I am really decieved as I am one of Led Zeppelin's greatest fan. Please tell me what you think about it.

I've never found plagiarism in music to bother me that much. Some of the people who are respected as great composers do nothing but plagiarise. John Williams comes to mind right away. Listen to "Duel of the Fates" from Phantom Menace and then listen to "O Fortuna" from Orff's "Carmina Burana". It's really all in how you put it together and zeppelin put it together excellently. I know "Stairway to Heaven" has a place in my top five songs right alog with "Moonlight Sonata" and "Eleanor Rigby" (yes, Beatles and Beethoven are about on par in my mind).

Still, don't you think it's decieving ? I've always thought the whole Led Zeppelin band to be the most innovators and one of the best ever rock band and there, most of it was just copied from other great rock players that never got as much credits as LZ, or Jimmy Page, for their awesome work...

On te one hand, it's disappointing. On the other hand, the musi I follow most closely is Jazz and in Jazz, there's a type of song called a standard. These standards have been played consistently over the years by different people and it's never really complained about. One of the musicians that I respect the most, Miles Davis, almost all of his most famous songs were written by other people. Footprints? Wayne Shorter. My funny Valentine? Rodgers and hart. Stella by Starlight? Young. These songs were all played best by Miles Davis and are usually referred to as his (with the possible exception of footprints). It would be hypocritical for me to think ill of one great band for plagiarising when I adore another for essentially the same thing.

Stairway to heaven is the only Zeppelin song I've ever heard, but it's crazy good *drools*
