Its school time and you know what that means, Football Friday Night! but more importantly Marching Band season is here! I know a few members are in the marching band at their school, but how many here actually are? What's your show this year? What do you play?
Its my third year in the pit (drumline- mallets) and I love it. No marching for me! :P Our show is awesome this year. The theme is Rockin' the Arena. Its a tribute to the arena bands, or so my director says. We're doing More than a Feeling-Boston, Carry On My Wayward Son- Kansas, Come Sail Away- Styx, and Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen. The best thing about our music is that its arranged by Bob Thurston who arranges the music for the Marine bands. And then my percussion director writes the drumlines parts (he's got his masters in composition from Cincinatti conservatory). Enough bragging from me.
Oh and if you're going to look my band up, we're Pickerington CENTRAL, not North. North stinks. Central's better.

You lucky...woman. But pit looks pretty cool, actually.
Aha, my time to brag. Sorta. This is my first year in marching band (I hate being a freshman, you don't know squat about anything), playing flute. Although my shoulder hurts from carrying it, it's still light, but I'm not a good marcher. Our show is called FEAR, and I really love it! It's in four parts: Claustrophobia, Agora/Aquaphobia, Metallophobia, and Kinetophobia. Right now, my favorite one is the second one because it's slow, we barely move, and it's easier than the others XD. The person who wrote it is John M. Meehan, and apparently my band director was one of the people who convinced him to start writing music for marching bands.
Apparently, my school is really famous for it's woodwind section...the style of our school is to have a 'woodwind run', when we play all these notes all at once, really fast. It makes judges go crazy, or so I've heard.
Sadly, I don't think I'll ever meet any other marching band people from Ichigo's, unless your school has a great band program and you live in the West Coast T_T

I'm in marching band! ^-^ I play the clarient! This is my...3rd year doing it ( so that makes me a junior ) and I love it! unfortunatly our show this year is Grease..you know, the movie..yeah..i'm not a fan, lol, but the show is coming along rather quickly! I can't wait for the competitions to start! Our school hosts one every year called Crown of Champions! It's loads of fun! but anyways, enough of my babbling lol. Woo, Go marching band people!!!

Ohh, we're almost done learning the drill for our show "The Rise and Fall of Rome" by Key Poulan. It's pretty awesome so far. We have this really cool set in the second movement, the ballad. It's during "the amen" (there's some musical term for it, but our director just calls it the amen) when we all form this huge cross laid diagonally on the field. Its pretty cool.

I'm in the Hempfield Area Senior High School Spartan Marching Band. Sondagger probably know a bit about our band. Our band is pretty good I guess. We have played in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California on new years day and we have been invited to play for the pope in the new years day parade in the Vatican and for the 2008 Olympics in China. This year our band has only 200 members and 20 trumpets, but I the past we have had 250 members and 30 trumpets. I play the Trumpet in the band, first chair, and I am basically the go to guy. This year our show includes...

ACDC, that's different. But then again at one of our competitions one band was doing a Metallica show. I proposed the idea to my band director (since I like metallica) and it was shot down. Dang. I didn't actually see it, but it was a cool idea.
A recording would be cool. Maybe there's one on the school site. BTW, here's our band website if anyone's interested. Yay! (http://www2.pickerington.k12.oh.us/bldgs/central/bandweb%201/index.html)
Quick notes: The site admin is our loverly senior tuba. He's really good, but he can't acess the school server yet, so the site is kinda shoty. There are recordings of the songs were're playing, but they're not by us (stinky Finale Recordings, but they get the job done) (at least the first set). We're not doing Karn Evil Nine anymore because our show was too long. It got cut. =[ So you know sorry about that, but there's nothing I can do.

Im a junior in the Vero Beach High School Band. Thats in Florida. I play 3rd trumpet (despite the fact that Ive been playing For 9 years). Our band is huge with 190 members. Oh yeah we played in the Macys Thangiving Parade in 1991, if that matters at all. The trumpets in our band are a bunch of immature idiots (myself included), but were trying to work up the maturity that is apparently required to have our own cheer. Its either going to be Gerudo Valley from Zelda or the Mario theme.
BTW Do they have FAMU in the other states? Tell me if you know what FAMU is.

Don't worry, it'll eventually show up on youtube. Haha, did anyone see the Cadets' show? that was... horrible lol. They went too far with colorguard roll-playing and stuff. I don't like shows like that. takes too much focus off of the music.
I went to a competition last year and there was a band that did a show about typing i guess... and at different points of the show marchers would hold up signs on the field with words on them (typewriter kinda font)
and no one really payed attention to the music and drill, they were too busy reading.

