I have been told that a post on the compositions forum, as oppossed to the games forum would be more helpful. Now, all I ask is that an artist on this site allows us to use a midi(or tiny .wav file) in a new nintendo ds game.
details here, on the original thread: http://forums.ichigos.com/showthread.php?t=6721
Ripple out.
PS: We had our hearts set on some of Noir's work (Arrival and Fragment)

Is there a reason that it can't be .mp3? .wav's are just inherently so big!

well, we could use mp3's, the DS might not like it, if thats the case, we also need your consent to convert it. all use of music in any way, shape or form will be credited. so, post some files you would allow us to use
thanks.

Thanks guys. If you dont mind, post absolutly everything you feel comfortable with us using. We only have a few alternative sources(public domain classical works) so some fresh tunes wouldnt hurt, plus this is exposure! Your music might be heard by hundreds!

You're creating a game for Nintendo DS and come to an amateur music forum to get music?

I think game developer kits are pretty accessible...I remember a prof who said he spent a couple hundred dollars on a kit that would allow him to program the GBA (for robotics purposes, granted, but if he has access to GBA assembly (was it called ARM or something?), he certainly could have coded regular GBA software...)
So I guess that means: if you have a dream of creating a console/handheld game, go out and do it :)

Well, thanks for the positive encouragement folks, we do have every intention of finishing this game. With a little musical assistance from our friendly neighborhood Ichigo's, we will have a very good assortment of music. Here is a link to the ds forum, you can find lot of details here: http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?t=9302 . Spencer723 is the programmer, and, I, Ripple, am the art director. Kepp sendin' in those wacky tunes! Ripple out.

well, its been a while. spencer723 and I havent really decided on any tunes... its all good stuff, but the technical stuff is coming together. the sound engine is coming along, once thats in place we'll start picking out tunes. now in responce to noir7, we are just amature-ish designers, its not like we're from nintendo. this game is a Homebrew game, for game-designers like ourselves, to show that it CAN be done.

Ok, sound engine is DONE!! please post links or whatever to specific songs you would allow us to use. ".wav" files would be great, im not sure why...but they are, so thank you in advance.

I'll post an mp3 that I can turn in to a wav. It's only the first part, but if you like it I'll give you it when it's finished in wav or midi.

Ok, i checked with spencer723, and he says .wavs are the best so far.
A reminder: post a link to everything you want us to use, post it loud and post it proud. Give it a nice name, and we'll see what we can do.
At a certain point in time, we will post a list of every piece we are using. Incase anyone wants to back out, we'll give you a timeframe once the list is posted.
Comments? Questions? Don't be afraid to post and ask.

If you're using these music for a new nintendo ds game, doesn't that mean that you'll be using them to make a profit? Unless you're providing the service free, then I'm filling to give you support:)

Hey everyone, I'm spencer723, I'm the programmer for the game. We are making absolutely no profit with the game, it is for our own educational value. Since we wanted a nice soundtrack to go along with the game we decided to come get the best from Ichigo's.

Are you just asking for any songs, or are you also looking for in-game music, as well? (For levels, battles, etc...)

we'll sort out anything that isnt specified, and might change specifications
ie: you make a song called "dark level music" we might use it as cut scene music
in short, any songs will do.

Ok, heres an update. Production has gotten blisteringly slow and might stay that way for another month. Myself, I have football practice, and spencer is working alot. All distractions aside, this is an important project for us, so it WON'T be abandonned, so please, keep posting songs. Thanks.
