This is a proposition I've been thinking about for some time now. There was a discussion over at the suggestions thread about art contests. Since Ichigos.com is a site soley dedicated to music, art submissions will not be seen there. However, the forums are a great place to share your work!

And now for the proposition itself: Each month we have a composition contest for the musicians of Ichigos. My thought was that we could have a monthly contest here at the art section which would collaborate with the composition contest --

Whenever a musician wins, the art contest will start. The theme of this art contest will be an interpretation of the winning song! The artist (you!) is then to draw/paint a picture for that winning song.

As we will now include the winning compositions to be posted on the main site (http://www.ichigos.com/compositions.shtml). My idea was to include the winning artwork to be posted along with the winning composition.

Any ideas/suggestions/thoughts?

I think that's a really good idea but how long will the art contest last?

We'll see how this contest will be run once this thread gets more replies. I'll need to know if this is something worth going for or not.

@Latke: Yes, this art contest will start once the winner has been crowned :P The artists will then draw an interpretation of the composition. The artwork which wins will be posted - along with the composition - on the site.

I like the idea, hopefully with summer coming up I can participate.

I think that's a great idea, sometimes there's nothing more inspiring than music.

However, wouldn't there be some controversy or such in voting for the best artwork for the composition since people interpret things differently, and thus would disagree with another that the art had best depicted the song? (sorry, I probably worded that funny)

Is there any restrictions of the mediums we use? Like does it have to be traditional or does it have to be CG?

EDIT - Actualy Dreamz, some people who know of art history and famous peices of art know a good peice from a bad peice. There are spacific rules that good artist follows and bad ones either ignoir or dont even know of. Some are done poorly and some are done great, so really it is up to each diffrent person but if you know art for art its easy to tell bad art from good art.

Well, that's why you should enter. These things are great practice. If this does end up getting done, I assume Noir7 will put up a thread for entries, just like the Composition Contests.

There is no registration. When I start the contest the ones who are interested will participate ;)