Good news! Me drumline friend taped the DCI championships, so I get to watch after all! Yay!
Question: How does states work in your state?
We go to competitions for a rating. If you get a 1, then you qualify for states. Anything lower to a 5 you don't. The lower the number the higher the score. Fun.

im not sure if we have somehting like that...? maybe we do and i just don't know about it. Maybe there's something like that With BOA (bands of America), like we go to the super regional and maybe the top bands there move on to grand nationals or something like that.
i don't know, last year at BOA I think we got 22nd out of 40 or 50, so maybe we wouldve been invited to grand nationals if we got like top 5 or ten or something

Hey, first post, and proud to be part of this forum...
I belong to the Catheral City High School bands, specifically the Symphonic Band and the Marching band ("Royal Lion Regiment"). (CCHS Band Website (http://www.cchsbands.org/)) Our band program has been officially recognized by the state of California and by some of its Representatives. We've had a lot of other acheivements as well, including playing in the 2005 Chicago State Street Parade, and the Symphonic band will be playing at Carnegie Hall in April of '07, one of only two bands playing there (the other band is a collegiate group). We have produced two CDs, and i can share some of the music with anyone interested (I can send mp3s via Email)
Anyway, I'm not sure what this year's show is called, but it includes:
1. Reflections of Form By Richard Saucedo
2. Reflections of Sound By Richard Saucedo
3. Minimally Speaking, Part I By Richard Saucedo
We're going to be performing this at Colony High in about four weeks, and again at Palm Springs High in the beginning of December. Post or PM/Email me if your band will be at one of these competitions, or if you want more info!

Ah, gotta love marching band... Though it creates for the busiest time of the year. But hey i don't care! I'm on the drumline (tenors) and my band is getting already WAY better than last year.
Our field show is Alice in Wonderland this year, so it totally rocks! we all wear shirts with card symbols on them, and our drum major (the queen) actually comes onto the field to play croquet w/ Alice and there are Wickets, Flamingo mallets and a ball!
If anyone happens to go to So Cal competitions, watch for us, we're the Thundering Mustang Stampede. In fact we go to Etiwanda tomorrow for competition. And as of right now, i'm off to play for our football game.

I hope i'm not too late on this thread, seeing as marching season just ended yesterday for me. We have one more performance, but thats at an away game for football(and we all know football players dont care =/). But this year, we had a show commissioned just for us. Its really pretty hard. I played flute during marching season, and this is the hardest music our marching band has ever seen, its on a college level. So needless to say, being a freshman, this music is CRAZY challenging for me.
Its a pretty cool show though overall. its gotten us a lot of superior's and first divisions, of course we've worked our butts off to earn those too. Its a 1920's gangster themed show. "Second city nights, Chicago Jazz" or something like that...i wish i had the music sitting here right in front of me.
No BOA for us though. Our band doesn't exactly have the budget. And to the person from Flagstaff arizona, ask your director what you're playing next year. I believe our director told us that a school in arizona was purchasing it from us to use for next year, and the name flagstaff sounds really familiar ^_^.

Its official. We're marching the Fiesta Bowl Parade in 2007-2008 (my senior year). In 2008, they're marching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade (I just might have to come back). Also when we're down at the Fiesta Bowl next year my director was thinking about looking into the BOA championships. This is all so exciting.

>.> Ok I'm REALLY late for this, but I'm a Junior Flute player. I've been in marching band 4 years, yes 4. I started off 3 years playing the picolo, and my new school happened to favor flutes over pics so this year i'm marching flute. Its no biggy, cept those friggen slides to the left are annoying. My band is called "California High School Entertainment Unit", and this year our show is called Kong. I forgot the names of the songs (:heh: ) but we do three, There is the Oppener "Its Deserted, Jack Captured" , "Beutiful" , and "Tooth and Claw, Beuty Killed The Beast". Mind you i'm not 100% sure, on our oppener and closer, but I know for a fact we play "Beutiful". We're ok for a AAA band, we're 5th in our region, but thats because we're going against 2 (recently MAX) AAAA bands, Yeah they lost alot of members this year, but they are still a BIG AAA band. So if your High School is in the vicinity of Whittier, WATCH OUT FOR US! @_@

I'm a freshman so it was my first field-show-performance.
This year was the best year of our band!
They would usually get last place. But not this year! We did super good! haha
I remember at a competition this band right before us played the same show! Same music but different drill.
We were waiting at the goal post while they were playing and our director made us turn around so we wouldn't watch them.
They sounded horrible!
We beat them musically and I think drill wise to.

