Me I guss it started with DBZ on late nights when i never wanted to sleep and seen Adult Swim and got hooked on cowboy bebop and trigun:heh:

I got hooked on anime with Gundam Wing, i had seen DBZ first, but gundam is what really brought me in

mE...I STARTED WITH VIDEO GAMES! HAHAH....ACTUALLY..IT WAS FRUITS BASKETS...THEN....NARUTO. BUT BEING ASIAN..I SUPPOSE ITS IN THE BLOOD? ^_^

Cardcaptors (yes... The piece of crap english version), Robotech, and *gulp* Sailor Moon. I was in that age that many people stop watching cartoons and switch over to sitcoms, soap-operas, and other "human" shows, but I remained in the cartoons catagory. It wasn't until just recently that I started to follow anime avidly (2003).

^Sounds like me. Except I started with digimon (Blargh), Tenchi (not bad), and Outlaw Star (I love that show.)

It all started when I kept hearing about Neon Genesis Evangelion Cowboy Bebop on the internet and wanted to know what they were, so I looked into anime and realized it was good.

I pretty much ignored Anime televion shows and films, until I actually decided to watch the film "Mononoke Hime". I am glad that I didn't ignore it! Now, I am busy tracking down Studio Ghibli films!

Tenchi Muyo, Gundam Wing (damn straight), Cowboy Bebop, and finally Outlaw Star are what brought me in. It wasn't till about middle school that I found out they were in the category anime. I hate to admit it but I was a pokemon finatic in 5th grade, that probably got me hooked on it as well.

I think I was pokemon that got me into anime. Then It was Tenchi Muyo. I hated DBZ, until a watch a few eps. then I liked it. G.Gundam (Love this anime) And I was in Elemetry school when watching Pokemon. And 6th into 7th when I started watching Tenchi Muyo, DBZ, G. Gundam.

Pretty much most American anime fans (at least around 15-20 now) will say they got into it watching Toonami, Pokemon, and Digimon. I know I did. And I still watch those. but I didn't get really into it until my freshmen year in high school. That's when I started reading manga a lot. Then I got money and started buying the anime.

yup i remember now i used to watch tenchi and sailormoon becuse it came on in the mornings when i was like 8 ,I WAS A BIG DBZ FAN OF BROLY(sadly i still iam :D) pokemon vedio games yup and dbz digimon to ...........now i love evangelion and action anime some kinda gory like AKIRA was one of my favs. esacflonwne,ghost in the shell stand alone complex

When I got into Love Hina, I started to get addicted to anime. I used to watch Guyver and Fist of the North Star when I was about 9 or 10 but I stopped after a while. So yeah, I guess Love Hina got me back into anime.

I think the first ones i saw that got me into anime were Cardcaptors, the few Visions of Escaflowne that i've seen (>.<), and the first episodes of Pokemon (those were cool BTW XD (I have no regrets! XD XD...ok, a little)).

...but i've never really been too into it until after some time has passed and i saw excel saga. XD

then i actually started to look for anime that'll make me laugh, but then i saw others like Cowboy Bebop, and so on...I've still haven't seen too many, but i'mm getting there. ^.^ yay!

I somehow got into it by my own accord, I don't know how...I just started watching it..also, when I realized that I liked anime...I was watching "Flame Of Recca" and my favourite character on my sig XD

i loved anime since i was small buti guess waht really got me intersted with anime is mermaid melody pichi pichi pitch.

pokemon (english dubbed =|) every morning before school on tv. I got up early just to watch it and taped every single episode (until it got too long). Then I started watching other ones like rurouni kenshin. I watched sailor moon and doraemon when I was really really young, but I didn't know they were anime.

I got hooked after discovering it on Youtube. XD Well, it started with Tsubasa and I thought it was good so I started to watch the rest like Fruits Basket... ^_^

When I was really young, I watched alot of Speed Racer, Sailor Moon, and DBZ. I didn't know it was anime. Then Gundam Wing came on. Oh.My. Can we say addicted? Cheyeah it was originally Gundam Wing. From there on I got addicted to all anime. If it's anime and I have the channel, I will watch it. ^_^

I think it was Cardcaptors that got me into anime.

