probably about 2 hours after school a day, but exams at the moment restrict that. i actually can't wait for summer when i can play all day la la la:P

Dunno. Some days I don't practice at all. I probably have a really screwed up average playing time. I'm sure it would be hard to calculate.

Mostly never. Everyone in my house would get mad at me if I were to play my trumpet for an hour a day. Maybe I'll try practiceing with a wah-wah mute to keep down the noise.

*bites lip*.... I practiced 300 min for one day (one time, without breaks).... and 100 minutes is pretty common for me (per day)....... I'm only in 8th grade, too.....

A grand! Lucky. :P If I had one I'd practice two or three hours a day and enjoy it! I only have a crappy $150 or so keyboard and the petal is broken. x_x

So I practice half an hour a day...

Probably an half hour a day. I dont practice on weekends and Fridays regularly though...

^How is this "grand"?.... This is why I'm called "music freak"...Are you talking to me? I'm a little unsure of what you're asking but I am reffering to a Grand Piano, which would be incredible to have (And incredibly expensive). If I had a grand piano I would be playing it constantly without breaks.-_-

Aw, I want a grand.
My practice schedule basically is... Whenever I feel like it. XD I haven't been practicing much lately, though, because I've been busy with KH2 the last couple of days and I was just at a con. But when things like that aren't going on I keep playing until my parents ask me to stop, which usually takes more than an hour, but less than 3.

When I started playing my Violin, I would play all~ day. Literally. Seriously! No joke!

But now I've slowed down to around 1-3 hours if I'm having a good day... sometimes its just 10-30 minutes... But no one has to tell me to practice, thats for sure! xD

Timed myself out of boredome for the first day of summer. Mainly counted the mins. up and cauculated them from running to the piano and back.

About 3 1/2 Hours. Kind of like different improvations lasting 15-30 mins.
(I should start recording myself in case of me finding themes or progressions!)

Excluding composing, I'd say about 3 to 5 hours a day. Including composing, that's be like 5 to 7 hours. :heh:

I pratice about 1 to 2 hours a day on my piano but i need a grand. It is a good idea to take a break every 30 minutes or you'll find yourself unable to focus or just fiddling around on the piano (as opposed to actually practicing).

Milchh

Off-Topic.

I love my old Acrosonic, but it is really getting old. The strings are becoming loose, it's hard to not break strings-but it's easier to break on other pianos. The strings sem to get brittle, and can't handle the long astension pedals for my "Nocturne of Love"

I don't really have a time limit. Instead I make goals for myself such as "Memorize this page" and work at it until I get what I need done. Some days will be more and some days will be less depending on how much I need to do for my next lesson and what I got done the day before. I just find it so rigid to establish a set time limit. I'll never grow and accomplish anything if I do that.

I usually practice an hour a day on both my instruments (piano and cello),so that would make it 2 hours. :P But I dont really practice during the summer or on weekends, but because LVA sent me a summer project in the mail, and its a really hard song, that might have to change. :heh:

I... don't. *embarassed*

I have nothing fun to play except Disney songs which are out of my league as of yet, and some of the techniques I haven't learned... I dunno I could teach myself them like half the things I've learned on my Sax, but I tend to like practicing great stuff that's fun to play. (I find myself playing "Kiss the Girl," "Part of Your World," "Under the Sea," "One Jump Ahead," "Magic Carpet Ride," and "Beauty and the Beast" whenever I do practice.)

Heh heh. I practice about half an hour every day, on my flute. All I ever practice are scales and etudes and exercises from my book. After seeing all of you guys, I'm going to aim for one hour every day! (Maybe this'll persuade my dad to get me a new flute  )

My family has a Grand piano, also. I try not to let that much money go to waste, so I practice to about three-four hours during the summer, and during school, one-two hours.

On my violin, I practice at least two hours during the summer and at least an hour during the school year.

Okay, I've officially given up practice for the time being. My keyboard with a broken sustain is just to unbearable to play on and I can't afford a new one. I would love a real piano but we just don't have the money at this point.

Ah well, maybe I'll start practicing again when summer is over but I just can't practice on the keyboard...

when i get a big new book, i'll practice 4 hrs a day. sometimes even more! my mother tells me to stop though, saying i'll get arthritis. it can happen to people who aren't of old age from things like that. since i don't have a good amount of new music anymore, it's 30min to an hr a day, and it isn't everyday. it can get really boring playing the same things for years, or things that are either too easy or too challenging. i usually try to play for 10 hrs a wk total though, even though no new material~

Ussually I practise for like an hour...but when I get a new song (right now I'm getting most of them from this site)I'll practise for as long as it takes to learn it (up to about 4-5 hours then I'll stop)

It really depends. When I feel like it, I do, and I'll usually take a break, then come back to it... I spend a good deal of time on it when I have a piece I want to play.

before i finished music exams i'd practise up to 2 hours everyday. I don't practise as often now since I only play to relax. If I want to memorise a song though, I'd practise about the same amount until I get it.

If you want the guidelines for practicing, this was what I've been told by numerous teachers:-

Grade 1 - 15mins
Grade 2 - 20mins
Grade 3 - 25mins
Grade 4 - 30mins
Grade 5 - 35mins
Grade 6 - 45mins
Grade 7 - 60mins
Grade 8 - 90mins

That's the English board though (royal associated boards which is one of the toughest). Also it's practice every single day. If you want to be better practise more! Of course you get people who don't practice until a couple of weeks before the exam intensely for a few hours each day and they just manage to pass but that doesnt' work for the higher grades.

Too much.

At nights when I don't have much to do, I rotate from the computer, from the TV, to the piano. That way I can give my fingers a rest. All in all, I probably practice about 4-5 hours a day and probably more on Saturday nights.

hmm I just wondered, do people actually practise properly or just play the pieces and stuff right through a few times? Actual practise consists of actually trying to improve a section of a piece or skills. Just wondering guys...what do you do?

I first just play the piece through one time, and then work on the specific places that I didn't play very well that I noticed when I played through the piece.

At least more than ten minutes everyday. Most of the time I just bang my way through the songs and be off on my way. The longets I've done is say, two hours?

Don't get me wrong, I love playing the piano, but I tend to get attracted by things that actually respond to my telling them about my day more.

If i had a grand, i'd be on it nonstop xD
My exam just finished last month.. Since i was slacking and started practicing only a month before exams, i was doing 5, 6 hours a day, and 11 1/2 hours (including meals) the day before the exam @_@ Didn't touch my piano for a week after that.

I practice my guitar (since I am a beginner in it) everyday for as long as my fingers could still manage, I can go on for about 5 hours practicing for it then I would rest for a while and practice again.

For my harmonica, since I can play it well now, I practice 2 to 3 hours with 10 minutes of rest every now and then, after that, back to the guitar...