Don't you hate it when the band before you plays the same thing? That happened the year before I was a freshman. At least you did better than them. :)
We kinda felt like that this year when our band did Alice in Wonderland, and then I noticed at the DCI quarterfinals that The Cadets did the same show! I do have to say, I like the way our show came out better... I wasn't particularly fond of the way they expressed Wonderland.
I'd post our show on youtube or something if i knew how to get it on my computer from the dvd... but I don't. anybody else have their show posted on a website anywhere?

I'm in marching band or I was. I had an awesome senior year. You can't beat marching finals in Grand Nationals.^_^ What an amazing feeling.
I love it and all, but I think I may be done with marching. I don't know whether I'll do it in college or not. I know, however, that nothing will ever compare to my senior year.:\

I might try out for (Yeah!) Drum Core next year, or trombone. Probably more for drum core. I was messing around on our mallets, and this totally genious drummer (In our Jazz Band btw) said I should try-out for it next year.
I was honored, and thinking about it.
Also, our band director wants me to play piano WITH the marching band. Some concerto, and I would be on a piano in the center of the marching area--I need to be in the band to do that, so need to make up decisions for it. :heh:

Ha, this year at one of the parades my band went to there was this other band that had someone marching with a piano. They had a cheap little two octave electric piano hooked to an amp on a dolly. It was a sight to be seen!

January 25th, 2007, 12:45 am
Wow, the closest we got was an electric one for our field show.
Mum was in your band as a majorette and she said that you guys (hempfied) do a lot more parades than we do. So yeah. We're not good enough to have our piano player march with us. Not even our electirc bass player~
Pantalaimon10

Trust me, having a pianist march on the field is not a sign of a good band. Synthesizers on the sidelines can have some great effect though.
Anyone here a quad player?

Its up! Our states show is up and running. On the left column the last three you tube files make up our whole show. The first part being on the top of course. If you're looking for me I'm in the pit. The first instrument I'm on is the vibe closest to the field commander stand. Then I move to the marimba closest to the field commander stand, and then I move to the marimba furthest away from the stand on the far left. I've got my long blond hair (although now its shorter) pulled back on the first two in a realtivly low ponytail. By the thrid song (Bohemian raphsody) I've taken my hair down for a little stunt you'll have to watch to find out.
Oh, there's another blone chick playing with me on the last song, she's got short hair that's half over her face. That's not me.
Enjoy!

Hey I'm in marching band and right now I'm in the midst of Winter Percussion band. Is anyone else here involved in winter percussion? It's a lot of fun. We go to competitions all up and down the west coast. On Saturday we go to Portland, and we'll later on be heading to Washington, and down to San Francisco and LA (I think). I play mallet percussion in the pitt and also the synthesizer in the pitt. Go to www.gprocks.com if you want to see my band's website and www.gphsdigital.com to listen to the music. Eye Witness was our last year's winter percussion show. It was based on the movie, "Secret Window." The visuals were intense. And the music was pretty good too.

The Blue Devils pulled that move in this past year's show, but it was The Godfather.
Still freaking amazing though.

Haha, you better believe it! It's way more fun than marching band. I actually just got back from a competition. We came in second only by 0.2 of a point. <_< But it was good. Except the strong wind and the parallel rain...and the 10 hour round-trip bus ride.

Yeah, I am not in favor of doing an Alice in Wonderland show at my school. But the description of the Phobias one sounded really cool. And yes, all of our shows are customly written and designed. In fact our parts are so custom, that when I started playing piano/synth for winter percussion our composer measured my hand to see how far I could reach when playing chords. I can play a 9th but no farther. Our composer has photographic memory and can listen to a part of soundtrack from a movie and write ensemble music based on it after only listening to it once. He usually writes his own stuff though for our shows. He's starting to gain some fame in Oregon and is so busy. I hope he doesn't become too famous, until I'm out of highschool that is. :P

Yeah, over the next year I think I'm going to attempt to write a Marching Band song if I have any time. I'm gonna be in it next year since my director says he's doing something with a pianist (myself) and the marching band. 10th to 12th grade options:

~Varsity Band. Same thing as Symphonic Band, except a few trips here and there, and audition required.
~Concert Band. It's basically the Marching Band at the high school... (10-12 is High School over here). Plus there's always a trip to Sweden and Iceland (think about it; it's far. Mozart Clarinet Concerto- K. 622- the first movement. I have played Clarinet for only 4 years, and I can play this :) (usually, an 8 year player can play this). What's surprising is that I don't have a private teacher (I have absolutely NO idea how I was able to teach myself this piece...).

