i've set the violin down for a while maybe 6 months or a bit more and i'm still a beginner. i've been trying to tune it and when ever i do 5 seconds later it's back out of tune.it's really frustrating! :cry: also we r remodeling or house and my parents don't want to turn on the air conditioner and it's like 70 degrees in our house, maybe more. can ne 1 tell me if it's the temperature and if it is how can i fix it?

It may be because the strings need to stretch. If your violin strings are rather new [or if you haven't played your violin for a while], then at first they will fall out of tune often. Sooner or later though, they should be able to stay in tune longer.

Do you have a teacher? If not, I suggest you get one to help you with tuning. [and of course, to help you with left hand position, bow hold, ect.] :)

ok thanks. i don't have a teacher and i don't think i can find one. i've looked before and could only find one that was two hours away from my house. i had a teacher when i first started in New York though so i do know some of the basics.

hm... if u want ur violin to stay in tune, when u get the pegs in place push it in really hard. my violin is like that too sometimes.
and it would b great if u had a tunner. AND take good care of it because i lost mines. xD

^^try that too, if that doesn't work though I would think it's because of the strings though.

It's too bad you don't have a teacher, if you go to a school that has an orchestra I would suggest joining. :)

i also go to a small school. around 230 students and it's K4-12 grade ^^;
it used to have a band but the principal said it was costing the school too much money blah blah blah...

i'm gonna try and get a tuner as soon as i can. i have to find a music store though....:\

I can try and find you a website that has the G, D, A, and E tuning notes.

*goes off to search*

Here's one that will work for A, D, and E. Use the violin sound for A and the piano sound works for D and E.

Now to find G. :)

Or..Here's a better site. http://mrfiddle.com/htm/tuning.htm
