Why do I have a feeling that A-bon is just trying to either A) Piss people off. or B) Get in as many posts as he/she can.
Anyway...

Finale is nice, but NWC is a great program too! Although, it can sometimes be crappy when using triplets/tuplets in a song. Is there anyway to make triplets/tuplets in that program when changing from midi form to sheet music form?

I have this horrible feeling that A-BOn isn't actually French and can speak English perfectly as sometimes his post are perfect and sometimes they're terrible.

Well, Finale Notepad 2003a ofcourse, Sibelius, Mozart, Midi Maker and Midi-notate are the only good notation software that springs to my mind. Have fun with them :) - I recommend Finale Notepad 2003a!

My opinion:

NWC is the best fast program to do composing. Finale is overrated. Sibelius 2 is the best program out there once you get used to it.

Your probably thinking of the free trials on Finale, they're overated! The payed ones however are extremely good!

I'm going with Blackmage on this one... Also, Finale is faster on my computer for some reason... especially when it the songs have 8+ tracks on them.

I bought Finale. It really is overrated. It's a great program, but inputing notes just takes too long. Sibelius allows you to "type" in the notes quickly.

Really? That sounds pretty convenient. Is there a free version, or do I have to buy it? How would do you sharps and flats?

You can download the trial version from the site. I believe there is a hot key for sharps or flats that you press before inputing the notes. Also, the page layout formatting is much easier in Sibelius than in Finale. You can put things in the places you want them to be without much trouble.

I don't actually compose anything in Finale, but I have fixed a few notes in a couple of songs that I have and it was kind of a hassle(hastle?)...

I usually use NWC to compose (just because it's faster) and I use Sibelius to print out my music.

If you want to, you can download all these programs from Kazaa. I don't encourage this though.

Try Music Write 2004... It is a little different from finale, but just a good.

What are you talking about? Sybelius is harder when it comes to note imput and sibelius is extremely over-rated, and priced.

Well, I guess has to do with the difference of opinion. I mean, I was once a Finale fan myself. I bought the software and used it for a number of years. Then I tried Sibelius and thought it was wonderful. There is also Encore. It's a free program that works pretty nicely.

sibelius is the best... it owns the rest of the other programs.... that's all i can say... buy the full version...or get it off a friend... trial just sucks cause you can't print (you get a SAMPLE across the sheet...)

Sibelius is only for beginners, the payed Finale 2004 is hard to use but if you know how to use it right, you can get excellent results.

Finale 2004 is $600

PrintMusic is $69.95... This is still a full-featured application, which will do almost everything you need (this is what Sarah made all her sheets in)... it just doesn't have some of the REALLY advanced features of Finale.

NotePad Plus is $24.95.. which might be ok for simple compositions and transcriptions. Check out http://finalemusic.com for all their products