I think it was really DBZ that started me off. I loved Pokemon too though. I'm pretty sure there was a vast majority who loved that show. I have to admit now that the games were way better.

I actually didn't like DBZ to begin with, but my friend loved it to death. When it stopped running on mainstream TV and was only shown on subscription TV she begged me to tape it for her (since I had subscription TV and she didn't). I watched a few shows when I taped it and then I feel in love with it.

Unfortunately, DBZ and a small group of other animes were the only ones which where shown here. The good animes are only shown for small periods late at night (adult swim and SBS). It's really hard to find any others. I've only recently began to look into it.

I got into anime when I started watching Fushigi yuugi. That was a GREAT anime series man.

Pokemon was probably the first anime I started to watch. There was also Cardcaptors and Sailor Moon. But the one that really started getting me into anime was Trigun.

Saw Pita-Ten, cute, got a little hooked, but not for long
Vision of Escaflowne just sucked me into the world of Anime

hmm interesting story: I was 4 years old watching TV and THERE! It was Sailor Moon!! lol then other anime shows like Inuyasha, yuyu Hakusho, FMA, Naruto sucked me into their realm :worship:

I started DBZ at 6 yrs old ^_^. Read the manga in my language and that led to Dragon Sign (If you translate from my language), then Captain Tsubasa, now it's too many too name.

i read a post earlier in the thread about how most american anime fans are into it because they were watching pokemon and the like 5-6 years ago. and thats pretty much verbatim for me. (i is 19 now)

For me it started with DBZ, then it went on to outlaw star when i stayed up and had nothing to do. Then i found out about more series like naruto and bleach, and now im hooked to anime XD

I used to watch Sailor Moon when I was a little younger, but it really didn't get me hooked, I became an anime addict after Angelic got me started watching NGE.

It was on TV, to think of it, I think I started watching anime a long time ago. Just not the popular ones.

.hack//SIGN (Yeah, I was a bit too young to be watching this at my age of six lol)
Inyuasha (Again, I was six, and shouldn't have been watching)

My sister got me into anime. She liked to watch Sailor Moon which I thought was kind of silly, but then I got into it and really liked it. Not long after that I saw Tenchi Muyo and after that I was hooked into anime. The current anime I'm watching now is Eureka7.

I remember my friend Cyndal was all crazy about Pokemon and told me a lot about it.
When we finally got the channel that it aired on, I watched it like an obsessed Harry Potter fan would watch Harry Potter movies.

In no time, I had tons of cards, plushies, and even a shirt.

I soon outgrew Pokemon and began to understand the similarites between it and other anime shows, which landed me where I am, still obsessed yet in a more mature way.

Now I'm more of a Hellsing/Azumanga Daioh kind of girl. XD

i used to watch anime, then i heard of naruto and my friend told me to download it...and sort of got addicted and am now wasting hours of my life at the computer watching anime

I'm not sure how I got hooked into anime.. O_O (dense memory.. sort of.. I'm good with tests and stuff though!!) I think I was watching the magic of television.. and then I see these bizarre creatures that have hands and feet, and they act and talk like us!! and later on I found out... they were anime characters!!! XD but... that was when I was in grade one.. I think.

well... i couldn't tell the difference between mangas and animes until I was 12 years old.. I think.. O_O but yeah... now I know!!

I started watching anime when I was younger.Like..7...My first was Card Captor Sakura.I didn't even know what I was watching but now I know that Ccs was my first.

kind of a long story. my cousins left the last two tapes of Escaflowne at my aunt's house. i was bored out of my mind and she didnt have cable so i watched them. with only seeing the ending, i wanted to see the rest of it. in the end, i completely LOVED the anime, watched the series 20 times and then i found out anime could be DOWNLOADED on the internet! so, that's how i got hooked onto anime and i'm currently watching 8 different series right now. lol.

