Since this one wasn't requested, I'll just stick it here :P I wanted to capture the feel of playing this song on the (computer) keyboard, so I tried reproducing 16th runs, jackhammers, and jumping octaves...

I'm having an especially hard time with the ending though...suggestions would be appreciated :)

EDIT: ToS Fighting of the Spirit added because I can't find the original one...I guess the thread died :(

That was.... awesome! XD What's the original piece from? Very very catchy.

Although, the bass may be a little repetitive but I still enjoyed it.

Haha, I never thought anyone would bother making a "piano version" of these sorts of pieces - if anything, it's usually the other way around (technoy pieces taking excerpts from piano pieces, and this one does just that). I gotta give you props for the arrangement though - it does indeed capture the feel of the original. Unfortunately, the bass notes sound really weak and boring on a piano, so you might want to change them up some more to make it more interesting.

Thanks for the suggestions, sepharite and shizeet :) I'll see what I can do about the bass...unfortunately, in the original, it's usually a single note played over and over >< and I stink at bass...they either end up monotonous like this, or monstrous like Passion :P

I like everything for measure 21 to 88. The begining just didn't seem to catch my attention and the end just didn't seem to fit. Maybee at the end you should go into a rit. and work your way into a bum bum bum ending (like half note, half note, whole note with the same chord). Nice Job by the way!

Cleaned up version of Passion :) The 2nd half of page 2 is now realistic :P the rest of the song actually isn't that hard; it's just a matter of getting the fingering down...

Superb Arrangement of Passion.

All right, I heard your arrangement of Passion.
I thought it was amazing. =]
It sounded like a piano collection, or something. The only problem I had with it was that the melody was sometimes unrecognizable, especially during the chorus part. But you can ignore me because I cannot arrange for crap D:, and that just might be your style.

BTW, did you hear any of Josh_Barron's Kinghdom Hearts arrangements on the SquareSound.com forums?

EDIT: How old are you? Erm, no, I'm not a stalker, I'm just wondering.

tanonev
June 6th, 2006, 05:28 am
Thanks Maestro and Teddy :D

Actually Teddy, you have a good point...the melody is pretty hard to pick out, especially the way Finale plays it...it's not quite so bad when a human plays it (at least, I think so...I need to record myself playing it or something just to make sure :P). If you put an accent on top of every melody note in Finale at the bottom of page 1 and all of page 2, it'll sound closer to what I had in mind.

And I just listend to Josh_Barron's arrangments, and I'm amazed :D Personally, I think he (she? our Josh is a girl) takes a few too many liberties with the song, but the overall effect is great. But the notation (s)he uses is a little odd...(s)he seems to be a big fan of sharps, even when enharmonic flats/naturals would be much easier to read...plus I have yet to meet someone with hands big enough for that Hollow Bastion arrangement (which reminds me, I wanna arrange Rebuilding Hollow Bastion :D)

That cow Passion arrangement...er...no comment...

And I'm 18 years old, just like my profile says ;)

My first 2-piano transcription :D Now that I look at it, I might have been able to consolidate it into a 1-piano piece...but doing it this way was easier :heh:

Second piano has it easy...but at the repeat sign, you can switch parts since both people play the same chord...

August 3rd, 2006, 08:10 pm
Yes, I can play the piece ;) I've been playing piano for nearly 13 years, though, so that helped me out a lot...and I never took the time to memorize the piece, so I can only play it through if someone handles the page turns for me...

I'm still learning "A Fight to the Death", though. There may only be 16 difficult measures, but those 16 measures are brutal, especially when I can't get regular access to a piano :(

Oh my!... Your Passion arrangement is amazing! It's so... it's so...wow. I swear I stopped breathing. I have been looking for a decent version since forever. It sounds great, even on Finale. If it doesn't take too much time, could you please make a copy without the second part (red notes)? I'm new to Finale, and too afraid to mess with the arrangment.

Please and thank you!

windangel
October 20th, 2006, 02:41 am

One-piano version :) You'll have to work out the fingering/hand order on your own though...the only promise I can make is that there is a way to do it comfortably, even with relatively small hands (you still have to be able to reach octaves comfortably, of course).

Wow ... I could only just be bothered right now to request a new password and I'm glad I did. I've been looking for Passion/Sanctuary sheet music for a while and I only just remembered about Ichigos. Tanonev, your arrangement is, to say the least, outstanding. This is based on the MIDI file, which someone else provided, but I believe it to be your piece still, right? Well, I just want to thank you for doing this. It will take absolutely forever for me to get this right [I'm only a Keyboard player myself, but I'm trying to self-teach myself Piano ... I'm failing :P] but I will hopefully manage to do it.

I intend to play Hikari, which I also got from the main site here, for my exams at the end of this year. If I can, I'll add Passion to that. So, in the mean time, any tips for learning how to play it? :P

tanonev
January 20th, 2007, 05:59 pm
Try learning Passion Edited first :) The hardest part of Passion is that section on the first two pages; the edited version greatly simplifies that section.

The other thing that will help is recognizing scales and arpeggios inside Passion. That way, you can rely on technique/fingering you've already developed from practicing scales and arpeggios.

Wow "neoMax" is really a nice one, even if like the piano one more than the original techno^^
I heard it and I was like "Wow, if God could speak, he would speak like that"...
/worship
But damned, It's too hard for me, nonetheless it's really outstanding !!

