There are many with lots of emotion in them. Let's see...

FFXI Opening Theme (chior part) - Nobuo Uematsu
Remember - Hans Zimmer
To Die For (second part) - Hans Zimmer
The Funeral - Greg Edmonson
Elysium/Honor Him - Hans Zimmer (both very haunting and a perfect fade in to Now We Are Free, the hopeful one of the triad)
Terra's Theme Piano Version - Nobuo Uematsu
Death on the Snow Field (Terra's Theme Remix) - I forget, but I'll post it when I remember

There are plenty more, but those are brushed off the top of me head.

For some reason, it's 'Tori no Uta' and 'Natsukage' both from an anime and game called Air (you can find it @ http://gendou.com/). Which is weird, because the first is an upbeat j-pop song, and the latter is soft and in a major key....but check them out. Maybe you'll feel something as well...

For me, I think Sadness and Sorrow piano version from Naruto is very sad. Also, for some reason, I think that Alone on clarinet from Naruto is sad also even though it is supposed to be a happy song. I guess I just feel the sadness behind the song's exterior.

Oh.. I thought you meant "Anakin's Betrayal" (or something like that) when all the Jedis are getting killed. That's more of a sad tune than Battle of the Heroes.

For me, it's most of the music from Wolf's Rain because I connect so much sadness and crying with it...
- Cloud 9
- Tell me what the rain knows (especially this one! I almost cry everytime I hear it)
- Gravity
- Heaven's not enough
Then some other stuff:
- Story board by the Album Leaf
- Listen to the rain by Evanescence
- Pardonné by Kyo
- Christofori's Dream by David Lanz

For me, it depends on the sadness I'm feeling. It may be "Kami no Kourin" [Melody of Tears] by Shinkichi Mitsumune (from Yu-Gi-Oh!), but most of the time its either "Venetian Boat Song No. 2" or "Fantasia on a Theme" (by Vaughan Williams, if I'm not mistaken.)

String Quartet in F major by Maurice Ravel...it's not that sad if you listen to it only once, but if you listen to it again you will begin to see how sad it really is. I wrote a storyline for a ballet called Elsa based on this piece. My friend is going to help me choreograph it.

Hurt by Nine Inch Nails is extremely sad... Amalia Rodriguez and other fado artists write really nostalgic tunes, some see this as sad, I don't always feel this way about it... Prisoners of Fate from the Chrono Cross OST is one that pulled at my heart strings, partly because of the scene that accompanied it

Saddest song, eh? Wow, I can name a bunch off the top of my head in no particular rank, so let's just stick with the first few that come to mind. ;) I can't seem to pinpoint THE saddest one.

-"Ever the Same" by Rob Thomas is one that really gets to me. I don't quite know why, but it feels strangely nostalgic. This happens to be my favorite "hammock song." (i.e. a song I like to listen to while swinging in my hammock. ='D)

-Half the songs off both of the Rurouni Kenshin OAV soundtracks are pretty sad. Nuff said.

-"Incessant Rain" from Honey and Clover--this one ranks pretty high in my list, partly because of the anime scenes that are associated with it. Even without Honey and Clover in mind, this piece still stands on its own, so yay. :)

-"In the Deep" by Bird Yolk

-"Lux Aurumque" by Eric Whitacre--I'm still debating over this one, as I can't decide whether I think it's sad or just plain beautiful. Oh well. I guess both works. Also, I preferred the orchestral/band version over the choral one, as the sound seems to be much warmer when performed in a band of some sort.

I don't really find any remarkable pieces being 'sad' or melancholic. Though, I can hear some pieces implying some sort of bitter feelings, and an example would be Ravel's Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte (yes, it's not the saddest piece, but when I listen to it, there's something that always gets my attention). Being a peculiar person, I literally never find incidental music (like music from movies and animes) 'sad'.

For me, it's 'Heaven'. I'm not sure who the original is, but the remake is DJ Sammy & Yanou. But that's merely personal - it was the song played at my best friend's sister's funeral, and thus makes me sad every time I hear it (ironically I still like it...)

For me? "The Stampede" ("...To Die For" in some releases) or "King of Pride Rock", both from the best Disney movie, The Lion King. Hans Zimmer owns my soul...

Besides that, "Debriefing" from Metal Gear Solid 3 by Harry Gregson-Williams and

Point is - I'm terrified of spiders - does that negate my "tomboy" status?

- Dancing (Elisa)
- Breaking of the Fellowship (Howard Shore)
- Hope and Memory (Howard Shore)
- Tennessee (Hans Zimmer)
- Central Park (James Newton Howard)
- Homeward Bound (Marta Keen)
- No-One But You (We Will Rock You)