My best friend called me one day in the summer holliday 06 and start to talk "OMG!! I watched this asskicking thing to day! It is sooooo silly, the main character is named Kira, and it´s a boy!"

Well after that it did only go 2 weeks before I was doen whit Gundam Seed the 3rd time, so now am I also doen whit GSD and watching FMA

Yeah I got into the Anime scene first watching DBZ on Cartoon Network when I was about 8.

I then started to watch other random Anime's as they came and went on Cartoon Network, then .hack//SIGN came around and I really got into the Anime/Manga scene.

I never had cable, but my family went to visit our relative, and all I remember is watching Akazukin Cha Cha. Once we got cable, DBZ, Sailor Moon to Zoid New Century Zero and it grew from there.

It was pokemon(But I didn't know it was anime) And then G.Gundam, And thoes other shows. Back in the day when Toonami use to come one from 4-5:30.But mostly from TV/Friends :D

It was kinda random how i got into anime...My cousin actually introduced me to it last year! and now i am totally into it.^_^ I watch it almost everyday!I started out with naruto.. then fruits basket then a whole bunch of other stuff.Right now, my main thing is The Prince of Tennis.It was all because of I think the 4th issue of shonen jump. It came with a free sneak peek DVD of it and ever since I got it, i have watched it 5 times already!(my sister saw it 6 times)

I had watched Digimon ever since I was maybe 8 or so, but at the time I was too young to realize that it was a Japanese animation.

A few years later, I saw Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, and DBZ back-to-back on Toonami. That pretty much got me hooked.

Pokemon really brought me in...It was during afternoons when the shows started...I was about 9 years old when I started to watch animes but I really got addicted to it when I saw the 2nd episode of Pokemon and also I got into Pokemon cuz of the R/B/Y versions of Pokemon,I was like crazy playing my Gameboy...

Aww! I only really got into anime a couple of years back; a friend of mine kept bringing manga books to school like FMA and God Child (<- ridiculously good manga x_x ) and sort of subtly poked me into watching anime on youtube. But once you've seen some, you just can't get enough of it :sweat:

I watch more Disney Channel than Anime. I guess it's just the way I am. :p

yeah it all started with.....pokemon....I moved to a new place and everybody liked it so i watched it to fit in... then i saw dragonball Z once i got cable.... and G-gundam.... then i hated anime for about 5 years.... then gundam wing just had to suck me full force into it. Anime has actually made me a better martial artist....its weird...some stuff in naruto actually work

I saw Sailor Moon and Pokemon and Digimon when I was a kid, but Dessie introduced me to Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 in year 8, we had our own cosplay party and the rest is history!

It started for me as a kid watching Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball and later, Pokemon. After that, we got teh internets hooked up and I discovered the joys of fansubs. Since then I've just been watching everything I can. The obsession is still growing.

You know you've got a problem when your friends give you an Akatsuki robe for Christmas and your first thought is "Aw... I wanted to be Yumichika..." :P

^Yeah, I was a huge Digimon fan. I was always into cartoons and comics and one day I found Shonen Jump and got huge into Naruto and then my anime and manga addiction grew.

DBZ was the only reason i started watching anime. then i saw things like cowboy bebop and...i forgot what it was called but it was somewhat like cowboy bebop but it involved races and stuff.

i actually only watched teen titans but then i also watched 5 mins early, so i also caught a bit of naruto, and there was a funny bit so i kept watching it :D

I have been watching anime since before I even started school. (starting with my Neighbor Totoro lol:heh:) My dad loves anime and nearly every night, my brother, my dad, and I would either watch anime movies on our dvd player, or sneak into the basement and watch anime series on his computer since my mom absolutely hates it.

All my friends were watching Naruto. That's how I got to watch anime all the time. But my first anime was DBZ xD

I went over to India (to visit some of my family, most of which live there) and watched Animax for a bit. Saw Witch Hunter Robin, and I was hooked.

