The only legal way to download anime is through unlicensed animes that fan-subbing groups so graceouly translate and distribute. These sites are large databases of those groups. Catch the anime before it gets licensed!

Only other way is through IRC. Which can either be very messy, or very clean; depending on the user. I can't help you there though (I've never done it). You'll have to find a tutorial on how to download on IRC. You just have to find out where the subbing groups are located under IRC.

*goodluck*

But... You see, that has licensed anime on it... And that's illegal in some parts of this forum.

It can be at times. Like most P2P clients. What you can do is check the Grand High Licensing List (http://www.animeondvd.com/licenselist/) and that'll tell you. The keep it pretty up to date. That's what I do to find out if something is legal to download or not.

And there's always the "emulator clause." What that basically states is that if you have already properly purchased the anime, or manga, or anything at that, you are allowed to keep as many personal copies as you'd like, so long as you do not distribute them to others. I do this a lot because I do not like how most anime companies "Blot-out", and translate anime, so I go out and find a fansubbed version of it that I find satisfactory.

I've tried realitylapse before for getting my Bleach episodes. (Yes, it does contain licensed anime in addition to the unlicensed ones) I've gotten viruses on two instances while visiting that site. :( The first time, my Norton Auto-Protect detected some viruses as soon as I entered the site. I didn't think too much about it at the time. Not long afterwards, I went to the site again, as if the first time wasn't enough, and Norton went crazy again. This time around, it was pretty serious, and it took quite a while to de-virus the computer. I'm not saying that the site is the culprit, but I generally don't have issues with viruses, and those last two instances did occur while on realitylapse. It's also loaded with annoying popups.

If you want to give torrents another try, I'd suggest trying out the uTorrent program. If you're not sure how to make torrents work, you could check out a tutorial or ask for instructions. Anyways, uTorrent takes up very little operating space, and it's functional! I'm also seconding the animesuki.com recommendation, since you can find a lot of unlicensed anime there.

Anotehr choice is Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/). I personally use this client. If found it worked better than ABC, uTorrent, Bittorrent, Bitcomet, Bitlord. Especally if you download the muli-port trackers (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/plugin_details.php?plugin=multi-ports) plug-in (http://azureus.sourceforge.net/plugin_list.php). It does use java (http://www.java.com/en/) (meaning another download), and I did get a virus once (I'm pretty sure it was a fluke, but it did say it was a java related virus... I guess nothings perfect), but if you master the program, you can download at extremely high rates without killing your I-net connection like most BT programs out there.

The only problem I really did have with the program is when you have more than 140 torrents running co currently, and that's because my system ran out of ram (It was taking up about 800 MB of it X_X). The program does get thick when you have a lot open at one time, but, hey, it's up to you on how you use your machine.

I defantely would suggest looking at torrents once again... It's pretty hard to find anime, now-a-days, that are not in torrent format.

If torrents don't have seeds, just give IRC, eMule, or maybe even DC++ a shot.
