every once in a while there's just a little something that suddenly pops out of nowhere and happens to turns into some sort of song..
now this one might not be perfectly perfect but apart from that I thought it had a certain feel to it.. its a little short, but hopefully it's nice to hear.. ^.^
maybe share a thought or two on it..
thanks for listening anyway in advantage XD

Has a mysterious and sad feel to it. Very nice. Some of the notes, I didn't expect, but they still went well with the song... Which I like; it shows that you're unique and your style is different from most. By the way, the one singing is your friend again, right? She's awesome. Don't ever let her quit singing. ;)
Great song! :)

I agree with marlon: don't let your friend stop singing^_^

Are you singing? AWESOME!
I love the celtic feeling. Very relaxing. And it reminded me very much of Narnia =/
It's very awesome. Keep it up! =D

Good song and a great singer. I agree with sepharite in that it has a celtic feel, but i feel it is way too short and perhaps you can compose another page or soo when you feel inspired.

It carries a very mysteriour celtic feel to it...I love Celtic!!! :D
Who ever is singing did an incredible job as well...I love the song...

Hmm.... you like .hack//Sign? That song sounds a lot like it'd be from the OST of .hack.
That voice also sounds like one of the SINGERS from .hack.
Anyway, loved the piece, loved the voice, loved the back-up too. ^.^

It's pretty good, but the flute could be more fluid if you know what I mean. Your friend is a great singer, and I see you've found your style (I've only heard 3 of your songs). It's got that Yuki Kajiura blend with celtic ambiance.

Hey ya'll! Thank you so much for your comments! We love getting any sort of feedback possible! These are great forums.. :D
In what way could the flute be more fluid? In the way its recorded or played? What do ya'll think of the djembe, is it too much? I thought maybe the melodies Osse plays carries the song well enough on its own maybe *shrug* I've definently become addicted to his style of music he composes.. they're my favorite songs to improv with!
Anyways, thanks again ya'll! :D

since she's too lazy to post them herself I'll just share em for the interested..the lyrics that is..
Snow waters white
You live on in my eyes;
Waters that do trail
Nearest blue sky
I did reach to the end
Found to hear your sweet song
And I see your picture there..
So meet me there he says;
Past all the thoughts and dreams;
Say what is real to weigh
From deep again
dont ask me how she came up with that, but can't say I mind it that much.. :D she defenitly is an awesome singer..and flute player.. XD *nods, proud to have her spiftynize the otherwise quite uninteresting songs*

Well. I am lazy, I'll give you that. BUT! My schtuffle wouldn't be much without the foundation of the songs you write you punk! Everyone agree? :D Good. Said and done. No more undermining your incredible music mister. :P
And tis my pleasure to play along :)

My thoughts exactly.

It's so sad sounding... Sniff, sniff. It sounds like someone's mourning the death of someone very important... It also brings to mind the element of water... so graceful, so flowing, yet so emotionful. It rekindled the fire in my heart. Please, please expand it!!
BTW, how did you record it?

I found this after coming in and checking the contest page. I found you and your partner's composition to be very good. I must ask, what brand of piano is it that was used? The tone quality is amazing, as is your playing.
The work of the flute is quite elegant, and almost reminds me of a tribal dance in the way the notes jump about. I wish I knew someone who could play so well. I also am quite jealous of her voice. Pure, and has a simplicity that I wish my own did. That, and the fact she sounds to be a soprano. Being an alto/tenor...yes, I find myself quite jealous. (and yeah.. I'm female, and able to sing a tenor part. I have a deep voice. xD ).
I have to ask you, but do you have a recording studio set up where you recorded this, or did you go somewhere else to record this?
What's Her Face
August 6th, 2006, 12:54 pm
Oh my, thankyou all for your kind compliments! Osee and I use a program called Magix. Normally he starts a song on his end with his piano and all sorts of cool sound effects for the electric piano I believe. He records that and emails it to me. I then take my flute or sing on top of that and mix it in. Sometimes he'll add to that again and me again and so forth. I sure wish we had a sound studio! But because of budget and distance, we record through our computers. Osse can give you the low down on his tech stuff with his piano.. *pokes him*

I agree that this piece creates a mixture of feelings. Sounds like an ancient song praising or praying for something. A great piece!

I love how the vocals are so smooth, like the nature of running water to take the easiest path. The bouncy flute melody makes me think of a stream during the spring thaw. Running everywhere, following no rules but those of gravity.
The Celtic feel to it is very nice and soothing. I will also say that you should add more to the song. the lyrics definitely have room for expansion and I am sure you could dazzle us with some more of those beautiful flute passages.
I think it would be interesting to see a companion piece to this from the point of view of the person that the speaker is talking about.

