The official word on it is Winter 2005. The only thing that's for sure is it will come out in Canada 2 days after the American release.

If the official release date is Winter 2005, it will be there in Spring 2006. I'm almost sure about that.

Just curious, will it be anything like XI's online-ness?

It isn't online like XI but it still isn't exactly the same as the older FF's. It's kind of another spinoff game like FF:CC or FFXI. I heard from some places that it resembles .hack in that it's an online game, but not actually online.

I think it uses the same race system as FFXI (Hume, Elvaan etc.)

*sighs* This sucks, Nobuo susposedely got fired(or so Noir told me), and now they are doing some crap like FFXI: CC. I just want a good FF game like I-X2, not some weird multiplayer thing where you can get maximum value from multiplayer. I want a simple but touching storyline with indepth character development and their relations with other characters. Square apparently seems to not care about the real Final Fantasy and instead just care about multiplayer. Not that multiplayer is always bad, but....well.......there's a time to do it and a time to simply do the original style. It would be okay if they had a FFXI: CC that was multiplayer, and one just meant for single player, but.....they don't. Oh well....I"m all upset now :(

I'm not sure what you mean by FFXI:CC as they are two extremely different games. There is a second FF:CC coming out but it is being developed for the Nintendo DS as that system has some very versatile multiplayer abilities.

They also aren't doing another online FF because it just doesn't make any business sense. FFXI is selling extremely well and as long as they continue to provide new content, there isn't any gain in developing a new MMORPG.

Thirdly, Nobuo wasn't what made FF great. riginal, pioneering gameplay concepts and storytelling techniques were and the lack of that in the recent FF's saddens me far more than a different composer making the background music.

Also, you should remember that Square isn't the same company it was a couple of years ago. It is equal parts Enix with much of the Enix management running the show. Consequently, their games are going to change.

Edit: By the way, do you mean the original style or the modern style started by FFVII. They are two very different beasts.

Well there is always the past... (Thinking of FF 3, 5, 6, 7, maybe 8, 9 and 10, not excluding 10-2)

Yeah, but once you play them and beat them, the real fun ends. When you do it again, you don't get suprised at things, you know the story. You can only taste the character developtment and the storyline once. I mean, its kind of ruined when you play it a second time.

And then its discouraging to hear FFXII being another multiplayer thing or whatever.

FFXII isn't multiplayer though, right?

I thought it was gonna be a completly offline and single player rpg

now I'm confused @_@

To displ some of the confusion going on here here are some actual facts.

FFXII is single player

FFXII is offline

FFXII will feature premade characters with an actual storyline.

FFXII uses an advanced version of the FFXI battle system (more like the .hack series) but introduces more strategy to this system. This is the only thing that is taken from what is essentially an MMORPG.

Nightmare, you should really actually research before you post your "Elegy to Final Fantasy" and saying FFXI:CC just shows how ignorant you are. I highly doubt you've even played FF:CC how it was meant to be played and it gameplay is certainly different than that of any MMORPG.

Mocking me and calling me ignorant doesn't help anyone, it is merely being rude and inconsiderate. I apolgoize for the confusion I've caused, I have been confused myself and that's what caused it. I thought that FF: CC was FFXI:CC, and I got this mixed up somehow.

I have never played FF: CC, but own FFXI. I heard multiplayer goes with FF: CC, and somehow thought it was possible to do single player, but better mutliplayer which was online based. Then I sorta understood that multiplayer was with a few GBA's hooked up. And I got it confused with FFXI, and well....yeah. I also thought there were two different FFXI's, the CC one and the MMORPG one, which I know see that there are NOT.

I probaly just mixed bits and parts of what I heard of both games from various people I've conversed with online in forums and stuff, and ended up with those weird results. Thanks for helping to clear up not only my confusion, but everyone else's as well. Sorry about that people XD

At least now I can be at peace that I can continue to await more FF games in the future that are single player.

I'm sorry Nightmare, what I said came out a little harsher than I meant it.
