Do you know any good RPG´s preferably for PS2 or Psx.
post the name and some info on it...

I´ll go first

Star ocean: second story

wonderfull game for the playstation, two discs. LOTS of items you can create and find, lots of different characters (wich ones u get depends on choises u make in the game) there are two main characters to choose from in the begining. the story is very cute and have a really nice twist. LOTS of secrets and a cool battle system. if you´re only looking for nice grafics this might not be the game you´re looking for.

8/10

Suikoden II.
Format: PSX
Genre: RPG (with a few strategy elements)

By far one of the best rpg's I have ever played. You start off by patrolling your army's encampent with your best friend, Jowey. Until soon, it gets attacked. You find out the man behind this ambush is Luca Blight (damn evil dude!).
You and your friend escape by jumping in the river.

Your character gets found by none other than Viktor and Flik (they appeared in Suikoden). Flik and Viktor take you to their fort. You start doing errands for them until eventually, they trust you to join their army. You then start by finding recruits for the army.

MUCH later on in the game, you get your own base and the more characters you find, the bigger your castle gets and develops, a few minigames also become available in the castle (the cooking minigame being one of my faves XD)

The soundrack is also good, it's memorable to say the least, but nothing special.

The most people you can have in your party is 6. Some of the characters in the party can do a group attack, depending on who you have in the party.
Throughout the game, you will have war with other armies. The battles involve a bit of strategy, but it's not too difficult. You click on a unit and choose where to move them, who to attack etc.

The graphics are not the best, they're 2d but that doesn't prevent the game from being better, not at all.

It took me about a week (unlike the Suikoden 1, it took me a single day to get all 108 characters x.x) in the game beating the game including unlocking every single 108 stars (characters) in the game, with the best ending. There are more than one ending, depending on what you chose to do later on in the game (can't tell you ;p) or by unlocking all 108 characters to unlock the best ending.

I just couldn't stop playing this game, it's a masterpiece and it's not a very popular game too.

If you have a save file from Suikoden 1, the main character from that game appears in Suikoden 2 and can be added to your party. But you need to be right near the end of Suikoden 1 to do this.

Rating: 10/10
Summary: By far one of the best rpg's around, it's got one of the most memorable characters in an rpg game and definitely one of the best plots to an rpg game, but it's not that much of a popular game. This gem is also rare to find in the shops, so eBay is your best choice.

I agree suikoden 2 is a really good game! have you tried suikoden 4, its cool but not as cool as 2..

Yes, I have Suikoden 1,2 and 4. Shame 3 didn't come out in the UK, I heard it was good. Then 4 got released here and ended up being a big dissapointment =\
I'm waiting for 5 ^_^....hope that gets released in the UK

I got suikoden 1, 2, 3, and 4 :shifty:
...until my older brother took them with him to college :(

imo:
1 is really good, and 2 is even better
3 was pretty bad in terms of graphics, but overall gameplay was o.k. i guess, nothing special
4 was a great improvement from 3, but still falls behind suikodens 1 and 2

but overall, Suikoden II is probably by far one of the best rpg's around imo

i mean damn, i did the whole clive quest thing, got all the characters including mcdohl and even saved nanami and got the "best" ending
and i suddenly feel the need to get a life
(runs off)

Hehe, I beat Suikoden 1 with all 108 characters (with the best ending) in a single day, so no, you're not the one who needs a life :heh:

Name: Lufia 1 and Lufia 2
System: SNES
Creator: Taito

Lufia 2: Maxim is a swordsman who has known swordsmanship ever since he was born. No one ever taught him, he just knows. One day a ball of fire flies through the sky and strange things start happening. Monsters appear more frequently than usual and they start attacking people. They also become stronger. Maxim is send to a cave to retrieve a key that was stolen by a monster and there he runs into a young woman who tells him that his fate is to fight the evil that is coming upon the world. After this Maxim starts to travel the world, meeting all kinds of people to in the end battle the four sinistrals: Gades, Amon, Erim and Daos. They are the masters of evil and want to destroy the world. It's up to Maxim to stop them.

Though the story is quite corny (Evil threatening the worlds and you're the hero who has to go and save everyone) this is one of the best SNES RPG's around. I'm sure Square fanboys will disagree but I don't care, Lufia's one of the most enjoyable games I ever played. The game has a great battle mode, nice graphics (especially the big spells are great eyecandy) and the characters are well designed. The music is great and the whole game is good for several hours of good fun.

Lufia 1: I'm putting this game after Lufia 2 because Lufia 2 is actually Lufia 1's predecesor (sp), meaning the story of 2 takes place before the story of 1. Anyway, you're Maxim's decendant (sp) and you're living a peaceful life. Then one day you go to a nearby kingdom because you heard rumours about it being attacked by monsters. You go there and find everybody gone or dead. Then you run into a man who claims to be responsible for everything. When you ask him why he did such an evil deed, he claims to be pure evil. In fact he's Gades and it seems that the sinistrals who were defeated in the past are rising again to destroy the world.

