Thought this part of the forum lacked a certain factor... It needs Pokemon!

Ja I've been playin a bit of Pokemon Fire Red on the GBA recently and it has brought me back to my Old Skool roots when I played Pokemon Blue. I love the fact that it has been updated a little bit and the same Pokemon are there (I listen to the FF7 boss battle theme as I write). I think to myself, why is pokemon so great? Thats a question I could ask you...

(Ooooh I think Im neglecting FF7! )

The first Pokemon game was great cos it introduced a whole new type of RPG. Too bad the games after that were kind of rubbish compared to the first one.

Pokemon... I dont even want to know how much time I spent playing that..

It was fun as heck tho. They joy of capturing that chansey or scyther in red and blue, your first lvl. 100, seeing the look on your friends face when you beat his whole team with a pikachu and a vaporeon.

Good ol days.

Crap now I want to play an RPG.... damm you!XD

It was quite a bit of fun. Especally when I compared my natural lvl 100 vensaur to a rare candy lvl 100 vensaur (godda love that glitch!). I can't help but wonder why the programmers didn't include a stable code for Missingno.

Hey I'm 17 and I'm going to buy the DS one. I like the game, but hate the anime.

The original Pokemon game was groundbreaking. Unfortunately, further attempts to do something radically new (Hey You, Pikachu!) have not been so successful...as a result, I think they've shied away from revolution and are going to stick to their original formula...

That's a shame, since I think Hey You, Pikachu! had promise, especially since voice recognition has improved since then. Imagine controlling your Pokemon in real time via microphone not to do minigames but to play the unabridged original adventure in full 3D...now THAT I wanna see on the Revolution ^^

I haven't played Pokemon for ages now, because my stupid little sister gave it to her friend to help clock the game. And she couldn't get it back because he has left the school. It's about 5-6 years ago. And it was the Pokemon Yellow version and I didn't get to complete it.x_x

I used to watch Pokemon in the mornings as well(about 2 years ago), but now the program is soooooooooooo crap, I don't bother getting up at 7:30am on a Sunday to watch English dubbed animes.

Man. I love these games. But, SHH, it's a secret XD

I had a super addiction to the Yellow one, I played it for over 200 hours to try to complete my pokédex. The problem was, I had no friends with the games to trade! I think I lost most of the games during the move, though, and it really bugged me. I put them all in a special shoebox but I don't konw where it is anymore. Maybe it's at my Nan's house...?

My favorite was the Mew glitch. All thanks to the game's hexa-decimal code. ^.^

Here's what you've got to do, I swear this glitch works, I've done it myself:

You need to start a new game, get to Cerulean city, and beat everyone on Nugget bridge. Then make sure you have a Pokemon with Teleport or Fly (you could just catch an Abra). Go to the guy standing in the grass next to the bridge, but don't battle him. Walk into his view where you know he'll see you and challenge you. Before that little "!" appears over his head, though, press start and have Abra use teleport (or whoever you're using). Now your Start button won't work because the game thinks you're in a battle. Go to the Cerulean Gym and fight the first trainer. Then go back to Nugget bridge. The game will automatically pause. Exit the pause screen, and voila! A level 7 Mew will appear!

pokemon is great because it has a high replay factor. when you finish the elite four, you don't stop there. you evolve, train and catch more pokemon to show off your friends. i started playing this game way back in 1998 and stopped last 2 years ago. got addicted to online games >.<

haha, a few years ago, me and my bro both had a game boy, and between us we had red blue and yellow. But what we did was I would start with charmander, then he would train squirtel up to level ten and trade it with me for like a weedle or something, then he would restart the game and do the same with me except for bulbasaur. :D That way I got to start with all the pokemon.

SBmocyarpir

That would be cool.

I also think there should be a Pokemon game where you get to go to Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh and get all 32 badges.

I'm getting re-obsessed with Pokemon. But it's totally different than my obsession when I was 8. Back then, I just loved ANYTHING that had to do with Pokemon. But sadly, I didn't get a game boy until christmas 2000, when I was almost 10. Now, I'm more into the fandom aspect of it. I'm writing a Pokemon fanfic right now, and I LOVE making custom Pokemon sprites! I might upload them so I can show you guys!

I remember Pokemon, I played it for a full 24 hours, then heard of a glitch for Mew. I tried it, (it's SIMILAR to the one listed) but it only gave me a Nidoqueen. Now I'm going to try getting Mew again, and this time I hope it works.

I like starting a new game, going through 3/4 of the game, and putting all of my items and Pokemon (except something like a Ratata) on Pokemon Stadium. (I beat the gym leaders with a Caterpie [level 100])

Ahh...so fun...

Lol, reminds me of when I use to play Gold and Silver.. I had this cheat device specifically for pokemon.. It let you edit everything about your pokemon. I think it was called Pelican or something... But yeah, I had a level 100 caterpie as well. His name was "Dontstepon" lol. I taught him Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Surf, and some other random attack that I don't remember the name of. It was hilarious beating people with it. Lol.

I remember when I first got a pokemon card... it wasnt even a card it was a cardboard square w/ pictures of ash on it. I had cut it out from a lunchables box.
But now I'm into bigger things like Pokemon Colessium. So entertaining. But at one point I stopped playing the game and my brother, beat everything. WHY!
and later sold the game. I have never played a pokemon game since.

If I do ever get a DS and Diamond or Pearl, I want to try to get a Gold Trainer Card without the use of a guide or AR of any sort. I almost did with my Emerald, but I didn't have enough patience to work out the Regi trick without a guide.

Another tip that keeps things interesting - use different Pokemon every time you play through the game! It's almost like you've never played before and are having to relearn everything, tis pretty cool.

(Weezing is surprisingly good.)

But it seems to have gotten out of hand O.O;;
I mean, the first Pokemon were fun (And then I mean up to Deoxys, which is number 386), but... Don't you think they're getting a bit ahead of themselves? There are so many stupid names now... Diamond and Pearl are too much, I think.

But I love it anyway!! :D

Actually, I agree with the previous post as well. These neoteric Diamond and Pearl Pokemon are just... too incongruous for my entire liking. At first, they all seemed too fat, too disfigured, or a combination of those two. Although I sort of got used to some of them, I rather liked it when the Pokemon were based on living or mythical creatures, and not... desultory demi-creatures that have random, ludecrous protrusions. It's just too inane for me.

Also, I do not support the new evolves of the old Pokemon that are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE PREVIOUS FORMS.
