View Full Version : Musical Game
Distant Dreamz
June 8th, 2006, 06:07 pm
Maybe this should be under the games forum or something, but it includes music, so it probably fits better here...
The idea of the game is to either quote lyrics from a song or include a cut-out clip of a song or even include a picture of the sheet music to it and someone has to guess what the name of the song is. If no one can guess the song after three-four tries by different users, the user who posted it has to tell the song name. If the user is not online, just quote from a different song and keep the game going until they respond to what song it is.
Guess this one:
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.

Pink floyd, comfortably numb. So what do I do now? Continue?
When will the blood begin to rise,
the sleeping bud burst into bloom,
when will the flames at last consume us?

I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me - Bellefire ( know that song XD)
If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

Octavarium - Spectrum
She comes inside
Been playing football with the guys
She's all high-five
And dirty footprints on the floor
Next thing I know
She's hangin' out
She's got her dress and high heels on
And we're alone
I couldn't ask for nothing more
You better get this. I put almost a whole verse.

Christian Bautista - She Could Be
I hope someone will answer this one.
I'm in the business of misery, let's take it from the top
She's got a body like an hourglass that's tickin' like a clock
It's only a matter of time before we all run out
When I thought he was mine, she caught him by the mouth
I waited 8 long months, she finally set him free
I told him I couldn't lie, he was the only one for me
Two weeks and we got on fire
She has it out for me, but I wear the biggest smile
Really easy one. Awesome song by an awesome band.

Claire De Lune - Debussy
Not a too hard one if you know some famous pieces:
L'amour est un oiseau rebelle
que nul ne peut apprivoiser,
et c'est bien en vain qu'on l'appelle,
s'il lui convient de refuser.
Rien n'y fait, menace ou prière,
l'un parle bien, l'autre se tait:
Et c'est l'autre que je préfère,
Il n'a rien dit mais il me plaît.
L'amour! L'amour! L'amour! L'amour!

The Darius Milhaud's one was quite easy to find with google power... there is only so many french composers for band. I think the cities clue was misleading, I am not sure.

 Well, the titles of the movements are city names. It was made after WWII, to show (to mainly Americans) how these cities are viewed by playing the folk songs (the songs being the 5 movements).
Above is one of the most famous cello concertos. It is in 6/8, if no one has figured it out yet. This is a short excerpt from the first movement. It is in a minor key (E minor, in this case). Just Google some of this stuff.
EDIT: This concerto is known for its "unusual" intro; 2 double stops in the first measure. To describe the form of the piece, the cello plays the first few melodic notes, then it goes to the viola, to the cello (as seen in the score), then to the cello soloist.

if there is nothing else to play here, let me add this ;)
Lyrics:
Oy, the box is full, full,
With chintz and brocade,
Oh, my poor soul,
it hurts my shoulder very much!
Go out, out into the tall rye!
I'll wait there till midnight,
when I will see dark-eyed beauty,
Then I'll showcase my goods.
I myself paid no small prices,
So don't skimp or bargain:
Bring here your crimson lips,
Sit nearer to your beloved!
Hazy night has already fallen,
A dashing youth—he awaits...
Listen, it's her!—she comes as promised
Merchant is selling his wares.
Katya tenderly haggles,
Afraid to pay too much.
The youth kisses the maiden,
Asking her to raise the price.
Only the deep night knows
How they came to terms,
Straighten up now, tall rye,
And keep their secret sacredly!
Oy, the crate is light,light
Belt is not cutting the shoulder
And all my sweetie took
a turqouise ring
Ok, That is ;p

It's a Russian Folk song and the tune was used in an old and famous video game. If I post sheet music you will know it without any problem.
