Compositions:

Test7 (http://www.tloveland.com/upload/files/Test7v2.wma) (Gotta think of a name)

I'll only edit my compositions with a positive comment into this first post ^.^

Ok.
I was bored, and decided to go and *try* compose something again.
Anyways, it wasn't really working and decided to go play some piano. I was just playing some random stuff and got with the C-A-F-G as chord progression. I thought it sounded OK, so let's use it in a composition!
Anyways, now I had chords, but no melody. Back to the piano!
I thought of this very simplistic melody (sounds a bit like ragtime I think) and used it together with the chords (which are very simple too). Now I got the main melody + chords. Let's think of something to put in it, so it won't be repeating the melody all the time.
Anyways, after like 2-3 hours of playing piano thinking up things this is what I got: (It's called test as it really was a test) Comments please :)

EDIT2: Composition nr 5 added (I don't know where 1,2,3 and 4 are to be honest  ). I read the Composition contest (Spring), and even though I knew I was too late to send in my own entry, I decided to try and compose something with the 'spring spirit'. Anyways here it is and I hope you all enjoy it. :)

PS: I don't know how to make it a .Midi, I tried to do it but the midi won't work.

PS2: If you want to edit, please use Finale NotePad 1.6 as I'm not sure how it'll go if someone else edits it with 1.5 or 1.4 or whatever while I used 1.6

EDIT: This is my 4th composition I ever made. =]

My 6th composition :D
First time I tried making something with more instruments, I need some help on the drums though. Comments?

BTW, I need help on endings too ^.^

I changed it a bit to make it more sound like ABA' instead of a simple ABA

*Bump* Comment please?

I don't know how to put it, but trying to come up with some catchy melodies and things that move right into each other could really make these compositions 'sing' out. Other than that, they just seems way to-BLEH.

Ok thanks for the comments, I'm working on something new. The melody probably isn't very catchy, but I tried to make the bass flow into the melody.

I hope this one is better + comments/tips please are appreciated (spelling?)
Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like nice little Prelude you've got there. Sounds fine as it is.

Thanks, this part was like A-A'-A'', now I'm searching for something like a B part of the song, and then I'll go back to A, and then the ending, but I can't think of anything.
You can find the sheets + the .MUS under this post.
The .WMA file can be found by clicking here (http://www.tloveland.com/upload/files/Test7v2.wma). I'm not sure if you have to be registered or not. :\
[Request]Can someone please add some more bars to this file (with Finale Notepad 2006 or lower), as I can't do it myself, Thanks

EDIT:

Ok this is what I got as a 'B' part, I'm pretty proud of what I have so far, I still want to expand it, maybe add a 'C' part or 'B'' or whatever, so can someone add some bars, thanks :)

BTW, comments/tips are welcome :)

EDIT2:
Added the sheets of what I got so far.

EDIT3:
Added the .WMA file for those who can't open .MUS files

Oh. Test7 is very cute. The melody and harmony are quite simple, but that's not a bad thing. You just need work on progression in the melody, sometimes it feels likes it being pulled back - the rhythms need to be worked on as well. But it's good. I like it. Keep working on it!

Ok thanks for the comment, do you have any tips on what I could change at the chord progression in the melody, and what about the rhythms?

EDIT

I tried changing the rhythm a bit + added a note here and there and deleted some. Also I added the .MUS file the .PDF file and the .WMA file to this post :)

Woah, fast reply.

There's nothing wrong with the chord progressions... it's just simple V - IV - I... but still good.

And the rhythms, in some of the parts you have a fast run of 16ths in the 3/4 beat - and the last note is a 8th note. It's just my opinion but I dislike that -- it suspends the note and doesn't build momentum of the piece, often making it boring/bland.

Ok thanks, for the tip on the rhythm, after listening to it a few times in a row I got annoyed by the 8th note, so I tried to change those runs into 16ths notes only, although, at one point I left 1 8th note at the start of one of those runs, as I kinda liked it.
Anyways, 7.3 is added into the post above yours, I hope you like the rhythm there better :)

EDIT: About the fast reply, yea, I'm kind of proud of this piece as it's definitely the best I made so far, and I really love seeing people comment on it, giving tips so I can improve this :)

Much much better! Do you mind if I take a stab at editing it?

