For some reason, whenever I put my shoulder rest on and I play my G string, it sounds.. corrupted. I know it's not my violin or the string, because when I take my shoulder rest off, it sounds perfectly fine. This did used to happen, but not as much as it is happening now.. I've been getting very aggrivated with this and am considering giving up shoulder rests completely [considering I have been playing the violin for a long while an dI can hold the violin very well, with or without a shoulder rest.. Though without is a bit more uncomfortable.

Has anyone else ever had this same problem? If so, how did you deal with it? Did you figure out what the problem with the shoulder rest was? I'm thinking about getting a new shoulder rest completely, but I'm afraid I'll just be wasting money and that that shoulder rest will not work well either.

Thanks for the help.

WEll, I know nothing much about violins but why don't you find a store that allows you to test them. That advice seems point-less.

The only music stores that I know of here don't let you to test their products.. But it's aight now. I met up with someone who has had this problem and it has been fixed. Thanks anyway.