Hmm.. I'm from Palos Verdes Peninsula High from Rolling Hills Estates, California.. We're a pretty small band, in the AA division... or A.. Something down there haha.. But we were at championships this year.. Also, I'm in Drumline as it's winter season, and we just went to WGI regionals in Union City. It was our first one, and we got a 65 or so. Our theme is Yellow, and we play music like Yellow by Coldplay and Yellow Submarine by the Beatles. Even though the score was low, it was WGI and our first too... aha
For our Band Season field show, I don't remember what scores we got, but we got a few sweepstakes and placed top 10 in California in our division... I don't even remember what our theme was D:

Holy cow! I was totally there at WGI regionals in Union City too! I was in scholastic A division. Grants Pass High from Southern Oregon. We came in second. Our show is "A Work in Progress" (which I named by the way) and it's like a day in the life of a run-of-the-mill guy who's late for work and makes it through traffic, suffers through work at the office, then comes home late, goes to bed and then our last part of the show is him waking up again. It was kind of low-key compared to our past shows but I like it. I'm in the pitt and I play the vibraphone and the synthesizer. Did you see our show? I didn't get to see yours unfortunately. What kind of drum do you play?
Cheers!

WOW I should have come here a few days earlier, maybe we could have met xD
I saw your show, it was in finals right? We were in scholastic A too, but we came in last T_T;. It's our first WGI regional anyway, and half of our drumline is new, so I think it turned out well xD.
I recall two shows of jobs.. I can't seem to remember which was yours, though. I know one of them was in open... Do you have pictures?
I play bass 4, but I REALLY want to play snare.
Did you see the other shows in finals? I really liked the game show one, and the magnetism one.
@Jumpoff, I don't remember competitions all that well, I'll look around for a calendar xD.
On a side note..
It's my first year in drumline, but my second in hornline
(band season->hornline, winter season->drumline haha)
I'm the trumpet section leader currently, but I probably won't retain it.. and I probably won't try to haha. Too many talented trumpets are... Killing me xD.

Yeah, it would have been cool to have met you there. Well there's always other WGI competitions next year. The only one left I have is in Vancouver, WA and is the Northwest championships. My band director thinks we can go to WGI national championships in Dayton, Ohio next year. I hope so, that would be amazing. I saw the Magnet one too. The drumline was amazing, but the pitt's music wasn't really musical. All it was all loud chords and chromatic scales. But the drumline's performance skills alone were enough to make them win and so they did. I liked the Freelancers' show a lot too and the James Logan High Spider's Lair one. When they did the distorted Itsy Bitsy Spider part I felt like I would fall off my chair it was so cool. You know, I bet we were in the stadium in the same section of seats at the same time. Two Ichigoers and we didn't even know it. What a bummer.

We were at that hotel! And Luke is my friend! He's our tenor player and those were our tenor guys! He told me all about hitting on your tenor chicks. He called their room and said, "Hi is there a Kayla in this room?" I think he heard one of your girls names was Kayla and he got Kiko's (sp.?) phone number I know. He said he was going to Myspace them when he got home. This is so weird! We were in the same hotel at the same time in the same city for the same purpose and we probably saw each other too. I mean I saw your group all over the hotel mostly during breakfast time and when we arrived on Friday. I probably saw you. And I checked my Ichigo's account on that computer in that little business room to the left of the main door. Oh my gosh, this pretty much blows my mind. Heh, and we had an 8 hour ride home too. Oh, and we were in Scholastic Open class actually, not Scholastic A. And we practice on Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30-9 and Saturdays 9 am to 9 pm and sometimes sectionals on Thursdays. What about you guys?

^Yep, it's only available to Sophomores (in High School) and higher... :P Only in my Freshman year. If I auditioned right, I may be in it next year, but I'll have to wait until the 26th of March. :P
My School District System (I'm in 9th grade):
7th to 9th Grade--- Regular Band program, no audition needed.
10th to 12th grade options:
~Symphonic Band. It's only a semester (some can choose a year) long :P . It's not special in any way, basically a "beginner's program"; scale testing, technique development, etc... Plus no audition required.
~Varsity Band. Same thing as Symphonic Band, except a few trips here and there, and audition required.
~Concert Band. It's basically the Marching Band at the high school... (10-12 is High School over here). Plus there's always a trip to Sweden and Iceland (think about it; it's far. I live in Minnesota). I'm hoping I made it to this one; I auditioned with a College-leveled piece, so I probably did :) . I just have to wait until the 26th...

