I was just wondering the origins of people's screennames. My screen name comes from the name of an original character who I liked a lot at the time of signing up.

It comes from my head.

But I discovered that it actually exists as a real name.

Although 'me' is one of the best names I've ever seen, Beeble is still fun and cool. ^^

As a huge Tolkien fan, I chose Gandalf. Your name kinda rolls off the tongue, Random Tangent (Ran Tan? lol) As for my name I was reading a latin book of quotes and saw that Igneus meant fire (there are like 5 lating words for it) and most of my email and names have the word fire or flame in it and I&#39;d just finished watching a couple eps of Yami no Matsui Descendants of Darkness. Me being the phonetic speller I am heard it pronounced Rukusho. So thats where that name came from. Like 4 years later i learned it was spelled Rokosho instead of Rukusho. well, techincally, "chan" is just a familiarity suffix, or for kids or close friends etc. for example, Inu-chan, cuz i&#39;m little inu, and the chan, cuz it&#39;s cute, and my friends call me this nickname. like i could say "ran tan chan" and some girls are called "kun" like tohru in fruits basket, i think it&#39;s outta respect and tohru is generally a boy&#39;s name anyway.

Whoo, I enjoyed reading the source of everyone&#39;s names; I always take forever to choose names for myself. I like ones that I&#39;m sure won&#39;t be taken by someone else and are easy to pronounce. Years ago I had a stuffed tiger I dubbed Mittens (because just its paws were white) and I needed a name for something. So I swiveled about on my chair looking for something to get a name off of (my brother had recently used the name of a tissue box on the floor - PuffsPlus :blink: figured it was the easiest way to get a name) and I caught sight of me fuzzy tiger. So yeh, I&#39;m sure you can figure Snomits -> Snow + Mittens. I love the whiteness of clean snow (brown slush is icky and yellow? urgh) and it sounds nice if you say it out loud. I&#39;m sticking with this name for a good long while. :D

Well, my characters on EverQuest (a once-popular MMORPG) always used to be Gnomes, and all my friends thought my obsession with the Wee Folk was weird. Thus, I strived to spread the liking of all things Gnomish to all my friends. :heh: So, even though I&#39;m about 6 feet tall, I gave myself the screenname "Gnomish" on this board. :lol:

This whole thing with butterflies...Crimson butterflies, to be exact, all started with a survival horror game my cousins bought called Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly (in other places, it's called Project Zero 2). Although I never personally played it, I always watched them play...and it's scary. Broken Neck Lady XD T.T But for some reason it influenced me.
Then I got internet, and I had to think up a screen name, and I wanted CrimsonButterfly. However, it was taken, so...I put up the Japanese version (AkaiChou) and added 'of snow' (noYuki), which makes up AkaiChouNoYuki! (...it was meant to mean 'Red Butterfly of the Snow', but then my Japanese friend pointed out it really said 'Snow of the Red Butterfly'.)
Anywho! When I signed up to fanfiction.net, I wanted to be Crimson Butterfly there too. However Crimson Butterfly was taken again, so I called myself Crimson Butterfly of the Snow. I wanted to call myself that everywhere else I signed up, but...well, the first forum I signed up to had a limit on characters, so I just put Red Butterfly of the Snow. But, since that is too long anyway, most people call me 'Crimson-chan' (as, unlike this forum, they allow Japanese suffixes).
