@ Tranquility

Hm.. In my opinion there are too many songs just like this one =P It isn't bad though, it has some good turns, but nothing to mindblowing.

@ Reminisensce

Link not working ;_;

I thought that "Tranquility" was well done. Although it did remind me of a few songs that I have heard in the past (kind of Ironic that you didn't name IT "Reminiscence"), which is perfectly fine, considering the songs it reminded me of were songs that I liked, although more originality would help bring out it's true potential. I think you can add a bit of flare to that song if you were to add an extra part, such as a cello or flute. That would certainly contribute to the name of the song, considering the Cello's and Flute's clean and soothing tone.

VERDICT

+ ~ Clean and very soothing melody.
+ ~ Good variance of chords.
- ~ Needs more originality.

Overall Rating ~ 8/10 Better than most thing I heard, but still not quite where it could be.

Ok. As for "Reminiscence" I am going to have to disagree with your friends. I like this one a lot better because it has much more originality. It sounds very nice as is, and the title fits very nicely (I'm glad you can make titles; I suck at doing that), So i find no use for an extra part. On the down side, it didn't have as much chord variance as "Tranquility", But you did at least throw in an occasional 7th chord, which was a nice change.

VERDICT

+ ~ Good originality
+ ~ Compelling Melody; It's on my playlist now.
- ~ Needs more chord variance

Overall Grade ~ 9/10 I can see this being a sad theme for a video game or anime. Consider entering it in the "Composition of the Month Awards".

Just to let you know, these songs were made for a school project since i was in a Music composition class. Except the time constraints really limited my choices of instrumentation. So on Tranquility, I originally planned to have a soprano vocal over the piano but i didn't have the time to finish (plus my friend who was gonna do the part was really busy since it was the end of the school year with projects and stuff) so that part never came together.

Here's another one that i didn't really like...

The recording process kinda screwed up the song for the MP3 but the Midi was even worse before i remastered it with my brother's recording studio. So yeah... But i hope you guys like it

this was live recording using Reason (a 200 dollar recording and arranging program) on my brother's Roland Phantom keyboard but it was remastered at my music teacher's music studio with his keyboard and his Ibook with Garageband (another program).

Now I don't like the Flight song at all. The beginning is trying to tell the listerner that there will be a melody soon, but none comes up until the song has reached 1:30 ~ And that melody is not strong enough to be called a melody.

Tranquility was a nice song. The melody needs to be worked on, but the notes go VERY well together. Its peaceful just as the title suggests, starts out well and ends very nicely also. This song was overall really good, and you did a great job. 9/10, just work on that melody!