I think the reason for that is because, in 7th-9th grade, the middle schools are already considered to be "symphonic bands" (just learned that today).
Thanks everyone. I just learned a secret today that I wish I could have learned before :\ . If I played my clarinet at a 45°, the spitty tone is not an issue. Oh well.

Yeah, marching cymbals is about 95% visual, since the mallets usually have the part doubled on their cymbals anyway. It's pretty impressive when you've got eight or ten cymbal marchers - they can practically blind you. -_-

The band this year is small compared to other years because of a director change. This year we have about 150-170 but normally we have around 300 members. At one time we had 23 Sousaphones!
Yeah the show in it's entirety is 16 mins but of course at football games you can only play 10mins so we decide where to start in the show.
EDIT: In fact this week is our spring trip to Disney World to march in the Magic Kingdom on Friday the 27 if anyone is interested.

You're about two months too early to meet my band. Not that you would want to. <_< We didn't march. Cuz a) our marching chops are shot (still) and b) We're not really good enough to play and march at the same time.

A man by the name of W. Roy Mitchell writes all of our music especially for us. His site is http://www.wroymitchell.com/ He is easy to work with and does a good job.
A 16min show isn't uncommon. The good bands have 3 or 4 different shows with different drills. Plus it would be very boring to play the same songs every game. We just pick a place to start in the show and play for 10 min and get off the field.

If so, I'm in the other marching band that's going to China: The Pearl City High School Charger Marching Band from Hawaii :) Trust me, we're not that good, they only picked us cuz we had a reputation in the past because of Mr. Sato (now teaching Damien High School), Mr. Nakasone (now conducting the Royal Hawaiian Band) and Mr. Kamisato (now old and retired from the marching band but still teaching regular band at our school). Our present director is now Mr. Kamei who's been teaching us for one year and is a pushover. Seriously. He holds practices once a week for an hour. When we had a field show, it took us months to get through it (Epic Journey by Gary P. Gilroy) (3 times a week) and the music was HORRIBLE. No joke. The brass - tubas are always out of tune, trombones are always blasting and are horrible (same with saxes) and trumpets just can't play. In the past we've been invited to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, the Tournament of Roses Parade and some other stuff in Japan and elsewhere. I hope we don't make fools out of ourselves and suck and shame Hawaii and the U.S. and stuff :( I mean, look at Moanalua High School Menehune Marching Band! They're the best in the state (IMO) and they have that Hawaiian flavor China wants... Look up their field shows on YouTube. They're awesome :o (Well, at least compared to us, lolz).
EDIT: Never mind: "Pearl City is one of two U.S. bands to be asked to attend the Beijing Olympic International Youth Festival, coming up July 9-18 [2007]. The other band is the Danvers Falcon Marching Band of Massachusetts."

Yeah we were invited to go but we turned it down I think. I think it's because...
1. OMG it's clear over in China!
2. It would be in the summer and we are not active in the summer.
3. What's there to do in China?
Money wasn't the problem, we raise about $400,000.00 a year so...yeah.Anyway it's not my worries anymore. Marching band is now officially over. I just marched in my last parade at the Magic Kingdom in Florida on Friday.

For us, it's only football season and some community parades, some Honolulu parades and there's sometimes a trip to the Mainland or Japan or China. I can imagine how much better it'd be if our teacher would actually help us to become better, haha. (Psst. Wanna know a secret? He went to a Canadian school and majored in English. Then he said, "I wanna become a band teacher." He's so young and stupid. x_x)

Oh, you guys are so lucky!
Where I live, there is ONE marching band in the entire county. And we stink. I play the flute in it, but ya can barely hear us over the booming of the drummers and the trumpets in most cases. It's a community-type thing, so everybody who auditions, no matter their skill level, gets in (we aren't playing now, but sometimes the band'll get together and practice). So, we never get invited to ANY parades besides local ones. Oh well, the director is cool, he's a great musician and our band would be like five thousand times worse without him. :)

That's common of most woodwind instruments. Its the nature of the sound, and also the shape of the instrument. The trumpets bells are pointed out, so that's where the sound goes.

