My brother says that the InuYasha Season 1 DVD Box set can fit on a 1GB Mem. Stick. I say that it woun't fit on a 1GB but maybe a 2GB Mem Stick. So who is right.

He is goint to but this on a Mem Stick and then watch it on his PSP. (He wants one for home viewing and one for on-the-go viewing. I know stupid but hey I can't stop him)

Thanks:)

Anime thread?

Well.. PSP uses MP4 encoding which supports varible bit rate. The inuyasha box set #1 contains 18 episodes. It can sway in both directions; it all depends on how high of quality you implement when re encoding the files.

Reletavely nice quality would be ~100 MB/file (avg bitrate: 550; maximum bitrate 1100; AAC 96kbps sterio) which means 1.8 GB total.
He would have to go half of that (~55.556 MB/file) to fit it on a 1 GB stick of memory.

Mind you, these figures do not refelct changing the resolution of the video; which will drasticlly change the filesize. He just might be right... But I'm too lazy to figure out what the Picture:Filesize bitrate ratio is for MP4.

But what I do know is the screen size for the PSP ("I-don't-know" fps @ 480 x 272 pixel, 16.77 million colors) As opposed to an average DVD file (24 fps @ 640 x 480 pixels "I-don't-know" how many colors)

You are both correct, but as Mies said, it all depends on what codec, compression, and actual demensions of the video files.

You could probably squeeze it onto a 256 MB stick if you really wanted to. The quality will be crap but it is possible. On the internet you sometimes find anime episodes that are smaller than 10 MB. The quality is lousy but hey, it works. I used to download DBZ (long time ago) and the eps were about 40 MB each and good enough to watch. Don't expect great sound or image quality but I could watch it no problem.
