O.K. Here are some of my compositions that i've been workin on. ummm... i've taken a break from composing. i haven't composed music for like a month or two now. I'm lazy. XP none of em are finished except for one song. the other songs, i have to expand on. a lot. well, these are all in MIDI format. here they are, these unfinished pieces of crap. enjoy! ^_^ please, tell me what u think. suggestions, whatever.

These songs are awesome! I didn't listen to them all, but from what I heard, it sounds great! What program did you use to compose these in?

oh YAY! ^.^ my first review! Thank u, Sakura! :)

hmmm... program. I used the freeest/crappiest one. NoteWorthy Composer. (freeest?)
I wish my mom would buy me sibelius or finale or sumthin, but she would never do that. She always discourages me from composing music. She tells me im wasting my life doing nonsense. :(

Hey, don't knock Noteworthy - it's a good little program for a freebie, especially if you loathe floating palettes as much as I do ;) And hey, you're doing damn good stuff with it! I like Enticed Into My Demise - reminds me somewhat of Secret of Mana. It's a the type of composition that can be used in a computer game as it can be looped to provide ambience.

Forgiven is really nice! The top line (tremolo string solo?) is quite nice, but perhaps remove the tremolo aspect of it as when the chords are played with that instrument patch it sounds a bit crash-bang-wallopy - maybe just use a standard violin instead? Lovely ending too :)

Reach My Love is quite cleverly executed - you've got a better mastery of Noteworthy than I have as the dynamics are gorgeous! Again perhaps a standard melody instrument would be better for the top line - actually, scrap that as the panning adds a nice effect once you get used to it! Nice piano into - I like!

Reflection is a nice uplifting song - bit of a slow start but good use of the piano and organ together before launching into the piano solo. Nice pacy solo too :)

Saved is quite a cool passage - very rousing! I'd love to see what you do with it as it looks like turning into a really good song :D In terms of constructive criticism - the piece turns into a big forest of strings as it goes along! It sounds nice at the beginning but as the texture gets thicker it's easy to get a bit overwhelmed by String Ensemble 1 ;) If you balanced that out with some other orchestral sections e.g. brass, woodwind etc it would sound totally awesome! :D

The Following Moon is a good fledgling piece - I like the saxophone runs, very nifty! Quite a jazzy style :)

Untitled is a great guitar piece - simple components making a good whole, good choice of instruments and I like the staccato passage in combination with the bass line about 15 seconds in!

Meh, wish I had half your inspiration at the moment - my GCSE composition is due in this month and with the styles being limited to minimalism, serialism, Gamelan and Indian raga, I'm feeling a bit restricted and am stuck with several non-starters :(

Edit: P.S. Don't listen to your Mum - the world needs more composers! ;)

If you wanna listen you may have to right-click the link and do Save Target As - Geocities is playing up!

madmazda86, sorry i didnt listen to ur composition earlier. :(
very awsome song u got there! ^-^ it sounds very nice! i like how it starts off simple and then progresses into a more complex song. Good Job!
say, do u have anymore compositions?

swimfan, sorry i dont have finale so i wouldnt know. but on NWC, i go to file, Save As, then where it says "save as type:", i choose MIDI. i dunno if that helped u, but i tried.

I felt an amazing connection with your Untitled piece. I actually closed my eyes unintentionally while I was listening (a habit of mine, when I want to concentrate on the music)

It has a wicked bass line!!

This was just too nice! I loved the simple melody, the mood, the chords. Everything flowed and fitted together. This sort of thing is one of the hardest lessons to teach to somebody else, but you've already got it down. So I'm not worried about your composing future.

However, half the time, I was actually able to predict how your melody or harmony would turn out. Sad to say it, but stuff like this has been written before. I'm not saying you plaigarized and copied off another song, but I'm saying that you need to break the mold, maybe do something unexpected while still staying within the boundaries of your song.

Also, I think you were overdoing it a bit in the right hand. Dammit, what's the word for it, that vertical swiggly line that tells you to play all the notes of a chord in succession from down to up (or vice versa) . . . but yeah, you did that like every other bar, and it loses effect.

But yeah, the previous two paragraphs are just my personal opinion, I'm not trying to pick on you, haha. I still think you're one of the better composers on this forum. Keep it up!