What drums? That probably has a lot to do with it... I'm one heck of a quad player, but I probably could not make the snare line... my trad sucks.
Pit's nothing to be depressed about, unless they told you outright that they put you there cuz you're not good enough for the line, which I'm sure was not the case.
Our tryouts are next Friday... I hope we get some good Pitties from the middle schools. ^_^

When it really boils down to it, there's really not much technique involved in playing a cymbal on a marimba. What the player does with the marimba is another ball game, though.

My pit instructor would have a fit if she could hear you :P. She's all about playing the cymbal with technique even if it's attached to a mallet instrument. We once spent a half-hour of winter percussion practice standing there rolling and crashing our cymbals. She wanted us to get used to playing the cymbal not just like we're hitting something. She is very much into performing.

The man who composes and arranges our music for marching band also conducts the local community orchestra. He asked me if I would play the piano part for Four Dances from Gyermektancok by Zoltan Kodaly at the last minute, because the pianist who was going to play it had an emergency and couldn't be there. He gave it to me at band rehearsal on Friday, and the concert was on Sunday. So, my band director let me out of practice to go to the orchestra practice. I basically only had time to sight-read. I played on Sunday, with only one practice, and I only made one (noticable) mistake. ^.^ I was really nervous though and I was shaking. Heh.

I doubt that's going to happen; based on personal experience. It's mostly "popular music" that is played at concert bands.

Well, I like Disney music. But yes, that seems like too much of it.
Let's see: "Disney At The Movies" is made up of these songs:
"Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" <--- insane on the high woodwind part(s). I just realized it is in cut time :heh: .
"A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes" (From "Cinderella")
"Never Smile At A Crocodile" (From "Peter Pan")
"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" (I don't know if I spelt that correctly.) Octave jumps on Clarinet. Clarinets are not built for octave jumps -_-.
"The Bare Necessities" ("Jungle Book").
"Under The Sea" <--- random glissandos. Octave jumps. But not as bad.
"Beauty And The Beast"
"Be Our Guest" <--- as insane with the woodwind parts as Zip-A-De-Doo-Dah is. In the worst key, too @_@. Concert Ab Major. Then it's in cut time...
"Friend Like Me" <--- Probably the hardest part in this whole song. It's just getting the rhythms even.
"A Whole New World" <--- slow. But so short -_-. 9 Measures.
"Circle Of Life" <--- hard. Demands even 16th notes. Then there's trying to blend it with all of the other instruments.
"Can You Fell The Love Tonight" <--- same as "Circle of Life"
"Colors of The Wind" <--- insane 32nd note ending @_@ . So slow, yet it needs to be so even for the 16th notes.
There's a somewhat-great recording of this.

Oh, and I had braces for a couple of years, and actually they don't start really hurting until the next morning after you get them put on.
I'm in marching band on west coast! i remember seeing your show. but i forgot what school it was haha. our show was emerson lake and palmer, progressive rock! woo. haha i was in drumline marching snare. i dont do heavy drums. haha pretty tight though.Ima be a junior next year. Were gonna be doin the music of tchicovsky i know that spelled way wrong. haha

That's why our marching band stinks. See, almost nobody would bother with double tonguing. They either skip the passage completely, or they just substitute. =D I wonder if this is related to the fact that 99.9999% of the members probably wouldn't even agree to free private lessons if they were offered. I can name only around 4-5 people who actually care. =D
Anyways, we'll be marching at the 4th of July parade in a few weeks, which means one thing--XXL T-shirts! We don't wear our uniforms in community parades anymore, as there was one incident in which someone fainted from the heat. Instead, we wear shorts and a T-shirt. The T-shirts are sponsored by the garbage company, so we don't have to pay for them. And said shirts come in 2 sizes--XL, and XXL. Okay, maybe there are, like, 2 mediums and a large somewhere in there, but those always end up with someone who could wear a an XL without drowning. (This is coming from an XS-wearer who got stuck with XL for 3 years in a row. Also, I fail at shrinking clothes. Haha! XD)

It was not gay and it did not sound bad. With the right arrangements and the right drills it can look absolutely amazing.

We have to of the nation's leading drill and music staff helping us with our show, Darin Davis and Wes Cartwright. There is audio for you guys in my Arrangements Thread in the Composition forum. Seeing as how we cannot post file attachments here. Mr. Davis used a synthesizer that's worth around 2.5k to make these recordings. He manually played all of the parts on the keyboard. It's insane lol.
The first file is parts 1 and 2
The second is parts 3 and 4
