Had a hard time naming this thread....

Oh well, to the topic. I have a question about a certain electric guitar "sound".

It sounds like an engine starting or something, and it's quite common. If you listen to Houkiboshi (by Younha), it's the sound that starts the song.

How is it played? Does it have a name? Is it even playable?! Or is it just digital effects??

Thanks beforehand ^.^

There are lots of these functions and distortions on most electric guitars. There's a switch on the guitar body which lets you use these :)

Well, it completely depends on the guitar. If it has a "whammy" bar, then it's rather easy; just bend the note up so it sounds like an engine revving up. If your guitar doesn't have that, then sometimes, recording programs will have a pitch-bending tool. Using that, gradually make the pitch go higher.

Listen carefully. There isn't the electric guitar alone, but also the drums which makes the sounds.

The guitar part uses a power chord, slide and the whammy bar too.