PFK

You can edit it as much as you want :) as long as you tell me what excactly and how you edited it so I can learn from it :D

Sweet... although I don't know how much I can edit it though. It is quite fine the way it is.

Btw, can you check out my thread. It's so lonely =(

Thanks for the comments, let's wait till Maestro makes a comment on this one too, and comments from other people are fine too. If none has tips for me what I could edit, or everyone thinks it's done, I'll just start another composition, but so long I'll keep on working on this one :D

EDIT:
I started working on a new piece, it's called Test10.
Now you're probably wondering where Test8 and Test9 are. Well, Test8 was totally crap, even worse than the other things I posted in this thread (I could've fixed it but was too lazy, as it had a pretty good rythm/melody in my opinion), and Test9 is on the other comp.

Anyways, like I said, I started working on Test10. I don't have much yet but I don't know how to go on with this. Therefor I added the .MUS file and the .WMA file.
Tips on how to go on are appreciated :)

EDIT2:
I found out how to go on, but now I need some help with Finale NotePad 2006. In like the middle of the song, I have the change the key signature, but I don't know how. I would be happy if someone could help me with this.

Thanks in advance :)

EDIT3:
Changed Test10 .WMA file to Test10v3 .WMA file.

EDIT4:
Changed Test10v3 .WMA file to Test10v6 .WMA file.

EDIT5:
I heard people had problems with .WMA files, them opening in text browsers. If you do, please post here + excactly what happens. Then I'll try to fix it.
Thanks

EDIT6:
I fixed up the melody a bit, as at some points it sounded like there was a note missing.... well I simply added that note ;)
I'll post the .MUS, .PDF and the .WMA tomorrow of what I have so far, as I'm too lazy to do it now ^.^

Sorry for double posting.

Please delete this post (and don't forget to read my last post on page 1  )

Good start, keep going... although I'd prefer a G/Eminor on the last chord.

I tried G/Eminor on the last chord, but it really did sound very weird.

BTW, so far there were only 7 people of the 21 I gave them this composition who actually saw this looked a bit like To Zanarkand ^^

This is what happened:

I was bored... I was playing To Zanarkand... I changed it a bit... I changed it more.. I changed it even more.. Changed it again... Changed it... Improvised a bit... Then changed it.. What I got now are the results of it...
It's just like the To Zanarkand style. I just used another Chord Progression and another melody... but the way I USED those chords are the same :)

Telling me to make my compositions sound weird... xD
that's what you're doing! :D

EDIT:
Got an idea for my next composition...
It'll be called Sepharite's Theme and it will be VERY VERY weird! ^_^

EDIT2:
Anyways, let's get back on-topic... Any ideas on how to go on with this piece?

Ah, you found my awesomness plan - to make weird compositions weirder.. j/k.

Oh! A theme.. about me!? Weird!? ... I like weird ><

Note to PFK or Anyone Else : Swear to God, you make a theme on me-I'll kill you. Only yourself should make yourself a theme. Well, if you do make one on me or anyone else-make it true.

Yes, Seph is weird. Fag. Lol.

Ok, now stop spamming and comment my piece. XD
It'll be called: Away From Home. Very original, Yeah!
Of course, when you leave home, you're sad (unless you're weird... *points at sepharite*), but later on you will get happier and happier...
Anyways, in my piece it started with a 'sad piece' then it turns into a 'happier' part. Can someone please give me tips like a good chord progression which I can finish it off with? ^,^
Thanks

Maestro, I like your compositions... that means your compositions weird. =) And I doubt anyone wants to make a theme of you *yawn*.

Just post it... and we'll see what we can do.

It does sound a bit like it, but not bad. Keep going! I can't wait to hear it when it's finished.

Speaking of having it finished, I added an ending to it. I apologize for messing with your file, but I wanted to see if I could give it a feeling of closure. I didn't change anything, I just started adding notes in measure 21 (but I think I changed one chord.) Hope you like!

I wanted a decrescendo at the end, but my file is goofing up.

I didn't really like the chords you added at the end.. also where's the happy part of the song in your edit? :(