Btw, what's the difference between the first and the second version of neoMax ?

tanonev
January 22nd, 2007, 04:43 pm
The second version fixes some of the stuff that I didn't like in the first (the left hand on page 3 was really fatiguing, and you can get virtually the same sound in the second version with half the effort; the ending was reworked in an attempt to make it sound more logical). If/when you're going to learn one, learn the second one :)

Your arrangement of Passion was beyond gorgeous. If you are up for a challenge, I would LOVE an arrangement of Another Side from Kingdom Hearts II. (Technically, the version from KHII is called Organization XIII and is basically a less epic, repetitive version of Another Side.)

Do you guys think a beginner like me can play Passion edited before the end of May?

If you can read notes: it depends on how much work you put into it, if you practice all the time I'm you would get somewhere, but if you're like the average piano player who practices 1 hour~ a day, it'll be very hard.

(I remember how I learned Lizt's Liebestraume when I had only been playing piano for 2 months, but I finally was able to play it because I just kept practicing!)

And this piece needs serious key signature management xD

tanonev
March 30th, 2007, 03:29 am
Here's the PDF version of this. Also, I think measure 46 could benefit from a little explanation. Some of you here might be able to pull it off as written, but I sure can't. (Note: Please don't take this as a challenge to play it as written. Keep reading and spare yourself a lot of trouble :P) However, there is an easier way to play it. Take the bottom half of the second and third triplets in each group in the left hand instead of the right. If it still doesn't work, skip those bottom second and third triplets in the first two groups, since those are the hardest jumps. If it's still too hard, you can drop those notes entirely. No one will notice ;)

There are also some right hand chords in there that are too big for most hands. Try out the following in this order:
1) Take the bottom note(s) with the left hand.
2) Roll/break the chord.
3) Drop the notes that contribute least to the chord (i.e., you always want to keep the melody, so drop them off the opposite end if your hand doesn't reach that far).

Speaking of which, a lot of the chords are meant to be rolled, even the ones I didn't mark in. You can add rolls in to see what suits your fancy. Also, in measures 24 and 28, the left hand rolls should have the bottom notes start on the beat.

For the passion arrangement on finale, what part of the song (lyrics) is being played on page six, third line? i've heard it as a midi before, but i can't follow it

tanonev
March 31st, 2007, 02:18 am
http://www.lyred.com/lyrics/Utada+Hikaru/Passion/Passion/

That's the block that starts with "Zutto mae ni..." It isn't in the opening sequence of KHII (English or Japanese), which has that segment entirely replaced with "My heart's a battleground...", complete with a different melody.

bloody hell Fighting of the Spirit is hard to play:lol: Does anyone have a midi or something, so I can play with what it's supposed to sound like?

Great job btw. Don't want to think how many days (years?:P ) you put into this.

edit: nevermind that, i just found out you can play mus files

Ano? When is this song played in KHII? I don't recall (plus her game broke)

This song is from Tales of the Abyss (during the credits), not Kingdom Hearts II.

The first piano's right hand part should be played with both hands. I haven't tried to figure out the fingering yet. Also, there are some issues with the way the bar lines ended up, as I'm still getting used to the software.

Optional trills (I can't figure out how to add trills):
Measure 32, Piano 2, Right Hand
Measures 39-42, Piano 1, Right Hand (strongly recommended)

Optional grace notes before the right hand second piano chords in measure 13 (C above middle C, followed by the D just above that).

The midi got messed up somewhere towards the repeat sign; for some reason, it sounds fine the second time around.

Oh, and I should probably figure out how to add titles xD

Hey, Tanonev. I hope you don't mind, but I made "Je Chante Pour Passer Le Temps" a little more eye-friendly. Whenever the right hand goes up into the altissimo range, I added an 8va to the score. Now people won't be having to count ledger lines lol. I know I hate doing that.

EDIT: I also added pedal releases. As it was before, when played, all the notes would blend together, ultimately leading to chaos lol. So yeah, it has a much cleaner sound now =]

Your arrangement of fighting of the spirit was superb. Detailed, yet playable.
I've seen too many arrangements of that song that require your fingers are quadruple jointed... or something like that.

If you're talking about the arrangement done by Andy Nguyen(?), the one that's posted on the first couple pages of the thread, then I will gladly covert the midi into an mp3 file for you. It'll all be a piano instrumental though.

It's been a while...another straight transcription. Might have some accuracy issues, and the full orchestra section towards the end is...well, I basically just cut out the orchestra part =/

And this piece needs serious key signature management xD

I don't think this will help much... but if you want to try to transcribe it, I remember from years ago that the main theme was in F minor and the melody started something like this: C, F, G, Ab. F, G, Ab. G, F, G, Eb, C. G, F, Eb, F, Ab, G...

Edit:

I think it goes like this:

C, F, G, Ab. F, G, Ab. G, F, G, Eb, C. G, F, Eb, F, Ab, G, Eb, C, F.

F, G, Ab. F, G, Ab. G, F, G, Eb, C. Bb (up), Ab, G, F, Ab, G, Eb, C, F.

Bb, C, Db, Bb, Db, C, G, Bb, Ab, Bb, C...

Ok, that is all I can remember.