WOW..............
uhm, i registered just to reply to this post ^^.
Great composition. It's a unique style, indeed somewhat like Kajiura Yuki.
I like it a lot.
I really don't know what to say, it's short, but it sounds like a real song to me.
Might be perfect as a background music as well. Maybe i'll use it for an anime music video once. If ofcourse i have your permission to do so ^^.
Oh yes, it is said you had more compositions done, where can i find them?
Thank you

Registered just to comment on this post. The music was done really well and has a very nice feel and effect to it as many has already commented about. I would love to hear a continuation to this piece, since it's such a great piece but is short. I look forward to hearing more from the two of you.

geez..so many comments.. thanks for all the feedback guys.. ya'll are amazing.. ^_^
most credit to miss what's her face anyway, since she's just the amazing flute/singing matter of awesomeness..
my part of the story is just me and my electrical piano.. use a little midi cable to hook it up to my computer.. annnd then I go wild with all sorts of soundfonts and the likes to record whatever random song pops in my head as I sit at my piano..develop it.. pop it over to this magix program.. and just add some effects like echo.. or other matters.. to make it sound more realistic..
how she records her flute stuff and singing trough her microphone without getting all sorts of backround noises I don't know.. but I've never managed that one..
but yea. thats pretty much me story.. some other random compositions of us that are posted here before methinks are here.. if ya'll like to hear those too..

http://evenstar.netfirms.com/Music/ocarinaoftime.mp3 (<-- this one *obviously* isnt our own composition.. its the main theme from zelda from the nintendo 64.. its also still "back in the day" where I also just used my microphone to record my piano playing.. so its a little noisy in the backround perhaps..but I still thought it sounded kinda nice ^.^)
http://evenstar.netfirms.com/Music/amelie.mp3 (<-- not our own thought of song either.. though we gave it a twist of our own.. its from the movie "Amelie" and the song is called "La Valse D'Amelie".. liked it so much we made a version of it ourselves.. see what you think of it XD)
http://evenstar.netfirms.com/Music/TECHNOlogical.mp3 (<-- random experimentation.. more like a trance song.. where I was messing with the whole drum/beat/whatever things.. but yea. since miss face is still involved.. be it only with a few random phrases which are just .. random.. still thought I'd add it here.. :P)
thanks again for all the positiveness! :D as soon as something else rolls out I'll be sure to post it..

Wow, I love them all. Her playing and singing is ABSOLUTELy GORGEOUS! I wish she made a CD/have concerts ._.
But the peices are amazing as well, very simplistic but incredibly moving. And I like the celtic feeling... it very much reminds me of Narnia's Lullaby. =)
Btw, you compose the flute/singing? Or does she improvise? O_O
edit: Have you posted VoidInside anywhere before? I heard it somewhere! o_o

There are so 'OST' styled songs-for sure.
And also ambient ones as well.
Great job on these compositions (you two?) you are (both) pretty full of talent-don't be doubted on that.
Love to hear any other things, future or past.

Wow! This piece is great! I never thought that a song like this would be so calming. The one disapointing thing about it is how short it is. If it was longer it would surely win manny awards. How did you think up the melody to this song! Its so catchy, I cant stop listening to it.:heh: Anyway, If any more changes or new songs come out, be sure to post them! Thanks A lot!

I liked it :) ("Snowly Waters"). I haven't been able to listen to it until now (Dial-up before :P ).
The Flute could slur more... or I think it's the tone that's coming out... the tone needs to be more "smooth".
Some things I suggest:
*Relax. The Flute sounds almost sounds "pressured".
*The articulation IS good. Tounging noises?
*You know how the Piano sounds reverb-ish? Try doing what you did with the Piano with the Flute.
I wish you could extend the piece :P .
NOTE: I do get picky a lot :P .

Very good song
great job in capturing the celtic feel..
one thing about the djembe tho, in my opinion a bigger djembe or more bass tones should be used
since the song has a deep feel to it, the djembe used has too high of a pitch
other than that keep up the good work

Hey. So, umm, I actually came across your song from this AMV on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0O8IovUNCo&feature=related and I really liked it and so I looked up the lyrics finding this. And well, everyone says that link allowed them to download the music and I really wanted to as well because I LOVE THIS SONG! And I wanted to hear your other stuff as well.
Basically what I'm saying is that the link doesn't work for me it keeps saying that it's 'forbidden' or something. Can you upload them to a different place possibly? I really like Snowly Waters and I want to hear your others as well as download Snowly Waters like everyone else.
So if there is some way you could put them on some other site as well it would be awesome!

I give two thumbs way up to "Traveling" and "Mad Dash." I like the Russian feel in the latter, and I really like the minimalist touch on the former. When people pull off minimalism, I think it is just so haunting and beautiful.
