It's almost time for the release of the Nintendo Wii (hehe... sorry) and PS3, but when it comes down to it which console is everyone gonna get? For me it has to be the PS3, the Wii looks fun and the X-Box 360 has amazing graphics, but in the end i'm a playstation gal!! I just love the games that come out for the PS3!!:heh:

I have a friend that works at Gamestop. Glitches in the PS3, and X-Box 360, and high price (@_@ ) make me not want to get them.

If my parents would let me, I'd get a Wii. I've grown up on Nintendo.

Although, if Ghibli is in KH3, then I'll have to at least RENT a PS3, desu yo.

I'm going to get ALL of them. thats right baby gotta catch em all. lol I collect game consoles and i still have them all. so far the only consoles i am missing at the moment are the next gen. but i will be getting the xbox 360 next month followed by the wii at christmas. then the ps3 bout may next year. either way they're all coming to me ^_^

so thats...120 hours.....% 4 = 30..... hours a week

thats...3 hours on weekdays and 7.5 each day of the wekend.

lol well for me im gonna save up my money. Right now im getting a Wii definately and 360 i might. But at 20$ a week and sometimes bonus money i wonder how long its gonna take me O.o Wii is good. PS3 ISNT godly, if it has a cheaper price then it would be godly, but right now its between, superhuman, and invincible ^^

as far as I know they havent started production, they mean to release in november (as far as I know) thats gonna mean imited availability...and with Sony loosing money with every batch of chips made....plus losses from actualy selling the consoles. I just hope that the console dosent go straight to hell.....I would hate to spend 500-600 bucks on a console only to have no games for it and stuff and have a $600 box that, sure its a Blu Ray player (still the Bluray HD DVD ware....need a winner on that) and good for media stuff...but lets face it....its not what I bought it for.

All I can say is good to luck to Sony.

Wii is CHEAP and offers something new and revolutionary. On top of that, it's Nintendo which means there'll be quality games for it. Nintendo == quality.

Xbox360 has a great design and is customisable (don't underestimate that aspect, it's what made Nokia phones really popular a few years ago!). Next to that it offers the same power the PS3 offers for a lower price and it's more easily accessed by developers since it's quite easy to program for the 360.

PS3 is the strongest machine on paper, but it's already being plagued by bugs and issues. The Cell processor is generating too much heat, so the design had to be revised. Next to that it's harder to fully use the Cell Processor's full potential compared to the 360's Tripple-core PowerPC Processors. On top of that the Graphical card also seems to have issues and might be clocked down from 700 to 650 mhz, putting it on the speed of the 360's GPU. Put with that a price that's higher than a 360+wii together and the fact that the thing is just damn ugly and the fact that it's gonna be released a year after 360 (which is the only comparable machine since the wii targets a different market) and we have a good recipe for failure.

Wii success will depend on the programmers ability to integrate the innovations in the contorlers (that again will depend on how functional the actual controlers are)

360- I agree...only bad thing about the 360 right now is the fact that its game library..is...."jack of all trades master of none" esque.

PS3- I agree...plus (as far as I know) there was some news about upto some % of actual chips produced are useless (it was a big %) this leads me to beleieve that price will go up and availability will go down (I foresee $3000 ps3 is bundles and ebay) the cell processor is both new and cool...but as far as I know its so diferent from the rest that its gonna take a while before developers can actualy take advantage of its full potential (I dont wanna spend $600 on a conosole that I wont see the best of in under a year....cause by that time I could get it at $300).

I personaly dont think any console targets a specific market...mainly cause I seen 20 yr olds who love super smash and mario 64....and 10 yearolds that will pwn you at CoD.

^Yep, my friend told me that Sony (the company that makes the PS3) tried to add a remote controller, like Nintendo did on the Wii. But unfortunately, for Sony, It didn't go that well.

Gameplay > Graphics, and the Wii beats the XBOX360 and the PS3 as well. Microsoft and Sony were too conserned about making their games look amazingly "static" and "realistic effects" and weren't all concerned about gameplay.

Nintendo was conserned about upgrading graphics, but their games look like you could actually quit your job to keep playing them.

It's been closing to 3 years since then-you can't say that Graphics was the hold back, in their interviews, they mention about "Graphics" and all that about 1/8 of the time, and 7/8 about the story, features and gameplay itself.

I'm planning on getting Xbox 360, the Wii, and the PS3. Yes, all three. Where am I gonna get the money..? that'll be figured out later...
acutally, I'll get the PS3 if Final Fantasy VII is re-made with better CG and stuff. If that happens, I'm not getting the other 2... but if they don't, I'll just get all three as planned.

I think the Wii has been announced at $250 and its shipping after the PS3's current release date.

Whether I would prefer the X-Box 360 or the PS3 though, I am not sure ... but I think Sony is more DRM-embracing than Microsoft, OTOH pushing Blu-Ray seems rather nice for backup purposes, although I do prefer solid-state storage technologies (they are just not quite there yet).

So Sony investing in Blu-Ray isn't *that* bad an idea IMHO...

Even if they don't need all that extra space (maybe some games compress select data to make more fit onto a DVD), more space = less compression = faster loading times...and the thing I hated most about the transition from cartridges to discs was the introduction of loading times =/

no...1080i is the future (whether you can afford it or not) so it makes sense to push that.

Blu ray-HD-DVD on the other hand is a format war...hopefully it will turn out to be better for the consumer..but right now IMHO its not worth it to bet on any of them.

Minor nitpick: the PS3's edge is 1080p output, not just 1080i (progressive and interlaced, respectively). Actually, the Xbox 360 is getting a software update to allow 1080p too, from 720p / 1080i, which it was before, but this is very recent news.
Besides, I'm not so sure anymore about the two companies' DRM policies. They seem to be doing cat and mouse game.

I would get the Wii, it's smaller, portable, and to my opinion has better games and functions (remote control). I really wanna play that WarioWare game and SSBB (Super Smash Bros Brawl)

I'll go with Wii too its cheaper and unlike sony's ps1 and ps2(broken piece of junk) i know nintendo systems will be working for years to come. Even our old nintendo still works.

Wii is pretty cool, I tested it out at the Hawthorne Hights concert last week. The Nintindo Fusion Tour. But I want the PS3 the most.
