So... as the composition contest closes, the art contest opens. The winner this month is "Osse", and his composition "Snowly Waters". Your job is to create a piece of art which represents this song. The type of art is up to you, whether it is a classic pencil drawing, or a computer generated picture.

The rules are:

1) There are no rules.

Snowly Waters - MP3 (http://evenstar.netfirms.com/Music/Snowly%20Waters.mp3)

Lyrics

Snow waters white
You live on in my eyes;
Waters that do trail
Nearest blue sky
I did reach to the end
Found to hear your sweet song
And I see your picture there..
So meet me there he says;
Past all the thoughts and dreams;
Say what is real to weigh
From deep again

I suppose I'll have to be the first one to submit...

When I heard this song, three things popped in my mind:
1. Unwanted Solitude
2. Celtic
3. Night

Well, I did a manipulation for this one (because I lack the ability of pencil-in-hand cordnation). I took herstmonceux castle and a stock mountain pic and went crazy with snow and water effects.

Thus I went with the picture. The castle was placed in the mountains to give off the feeling of solitude; aided by a dim blue glow, and an overall dark theme. The castle is colored a red-orange, because I feel that the color fire gives off simulates the emotion of wanting to be close to another. I also used a starry sky with an non standard moon because I feel that both of those perfectly emulate loneliness and a desire to be close to someone. And, of course, I added snow and water effects. It just wouldn't be right to make a picture without snow or water when the title of the song is "Snowly Waters". I made it "ever so slight", because the singer doesn't sound like she is deep in an ice storm, or drowning in a river; rather it sounds tranquil and melancholy.

"Sitting upon her bed the person of her longings appear. Her feelings strech out to the one she wants to hold, and she can almost touch the ghost. Right when the two are about to touch she realizes that her vision isn't real, and she gazes out into the night sky. The ghost slowly retracts itself and leaves her alone in a distant place."

This is place of unrequited desire, of being with the one she wants. This is the place where she resides, and hosts the memories of night and day. A place between heaven and hell. This is her life.

Program: Photoshop
Container: PNG
Stock: 3 photos
Layers: 47(could have been done with less, but I couldn't get the glow effects and the refelection of the castle on the water right)
Time: ~3 Hours

And now, I present my Picture I invisioned through this song:

It's probably not even close to what the song should depict, but I'm submitting for the heck of it.

Here it is. (http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4014/wulfkl2.jpg)

Its what I thought of when I listened to that song. I have a vivid imagination.

Then why bother posting that? Seriously. It doesn't contribute. People should really only be posting entries here.

I drew a rough sketch while listening to Snowly Waters and I edited it once and painted. Have no reason to tell you what it means because I want you to think for your self.

EDIT - I do have one thing to say. The "lady" on the cliff is a hermaphrodite. Her very large belly and breast is to take what people thought was beautiful 500 years ago (semi large belly and brest) and make fun of it though the brush strokes are in the style of 500 years ago.

I think I took the concept of 'Snowly Waters' a bit too literally. :heh:
Okay, my entry should be located here (http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g306/Distant_Dreamz/SnowlyWaters2Colourfinal.jpg).

Originally, it was intended to be a very detailed sketch, but my scanner ruined it, so I used Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to colour it.

Usually my pictures demonstrate their meaning through the expression of a character and few pieces of their surroundings. Therefore, as the song seemed to give me the impression of a certain type of winter environment, but the drums gave it a natural, native design meaning the character would look as if they were in non-standard clothing... like clothing that seemed formal/semi-formal but was fitted to suite a character that was quite down-to-earth and involved in nature or free-willed, hence the design of her dress and her lack of shoes. Also, the singer's voice gave me the idea of a feminine character that was very ghost-like, sad or depressed, and stressed in a manner of confusion she could scarcely deal with but ignored although the thoughts would pester her.

These ideas seemed to have also constructed a story in my mind where there is a troubled spirit of a women who would walk endlessly throughout the miles of snow and ice in a blizzard, in search of something. She would be very dazed, thoughtful, and kind, but speechless as she wandered alone. Originally I pictured her walking across the snow, but I'm not sure if this image may better represent what I saw in the song.

Oh, and the butterfly is like an image to show she is delusional in a fashion, as there is no reflection in the water.

@_@ Hope I didn't leave anything out... or at least explained it well enough...

I was just thinking how this art contest was a flop because almost no one replied for about two weeks, and then these wonderful sketches/animations/paintings are posted one after another. Great work you guys,

I/m so sorry, it's already too late for me to draw something. I have barely even made the faces yet..... :( I was trying and I kinda gave up. But I'll try again some more. I don't know if I have time for digitally painting it.

Hey, ok this is my contribution to the Ichigos art contest.

I started drawing this dancing fairy, but then my inspiration fell short, so hopefully it'll come back and i'll add more to it, then post that up instead (I am allowed to do that right? since there are no rules).

Mine doesn't look half as good as all your ones, i can't do wicked computer graphics, my painting kinda sucks, just the old pencil and paper for me, but yeah here it is! :sweat:
Enjoy!

Gd luck to anyone else who is still drawing!

Yay! I just finished my first digitally coloured art 8D Just so tired last night I fell asleep and didn't get a chance to post it. Plus, I'm going out in a few, so I can't do anything else to it before deadline. =]

The sketch took the longest, to tell you the truth. It was really hard to choose an image for that song. Too many things bouncing in my head when I listen to it. I stuck with this one since it was the first I thought of. I think I just fell in love with Photoshop all over again. Oh, and I HAD to post the lyrics, its just so... amazing =D

So heres my (first) finished work:
