So, I'm tossing the idea of a Southern California meetup around, and what better place to meet than at the largest Anime expo in the US!

Exact details are forthcoming, but for now drop your name if you are interested

Where: Anaheim, CA (Anime Expo 2006), probably outside so anyone just wanting to meet can without buying AX tickets
When:July 1st or 2nd, exact time TBD.
How :huh:: Once we know who is coming we can arrange a specific place to meet.
Why: Because we can! :P
What: After we meet, we can walk to one of the many eateries in the area. After lunch, we can all walk around in Anime Expo 2006, go to one of the AX concerts, etc... For those who have never been to AX, check it out here: http://www.anime-expo.org

Well, for anyone who wants to try and meet up, let's try to meet Saturday just inside the main entrance at 12:30. The seating for the CLAMP panel starts at 1pm. I'll be wearing a black t-shirt and have a big green camera bag. My badge has Gand and my name (Aaron Zink) on it.

Well that was a waste of time...

After circling the convention center for 40 minutes waiting for them to open up a parking area, I finally parked ($9 parking) and made my way to the "speedy pre-registration" line. Speedy my ass. I waited for 20 minutes until I reached the end of one of the line snakes, then realized that this was only one of at least 6 or 7 snakes. No f'in way I'm wasting 2-3 hours of my life in a check-in line. So I went back outside, checked out the cosplayers, shot some pix, and looked around to see if I saw anyone from Ichigo's. I'll request a refund for my ticket.

I don't think I'll go back next year, unless I can get another press/industry pass or join the staff.

PS. If you are going Sun, Mon and/or Tues and haven't picked up your badge holder, I would highly recommend going late at night or VERY early to be one of the first in line.

That's a shame! But thanks for the tip...however, I'm going with my sister, cousin, and my sister's friend...and we're all very capable of being late X.X I think some other people should start holding another convention in the area around December-January.

yeah, a smaller winter convention would be great... I just got a press release that said they are estimating over 30,000 people. It's getting ridiculous.

If I visited these forums more often, I would have seen this thread and maybe showed up lol Anyway, I got my badge holder June 30, when the line was non-existent. The CLAMP panel was extremely controlled. Informative, but some people were disappointed. I wasn't since I got their autographs.

Nope... Getting it June 30th was a good idea, but it's a 45 minute drive for me to do that, and frankly the reason I'd want to pay is for the concerts which they didn't have this year. The clamp panel might have been be worth it if I was able to get the badge holder quickly. I'm waiting for my refund.

I still highly doubt I will go again unless I can get on the staff, or another press badge.

But yeah, hmm, there are a lot of other conventions tooin the SoCal area actually. Ani-magic (Sept. 29-Oct. 1; Lancaster, CA); Mikomi-con (Oct.13-15; CSU Northridge..run by their anime club I think); Anime LA (Jan. 26-28; Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys, CA). At least those are the ones I'm going to. And then there'll be AX at Long Beach next year. I'll be there for sure. :lol:

But yeah...we had to circle around for parking too (that's why I'm staying in a hotel next year...I hate wasting my time like that, and I don't like missing out on fun late night things). In the end we just parked at the Hilton parking a few times, and the convention parking like once. We definitely weren't going to walk in that heat to save a few dollars. And then the badge line on Saturday was horrible, even though I pre-registered like before Mar. 15th, I was stuck in line with people who registered in like June....>.> that's my rambling hehe
