate me for this...)
Another site is www.imageknockout.com (which has a 5 Mb limit and Unlimited if you sign up) (no eMail address required!). Note: this site does not supply the THUMBNAIL feature. Copy the direct link box into tags to link to your pictures.
Yet another is www.picpile.com This site is basically the same as Imageshack, only it allows 2 MB/file.
XS.to also is like imageshack, only it hosts the files a little faster, and allows 1.5 MB/file.


Click the browse box and locate the picture - Click OPEN.
Then Select the "Host It!" button (or the "Upload the image now" button in Imageknockout")
It'll load for a min...
At this point you have two choices:

1. Use the direct link to image box (click once in the box, copy the text, and paste it in the reply box on this forum.

2. Select the "Thumbnail for Forums (1)" box (Same thing for posting it - click, copy, and paste it)

I prefer option two, because it'll give users the ability to preview the picture in a nice small thumbnail (like all of them in this post), gives the resolution and the size, all in one package.

Another way it to have Ichigos host it. Click the go advanced button and down at the bottom of the screen you should see a box followed by a button called "Mannage Attachments". Click it and a new window will pop up. Locate your picture by using the browse button and click open. It's basically the same procedure without having to deal with a large amount of text. The size of the file is a lot more limited though (Ichigos= 97.7kb Imageshack= 1024kb A 99.91% decrease, not to metion it wastes Ichigos hard earned webspace.)... So I'd suggest using Imageshack.

haha im surprised that out of all the wallpapers you posted you managed to dodge every single 1 I have. I tried uploading but the files were too big. what are the ways around it mies

@Sephiroth: Whoah... Just how big is your file? The last time I checked Imageshack can upload pictures of up to 1024 KB in size...

Try using XS (http://xs.to/)'s site. They allow 500 Kb more than Imageshack.us (a total of 1.5 MB).

Imageknockout (http://www.imageknockout.com/) Allows up to 5 MB. If you regeister (no eMail required) you get unlimited file distro (Which I like :)). Select "Thumbnail for a fourm" and copy that text - blah blah blah.

If you don't like any of the above you can choose to lower the filesize (this will lower the quality and clarity of the picture). A program called Picasa (http://www.download.com/3001-2193_4-10356847.html) can reformat your picture to a smaller size.

What you do is select the picture in the browser, and in the "file" dropdown menu, select "Export to Folder" There you can lower the slider bar for JPEG quality (that is if it's a JPEG) to about 80 or 70. This'll lower the file size quite a bit with little decrease in file quality (well... It is detremental to the Visual Quality, but it allows you to share it, right?)

Those are my suggested soulutions.

Looks like picpile (www.picpile.com) works. They allow 2 MBs per file in size. I'll get to work on finding a host that can carry larger pics and offers thumbnails that WORK.

I don't want the thread erased because of "somewhat inapproprate" materials were openly displayed. Some people think that Ecchi type wallpapers are just as bad as Hentai, and both should not be available to the general public.

My thought pattern differs slightly from that. I feel that art is art. A wallpaper is a form of art and should be displayed without restrictions. I like the pure amount of attention to detail done in ecchi wallpapers, and I feel they should be availible for everyone. So, to suit to everyone, and appease the volcano gods, I have taken the middleground so that it is available, but only to those that choose to look at them.

That is why all underwear, light clevage, and suggestive wallpapers are spoiled, along with my own reasioning behind why I think we should spoil them. I don't want one crack to go and ruin everything for everyone. I want this to be sucessful and somewhat thriving (I'm sure it will grow with time) thread.

And no I haven't forgot about this thread; I'm still sorting through the lot of them (I've finished 2.45 GBs of them). All that's left is a quality check (basically skimming over them all and making certain that they are not too flashy) and then sort out another 4 GB worth, not to mention a duplicate check on all the folders :sigh:; and then the acursed uploading of DOOM!.... ).

Suprisingly, no. They don't charge me a single bit.

You know the people who make these anime wallpapers are teenagers like us but they might have an issue with mass distribution of wallpapers that they made without gaining the cred for making it...

If they have an issue, they should put their name on the wallpaper and link back to the source. I see your point, but if they were that conserned with the credit, I would at least expect some type of watermark. I have no pity for anyone who does not put some identifying trait on the art and say they want credit for it.

Sorry to say, I gave up on it. I had three seeders for about 286 miliseconds and they decided to delete the torrent, and my brother stealing 99.9% of my upload speed isn't a good help anyways.
