Hello all, I am new here. I'm still unsure about how this place work an all so sorry if I post something at the wrong section. I attached a song I wrote for a friend of mine who's going back to Japan. I hope I can get some tips on ways to improve on my composition skills.
Please an Thank you!

Well, it's actually good - especially when compared to most "newbs." ;) There's some room for improvement, but I think you're well on your way to making great songs! ^_^

Wow! I am impressed! That is one GREAT composition there. No, from this, you most certainly are NOT a 'newb'. In fact, that's pretty advanced!
First off, welcome to Ichigos! (and I'll bet you'll hear that from everyone as well)
It had some places in the beginning and introduction where it stopped with a 'weird count'. As in, the fermata seemed 'off count' and maybe not as 'neat' as some could put it.
You might get other critiques from people that are more advanced, but it seems really good and superb for a first-timer on Ichigos.
Again, welcome.
PS - This scared me a little. I was improvising something like this a few hours ago. :heh:
EDIT - I gave it a soundfont and an echo. Made it an mp3 for the people who want to hear it cooler sounding.

Me? Advanced? Wow, that's so awsome haha!
maestro, how did you change my midi into an Mp3? I've been trying to do it for so long and never figured out how>< Also, I'm curious to know what kind of composition software everyone is using. I'm currently using Noteworthy Composer (trial) and am trying to find a better one. I've tried Finale as well but I guess I just wasn't use to it and went back to Noteworthy.
I've heard of things like Sony ACID Pro and Garage Band but they sound like they're more for remixing music than composing.
Thanks All

Unless I am doing a strictly sheet music piece only, I use Finale NotePad, but I use the same you do: NoteWorthy Composer (Evaluation).
I use trial software for converting .WMA files (which I can make default) into .MP3s.
I use SONAR Home Studio (version 4) and download soundfonts in which WST Piano (Grand) is the soundfont I used for your conversion.

This really isn't the place to ask. But if you must know, NWC stands for Noteworthy Composer (http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/composer/), which is a notation program.

Go to the Composing General Chat and it has tutorials for the first part.
