Do you believe it?

I do. I beleve that with enough concentration and the effiency, frequency with all the focus in that direction-it could kill you.

Odd, or not?

If the vibrations are strong enough, why not?

Heh, yea.

If I had to kill someone, this would be the second way. (First, making the person to kill themselves.. mainly driving them insane).

Well if sound could shatter glass, it's possible
Of course, there IS that elusive "brown note" :shifty:

a brown note? reminds me of brownouts.

A death by sound waves is hella painfull, so I'd still stick with sleep death.

ChristopherArmalite
June 21st, 2006, 06:40 am
exactly! A note low enough so that sound vibrations can cause a reaction in your..umm...it makes you poop your pants ok?

resonance, sypathetic frequency and stuff. yay

there was a partivular type of helicopter that had to be decomitioned because the it resonated at a frequency very close to that of the eyes. you couldnt see tellephone cables and such...nice lot of crashes that caused

Has there ever been an example of anyone getting injured by sound waves? I'm just curious.

Maestrosetti

That would be a cool way to die, indeed.

Nah, I'll stick with dying in my sleep... knowing I'm gonna die, just so I don't forget to say bye to anybody. XD And like in the movies, you know...

Doctor: You're gonna die in 24 hours.
Main Character: I'ma go get me a hooker!

LoL. J/K. :heh: Sorry.

EDIT: The idea sounds pretty cool. But wouldn't it be painful? Like... REALLY painful?

ChristopherArmalite
June 21st, 2006, 06:36 pm
it would, depending on the note...one note might kill you fast enough that you wouldn't even know you're dead yet or one might kill you slow and painful

PFT_Shadow
June 21st, 2006, 06:48 pm
could kill someone if you found a note that resonated with your brian...trouble is it depends on the material, since the brain is a mushy mix it may not work. you could generate a sound that could shatter bones.

and the brown note...it does exist, not just a myth people. its written down in one of my text books somewhere. just make sure you are on the loo at the time

I'd like to try this out, but I'm afraid of the results....

Roxas

it might b possible but it would b a little hard 2 stop the sound, caus if someone tryed 2 get close enough to turn it off they would die before they could, he he sweet.

ChristopherArmalite

after a few minutes of re-reading and decoding the above posted, it actually makes sense. It WOULD be hard to turn it off once prompted...I wonder what kind of mad-man would be willing to make one of these weapons...
*looks suspiciously at M* :shifty:

OR.

I could just get a gun. and shoot someone with it, with half the thinking power and almost no effort.

Genious, am I.

ChristopherArmalite
June 22nd, 2006, 06:08 am

most things have resonant frequencies, if you find that exact frequency and play it really, really loud, you can make the object vibrate violently, or in some cases break.

Roxas
June 22nd, 2006, 06:57 am
its not that hard to under stand what i say is it?, oh well, and i figured out a way to turn it off, put it on a timed thingy where it goes off after 5 min for example... im just crazy keep that in mind

In the beginning of the romantic period women used to faint in concert halls although the factors were different. For one thing women wore corsets which literally squeezed the breath out of them. The music was so different and dramatic that some women couldn't take it. My theory teacher told me that Lizt and Chopin were the biggest culprits.

(Concerning all above: Or so I'm told....)

Definately Liszt and Chopin would be the ones to do that. Have that gift to rule Romantisizm.

The origins of the sound was that Hitler wanted to find such a sound if it exsisted. Why he wanted it is unknown....

.. To make the Allies shit their pants in battle.

EDIT : Ending in a shit loss for us.

You can kill fish with sound waves. That is why at aquariums the tell you not to touch/tap on the glass. Sound travels faster in water then it does in air and so less intensity is lost, rendering a louder noise. The noise from tapping on the aquarium glass is so loud that it actually scrambles the insides of the fish!

The brown note has been proven not to exist I'm sorry to say. Watch Myth Busters on the Discovery Channel.

I know that it doesn't exist, but we know that sound can break glass

Something everyone should learn how to do...^_^

How to break glass on a trumpet...
1. Build up lips to play this note...
(Second C above the staff for trumpets)

2. Play note at correct intensity for the glass to break

3. Enjoy breaking glass with your trumpet!
