i have both the manga and the series of kenshin.....manga was great....so was the series....i would recommend the manga tho...much better than the series....

I'd recommend the manga over the anime. Most people I know would. It's kinda like how a book is better than the movie.

uwa~ if u guys love kenshin, then u guys ought'a love "samurai x", it's a version of kenshin, it's the ova version, i think there's 4 dvd's out, one of them is the kenshin movie, the other 3 are for kenshin's past stories *Drawn magnificently if i might add =) with awesome fight scenes* and also the future after the anime series, i love it =) i believe there's manga out for that too...haven't found it yet -_-

the anime was decent and I've never read the manga. It wasn't good enough to get me to watch past the shishio(sp?) part...

ummm.......... i like this anime......... but the manga is a little better........ but the anime is also has some good stuff.........

It's awesome it has humor but the action sequences are great unlike Sailor moon where they do some sort of power up thingy they use actual swords and stuff.

oh man, Kenshin is CRUCIAL! but the manga IS better than the anime only because the ending for the manga is so much better than the anime TV/OVA ending. i mean that last Enishi Arc was jsut amazing.

souma: Kaoru dying was in the Manga. She didnt' really die. One of Enishi's henchmen made it look like he killed Kaoru by making a corpse look like dead Kaoru and kidnapping the real kaoru in order to punish Kenshin for causing Tomoe's death (Enishi's sister). But the page showing her dead body was like WHOA! This was in an Arc that wasn't shown in the anime.

Ayanami: yes, Kenshin dies in the 2nd OVA series but for a stupid reason. A disease. Actually, i heard the OVA wasn't even created by the original guy. The Manga ending is much better. more warm and fuzzy.

i'd prefer the manga ending better than the ovas and series.....

the series is still good up to ShiShiO....

but yeah, shinta dies of mmmm...shoot...ah screw it, it was sad tho, kenshin sees kaoru, they are watching sakura and then kenshin dies... TT.TT not fair...

and i believe it was created by the same writer as the anime/manga series because at the end of the credits watsuki's name shows up, i don't know if he drew it though...but...yah

i think those credits were only for the original story, not the director/writer credit but i could be wrong.

it's all good hahaha it was enjoyable that's all i can say =) i only wish that the anime was drawn the same way as the ova~ more realistic

1st ova series or 2nd ova series? cuz i actually dint' really like the style of the 2nd. BUt maybe i was jsut used to the normal style. Having it the 1st ova style would be cool, but since kenshin doesn't kill anyone, all that blood animation and gory stuff kinda goes out the window.

hmm...u might be right about the prologue OVA series, but the Ending OVA series (seishouhen or something like that) was definaly a lot different. It was...more detailed but a little strange i think. The characters even looked different.

Well, I've only started reading the first three it's really GOOD! I wanted to read more, but...didn't get it, or is it not out...I'm not sure, but I think I saw the 4th volumn...I'll just have to wait till I go to another convention...-__-

I liked it until episode 61, afterwords, it was just pretty lame and bad. Shishio is the best&#33;&#33;&#33;

i like the fights but didn&#39;t appeal to me enough to find ways to watch the whole anime
i stayed with Trigun instead
i crave more the faster fights and where you can see the moves unlike dragonball z

Never read the manga, but I&#39;ve seen all the episodes. It looks great to me and it has great music.

I watched the anime and I thought it was quite good, never read the manga though.

i like the OAVs better coz they have better fight scenes, like in reflection. that was cool AS&#33;&#33; but it got kinda annoying how Kenshin talked to his enemies and so they lost.....kinda....like with Sojiro and stuff. i still hate the ending of the anime series.
i really wanna read the manga because at least the art stays constant. i think the animators got kinda slack in some parts coz sometimes the characters look reeeeeeeaaaaaalllllllllllllll strange

uuggghh...i just watched samurai x a few weeks ago and i was horrified by how much kenshin changed&#33; always so dark...and evil. and the way he kills a person is terrifying. i was really surprised of how kenshin would do something like that. i watched rurouni kenshin first, obviously. he changed a lot. that&#39;s all i can say.

he was the batosi (can&#39;t spell japanese right...), after all so dark nature was natural.

The series was okay, but the OVA was Awsome&#33;&#33; It added some depth to the series that was well needed.

yes it is to an extent. the violence is quite extreme, but it's never gratuitous or without reason (even in his assaisn days he was doing it for the benefit of people he worked for). i don't think theres much bad language, and hardly any sexual content.
i think the main reason you could call it mature is the historic themes that run throughout:\

Trust and Betrayal are like two episodes; they follow each other and there are about Kenshin when he was young...like before the TV series
and Reflection is more about Kenshin when he was older...like after the TV series
I think the OVA are less funny, more darker
There is not a lot of joke Everything is a lot more serious you have to be a Kenshin's fan to really love it
I really love them, more beautiful to watch
The movie is more simple and funny...the animation is ok not as good as the OVA

if you look up Rurouni Kenshin, it will only have the red headed guy...

yup, i agree. except for the ova that i recently watched. the seisouhen ova was kinda dull. just a sad story, not much violence.. i believe that's the last anime episode from the series.

the OVA ...It's very different from the tv serie the story is more serious...everything is more psychologist...The ova explain a lot of thing about kenshin scar and why he don't kill...

well if you want to buy the OVA you can start looking in dvd store or buy them by internet...amazon.com or amazon.ca are good
there are a lot of other video like the one link before but the majority of them are music video so no voices...but there are subtiles sometimes
by the way these are video made by people like you and me so they just take part of the OVA and mixed them together and put music...so don't expect a full version of the OVA
anyway if you're are a true kenshin fan you will not lose your money if you buy them!!!

Kenshin has it's light hearted points, but it isn't a drama or serious at all. In fact, it's very serial. Kenshin meets bandit, bandit gets defeated, bandit reports to higher up boss, big adventure to the boss, battle with boss, defeated by some supernatural ability.

I haven't seen samurai X yet, but I do know it's a lot more serious, and a lot darker themed.

the ova and the tv serie are two different thing
don't watch the ova thinking to find them funny

yes... in the TV series (around episode 60) , he goes to kyoto and places flowers on some girls grave.... after watching you OVA, i think that has something to do with it since i saw a scene where:
1) kenshin throws sword (or swings) at some guy
2) guys takes some girl and blocks the attack

The manga is SO MUCH BETTER!!! the anime leaves out a whole different arc that's the BEST ONE!!! about tomoe and enishi and...and..oh it's great!!!!!...if you're a true kenshin fan you'll read the manga, the anime makes me sad sometimes because it makes kenshin look stupid and pointless at times, while the manga is the total opposite!
