i figure there's a few guitarists here, so ill pose my question:

so ive just gotten a major crack in the headstock of my guitar. problem is, repair would cost me around 20000 yen (that's around $200). im pretty sure glue should not be that expensive. i could be mistaken, however. so i was wondering if any of you could throw out a gestimate on what re-setting a headstock should cost. i KNOW it cant be THAT pricey.

Ummm... I have no idea how much that'd cost, but I think the glue doesn't seem to be a good idea. I think it'd mess up the pitches produced by the frets, no?

It's much more than glue. In fact, at my local guitar they do something to expand the wood with steam, after removing the strings, and then they do use some sort of adhesive, then when it contracts the leftover seam is less of a gap, and then they replace the strings. I'm not sure if that's exactly the right way (because the instructors there can't read music and the repairman doesn't know which thing is which because I snapped the 1st string once and he replaced it with a 6th string.)

Yeah, I think they'd have to do it like that, but not like: Go to Home Depot, get some glue, and paste your guitar back together. XD Leave it to a Guitar Repair Shop, I'd say. Most music stores have one.
