Today is Mozart's 250th birthday! Use this thread to say something you like about him or some your favorite pieces of his.
I love how he can write the most versatile melodies using just a major chord. Listen to the Allegro movement of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik or the beginning of his Tuba Mirum. Also, his phrasing is spectacular. (He's my favorite composer, by the way.)
Some of his pieces I love:
"Recordare" from his last Requiem
"Domine Jesu" from the same
"Kyrie" from his Mass in C minor
"Laudamus Te" from the same
His entire 20th Piano Concerto in D minor (I love pretty much anything he does in D minor.)
Papageno's arias, especially his duet with Papagena and his solo before that.
"Madamina" from Don Giovanni
The Overture to Don Giovanni
"Se vuol ballare" from The Marriage of Figaro
There are many, MANY others, but I'll leave some room for the rest of you.
Brief anecdote:
I once accidentally stood someone up on what would have been our first (and consequently last) date in order to get the score for Mozart's Requiem in D minor.

@Darksage: Hey now, he's my idol, I'm nothing compared to him =P
@Alfonso: I remember that anecdote!
Happy birthday Mozart! As a kid I used to celebrate your birthday (and death, haha) xD . . and it's all because of you that I started composing, so thanks for your wonderful music =)
I can't be bothered to go through the 30+ Mozart CDs I have (yes, 30+ ^^"), so I won't go through my favourites.

Yeah, I'm more than slightly pissed that my University isn't doing anything. So, I'm throwing my own "Mozartparty" (the effect is lost since it's essentially the same word in German and English) in which we will speak German, watch Amadeus, and poorly sing arias from his various operas. I call dibs on "Non più andrai" and "Der Hölle Rache!" (in falsetto, of course.)

Some of my own favorites:
Symphony No. 25 (Played at the beginning of Amadeus.)
The late Symphonies: Nos. 35-41
All of the Masses. (And he wrote a *lot* of them!)
All of the Sacred Music. (And he wrote a *lot* of it!)
A Musical Joke.
The Organ music.
The Concerto for Flute and Harp.
The Requiem.
There's actually plenty more, but I'd be up all night trying to remember and write it all.

Here's a cheesy joke from my Band teacher about Mozart (Kind of off-topic):
"Hey, too bad Mozart isn't composing now eh? Well, now he's decomposing!"
Hehe..
