Should I make my own PC or should I just buy a Alienware or from ABS.com And configure them?

If I should make my own PC can someone help me with making my Ultimate Gaming PC?

Thanks

First off... Go Falcon Northwest. IMO, they're better than Alienware, but that's just me.

When it come down to if you want to build your own computer or purchase a pre-built one, it all depends on how much you want to spend, and the amount of control you want to have when building it.

Just because I'm savvy in computer terms and usage, I would build my own, but I can't help you with that right now. Sure I could give you the components for the absolute best rig that could ever exist outside of the governement, but it would be up in the US $18,000 (thats a rough estimate). If you give me a price limit, I might be able to come up with something for you.

M is right, you'll need to decide how much, what CPU, motherboard, video card sound card, hard drive, if you have any preference, (generally the big things today are CPU and video cards), are you after a SLI/Crossfire setup? Do you want a dual core processor now or later when for games support them? Etc. Etc.

Build your own defintely. I'm building my own soon actually. Also, in the end, it will be MUCH cheaper.

God man, you should wait for Memorial Day sales or Black Friday.

Now, you can build a freek good computer on a really small budget. If you shop around, you can get good things for less then 500 USD. Heck, my brother has a really good computer that costed him 300 because he went around on Memorial day looking at sales.

Wait a bit if you can. But you miss Black Friday. Should have shoped then..

I can have them so when the games do use them I don't need to go out and buy it later. I will/can spend up to $2,000-5,000 USD on a computer that will play game the way there suposed to be played.

You still really haven't told us really what you want, other than a top of the line stuff. Do you have any idea?

Ok here's what I want:
A computer that's fast and has GOOD graphics. Maybe a ATI Radeon X1800 XL, Nvida Geforce, or a ATI graphics card. A 160 GB Hard Drive. Not sure about what CPU and Motherboard i want.

I hope that helps.

Well most people say that AMD Athlon Chips are a lot better for gaming than Intel's Pentiums. As for graphics, are you after two graphics cards or just one? Two has the advantage of better proformance, but the power and cooling requirments for running them are higher, of course keep in mind that a pair of 6600's can be beaten by a X1800 XT, if you are considering the X1800 series try to spend a bit more and go for the XT 512 edition, it would be well worth it, I hope. As for hard drives, I've got a 160 Gb Western Digital right now, it does rather well and I have a friend who also uses Western Digital. On hard drives you'll want to be thinking about a RAID. As for mother boards, decide what else you want on your system, then find a motherboard that suits it.

Okay thanks pifish.
I can use the dual graphics cards, of Nvida Gforce or ATI?

And which is better Nvida Geforce or ATI Graphics card?

And whats a good size monitar? Is 19" ok?

And is there anything else I need that I'm forgetting?

Thanks

As much as I love ATI, their getting their butts kicked right now by the Grforce 7800...

Also, If you go with a flat screen monitor, but very careful. The color can be a bit off at times, but unless your really picky about it...
^__^

Im building a machine for one of my clients right now

CPU: Athlon64 X2 4800+
Board: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
GPU: Dual GeForce 7800 OC
Sound: Soundblaster X-Fi
RAM: 4GB PC3200
Storage: System drive:74GB Western Digital Raptor
Secondary: Dual SATA Seagate Barracuda 500GB in RAID 0
Tertiary: Dual ATA Hitachi Deskstar 500GB in RAID 0

Throw all that in a Thermaltake Armor tower....

Yeah...

Thats pretty much the best gaming machine I could think of, He was in the same situation. Probably if you find someon who knows what they're doing They sould be able to get it with a decent monitor and speaker system for aroung 4K.
If you get one like that, though, make sure it comes with a bootable restore disk and full documentation.

If you do want a name brand however...I definately put in a good word for Falcon Northwest.

Hope I could be of help to you.