:lol:One of my friends a couple of years ago bought every manga in the Chobits series and I asked her if I could borrow them because they looked good. She said I could and I had them all read in about 2 days. I looked online to find information on them and I found that they had anime to them to.

I looked online to see where I could download them for free and I found a site called veoh.com. It's free and most of their anime that I look at is in Japanese with English subtitles. I have noticed that anime in English isn't very good to me and that the ones in Japanese with English subtitles are very good sound quality and much better over all.

I downloaded the whole Chobits collection, watched them all and I thought that they were very good. I then went on amazon.com and I purchased the cd collection of chobits, and that was also very good to me. These sort of stories are very touching to me and they make me feel all warm inside.

Love stories and this sort of anime makes me happy and sad at the same time, because I still haven't experienced love, happiness, and the joy of someone who loves you with you forever.

I then downloaded the whole Love Hina collection, watched them all and it made me feel the same way, just like what Chobits did to me. I ordered all the music online at amazon.com

Then I went to Yumeria and that show was just funny and entertaining. I enjoyed it a lot.

Then I came to Eureka Seven and this show did the worst on me because this show in my opinion has a lot of love in it, and when it comes to love I always get all happy and sad at the same time. I would totally recommend this show. It's nicely written, and has very good characters. I purchased all the music online at amazon.com and I enjoy the music very much.

I am watching Tokyo Mew Mew right now, and I am enjoying the show very much. It has love in it, but it also has a lot of laughter in it, and it is funny.

Ever since I started watching these shows I have been wanting to learn how to speak Japanese and learn about their culture. So I purchased Japanese learning software and a Japanese, English to Japanese, and Japanese to English dictionary. I also purchased a Japanese grammar book, that I am using. I purchased all of this stuff on amazon.com. So if you are interested in any of this stuff, just take amazon.com a visit. I might take a Japanese class over the summer this year. I think it will be fun and I enjoy the Japanese language a lot.

I started to get into anime when I saw my older brother made his child manga (squares/ robot types sketches) and tried to the same as his (this was when I was 7-8 and he was 10 or so. After that I watched a few anime (in Vietnam) and began to draw anime characters. I am very fond of drawing female characters. But now it been years since I quit drawing... for about 7 years now I think... and currently am 22. Recently I just saw Air Tv, Ah my Goddess, Bamboo blade and re-read beserk made me want to go back drawing. Now I'm practicing from the beginning.

Last year my buddies introdouced me to Adult Swim and I loved it!

it's all because of sailormoon...i just couldn't see how dumb usagi was,(well, probably it all started with astroboy and nausicaa of the valley of the wind, but i had no idea that those were anime...i was too young then!) but hey, it got me started on anime! :)

Pokemon and Sailor moon when I was like in the 3rd or 4th grade I think. The old pokemon was fun to watch since it was more interesting to watch because it was less cheesy and suprised me with some of the things they had on there. lol It took me like 7 years to find out they had a transvestite on there once. Sailor moon well.... lol for those who watched it, you know why. :heh:

I was originally taking Japanese at the time and I had a really funny Japanese teacher. She was trilingual and she like anime ^_^ I watched Ghibli classics, but I didn't really get into it until much later on. I had a really big fight with one of my best friends about a science project. There were three of us and so the other friend chose a side...which wasn't mine.

It was then that two wonderful people came along and helped me redo the entire project in a day so I wouldn't flunk my class (while my other friend kept all the work I had already done =_=), you can see those wonderful people lurking on the forum.
Anyway, we realised we liked either anime or reading and started to get along really well...which is about the time I merged into their "group".

The first anime that probably inspired that friendship was "Inuyasha". I think we found the manga at a public library and started to get into it. Which then lead to cosplay and anime and then Japanese culture in general.

I'd seen stuff before of course XD I loved Sailor Moon as a kid, just like I loved Ninja Turtles (but I had no idea what a ninja was really until Naruto...*performs seals* lol)...but yeah it wasn't until later on that I really got into it.

Now I'm a seasoned pro. Can only watch the creme da la creme (no idea if that's right and really don't care ^_^).