So L1 plays after L2. Problem? Not really. In fact, the game starts exactly where L2 stops, the battle against the sinistrals. Of course compared to L2 the graphics are a big step back. In fact, they are pretty bad at some points, but not as bad as for example FF4. The music is okay although the boss tune is quite short so it repeats itself all the time. The standard battle music is some annoyingly hyperactive tune nobody will ever like. The battle system itself is also annoying, because you select what kind of enemy you want to attack. If you have two jellies and a newt against you, you can't pick one of the jellies. You'll always select both of them and then the computer will pick which one you'll hit. This is very annoying because if one's almost dead and the other isn't, you'd prefer to kill off the first one so it can't hurt you anymore. You can't choose that though, very frustrating sometimes. Other than that it's a good game with lotsa fun.

Ahh yes Lufia 2, how I loved you, course over here it was simply released as "Lufia" or at least the copy I played, and of course there are the puzzles in that game, which I thought were great.

Cave Story is wonderful!! the fact that it really is a nice game, just goes to show that 3D grafics and emotion engines arent all that important...

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

One of the best freaking rpgs I have ever played. Ever.

Then there's Fallout 1 & 2. Diablo 2 for you old schooled guys, Xenogears if your into extremely deep storyline, Xenosaga if your into watching games more than playing them.

I also recommend Persona 2 if your looking for something different, yet at the same time, refreshingly awesome.

They don't make rpgs as good as they used to. =/

Grandia III. It was just released this month and I really enjoy it (The battle system is a complete successes. However the story and sidequests are just mediocre in someway.)

Finally, another Fallout lover.

Diablo 2 is lame singleplayer, and nothing but geeks in b.net when you get to hell difficulty.

KOTOR is brilliant, much too short though. I found it too easy as well.

Is your Location: thingo based on the Beatles song?

Rubbish.Ah, I suppose you're from the Minority that doesn't play to "look for runes and items and shite"? For us that's where the fun lies. But if that's not your type of game you can always open your own game, password it, and invite your friends. Don't blame us if you don't have friends to invite to your game - you don't like playing with us anyway. B)

Diablo is fun for about, a few days, then after that it gets kinda repeatative for me. But, if your that kind of person, I guess you'd find it fun.

Ah well, not everyone is same.

And, nope, just a coincedence regarding my location.

Weeeeell my definition of fun doesn't include doing runs and runs over and over and over and over and over and over again just to find certain items to use or trade. Would you say starting off on a fresh new character is more fun than finding items and leveling up at high levels? I just find it too much a linear game, there's only so much you can do.

My cousin's a pretty die-hard D2 fan. I quit a few months ago.

COUSIN: Hey man, I finally got my pally all geared up and shit.
ME: Really? What are you gonna do now?
COUSIN: Ohh I dunno yet
ME: Make another char?
COUSIN: Hmm, I dunno, nothing to do anymore

A week later I asked him if he still played and he just said "Mehh, I'll probably just give all my shit away"

Have you killed the ubers? NOW that was a glorious battle. My shitty bone necro who would get killed in a single blow casting bone prison everywhere, ohh man that was cool.

And the ubers are . . . interesting.

I would guess that any more offtopic conversation coming from us would earn the ire of the Management, so please continue your D2 discussion in an appropriate thread.

Final Fantasy X

Graphic: 9.5/10
Gameplay: 8/10
Music: 9/10
Difficulty: too easy. I have the NA version so there are no Dark-aeons to fight :(
Characters: 10/10. 6 characters are good enough. Too many take long time to train

Star Ocean: Till the end of time

Gameplay: 9/10
Battle System: 9.5/10 - The battle system is 3d, which is also a good transition from a traditional RPG battle where you can run around the enemy.
Graphics:9/10
Music:7/10 - None of the songs are catchy to me. They were either dull or not interesting IMO.
Difficulty: 6/10 - The battles became pretty easy later on in the game, while some just overkills your character without knowing. Some dumgeons were quite hard to pull off, but that makes up for the easy battles.

My 2 favorites of ALL TIME are.

Brave fencer musashi - 10/10 Kept me addicted for so long. Requires good reflexes and brains for some of the puzzels.(made by SquareSoft, I hate square Enix for buying them out but still love their games)

Mario super saga - I loved this game alot but only kept me interested for so long. 8/10

Finaly fantasy tactics advanced - for some reason i kept playing this @.@ 9/10

Partners in time is the sequel to super saga. It wasnt as good as the first one and was WAY to short. Beat it in like a short few hours

Unfortunately, I never really had a chance to play Superstar Saga, but everyone keeps saying it's better than the Partners in Time. It's official. Mario&Luigi-Superstar Saga is the next video game i'm gonna get.

Xenosaga is a good one. I only have the first one but its an awsome game. A good number of characters. But alass it is a LOT of cut sences which take a long time to get though. The music is great too. And is it a bad thing that I like the song that plays when I die?
