Yep another tales game, anyone else playing it besides myself. I ofcourse like it alot. Its basically what you can expect from a Tales game and more. So if you like Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Legendia, and any other tales games then you will more then likely like Tales of the Abyss.

Right now I am at Sheridan city.

I'm trying to rescue all the people from St. Binah, because its sinking into the ground.

Well anybody else want to talk about the game.

Well from the talk of all the game chars. they are saying its like the last battle. I'm about to go fight Van at the absorbtion gate but then my team gets separated. But, there are places i still havent went and i have like 150+ mini scenes left so...But, the game is fun and the Lke and Jade comdey is kinda funny.

Yulia City
I can do everyone's primary mystic artes! XD

Of course, I've been too busy with school work to play more...

The only fight that I almost died in was that...the big man thing with four sword that you fought in the castle(the sword in the floor) and and the field in the one of the blue search areas.
Kicked his ass the second time=)

that would be the infamous Sword Dancer! I never died when fighting that guy. (Was over levelled....seriously overlevelled)

I'm seriously underleveled. one group on the field almost killed my party (this woman who has an axe? she keeps spamming a spell that deals around 500 AOE).

Yeah ive beaten both lvl. 1 and 2 Sword Dancer. But wasn't he also in Tales of Symphonia, because he looked a little familiar. And also its sorta hard to beat him too. The first time I won by the skin of my teeth, the second was easier though. I finally got albiore 2(Sp?), its a flying machine, just like in TOS. Man there are so many skits in the game that they are innumerable. There is just 420. But it gets so annoying that when your about to take charge of a dungeon that another skit comes up, and whats worst is that there is no audio just like TOS. But Tales of Legendia did have audio during their skits, why did they switch back to no audio.

Well right know im about to...
Go to Shurrley Hill

I like Tales of the Abyss but I think they sould have made it longer and i really didnt like the skits there is just way to many and I got tired of reading them it needs audio.@_@

ChristopherArmalite

indeed, Tales of Legendia had audio but then this didn't

November 16th, 2006, 02:52 am
Well, there's always Japanese youtube skits in TotA to get you going XD
>=D I love this game <3.
Personally, right now, I like using Tear and Natalia XD while my sister uses Guy or Anise.

I use Jade whenever I get pwned with Luke, because projectiles (by which I mean Mystic Cage) is better than rushing in like a headless chicken and getting owned with one hit

Mugen
November 16th, 2006, 08:16 pm
Tear, Luke, Guy, Natalia FTW. Thats two healers and two attackers. But, Tear can pwn with most of her fonic arts so i guess that makes three.

ChristopherArmalite
November 17th, 2006, 12:45 am
oh yea, my team consists of:
-Luke(controlled by me), a melee attacker to distract enemies and keep them away from the casters
-Tear, spell caster/healer
-Natalia, long range projectiles/healer
-Jade, spell caster (sometimes controlled by me)

I don't use Guy nor Anise because I balanced it out with Luke and Natalia, but sometimes Luke's all alone taking on enemies when the AI decides it's time to heal

Hmmm, weird. I usually have Guy or Anise (stated above way) in my party.

It's usually:
Tear or Natalia (Natalia for right now from where I am in the game)-controlled by me.
Guy or Anise-sister
Jade
Guy/Anise

But I make sure that Luke gets some exposure too ^_^

ah, so you're going with a magic based strategy! Smart!

In terms of using characters, I lied a bit XD
I actually use Guy occasionally in exchange with Luke, I just love his speed, but when it comes to control, I'm more comfortable with Luke.
And I've actually been thinking of using the Map Glitch to permanently obtain Asch, but since this is my first playthrough, I'd rather not risk it until my 3rd or 4th.

Oh and, Cameo battle ROCKS! XD

I beat the game and I'm pissed cause I need ONLY 100 more grade points to get 10x exp the second time around and the only reason I dont feel like going and get 100 more is because... Van gave me hell trying to beat him

pianocrazy90
November 27th, 2006, 04:08 am
@ Mugen-Well, what do we say? Level up, level up, and level up. Yep alot of work, although I haven't beaten the game yet (probably because I have been busy and also because I'm honor soceity student), I do know that if you want something your gonna have to work for it. Because yeah its 10x the normal amount of experience points, now if you were going to play a second time through it would be a breeze. Just go out there to the point at which you saved and go out and battle more enemy's, level up more, and go defeat van. Yep, most certainly alot of work on your part.

My current players are in my team are as follows:
Luke (of course)
Tear (For her healing spells, which come in handy. I don't really prefere
Natalia all that much so, but yeah she is also good as well.)
Guy (For his great offensive attacks)
Jade (For his great offensive spells)

So yeah from my team party, you can tell I'm mostly offensive than healing or supportive type spells.

=_= this games cut scenes are waay too long.. and theres waay too much going back and forth huhu... i dint like the ending either..... but it was a good gaming experience tho haha...

LePapillonRouge
November 30th, 2006, 04:14 am
Well, yeah, especially when you compare it with Tales of Symphonia, but, well, the cutscenes were easier to bear than (at least for me) Star Ocean 3 ^^;

Divine Shadow

Star Ocean 3....I have that and I personally know how that feels even though I love it to pieces. The CG scenes and music were awesome though. I was wondering if I should get this because I liked Tales of Symphonia but I wonder if this is worth the effort. I heard it was good but there were rare bugs that messed up the gameflow and the out world battles takes longer than others and the game was a bit short itself.

Are you sure your finished with the game?

Well, have you defeated Nebilem yet?

ChristopherArmalite
December 7th, 2006, 01:37 am
Of course I have! I'm not about to let the strongest enemy in the game untouched! For an added challenge, I switched it up to hard mode in my first play through XD

I forgot my battle with Nebilim so when I get a chance in my second playthrough I'll post it up as I did with the Final Boss

For my second playthrough, I'll try it on Very Hard/Mania because in Unknown mode, I'll only be doing 1 point of damage for each hit...

LePapillonRouge
December 7th, 2006, 05:43 am
You'll get the Tactical Leader costume for Luke if you beat Nebilim and talk to some people ^^ <3
You know, the best part of Abyss so far: Cameos. Most people wouldn't know, though, but there's some like Lloyd's clothes, Anise's doll heads, Pac Man, etc.

ChristopherArmalite

There's lots of easter eggs and Cameos regarding Namco because it was released in celebration of the Tales Series' 10th anniversary XD
I loved the cameo battles, though they were too easy in normal mode.

That's why you have to grab the x10 exp, consumable item carryover, and C Cores. I don't think it's realistic to try Nebilim on Unknown without maxing out your level (which is at 200, not 100, oddly enough) and getting that +600-800 attack on both Luke and Guy :P
I'm still quite a bit away from grabbing all the Grade I need...I'm not about to give up my Fon Slot Chambers >.>

I love this game. The story isn't as good as ToS but the game play is oh so much better, I think it's by far the best To game ever.

I'm on my second playthrough, trying on one file very hard and one file hard, I tried unkown and barely beat hte first enemy and dodged the rest, until I got to the double enemies at the begining. It's way to hard.

This thread is making me sad...I'm letting someone borrow my copy of ToA...and she's taking a super-long time...

Anyways, I'm scared of going into the Replication Facility (deep within the other entrance to the Wyon/Ortion Cave)...I have 2 million gald...so I think that's enough..even after I beat Nebilim (very hard - took 30 minutes...at least it felt like it...), I still don't feel up to it...

(Random - Motoo Fujiwara and Bump of Chicken = Pure awesomeness!)

is this game worth buying?? pls tell me ur advice because im thinking of buying itIf you like fast-paced action games, go ahead, the battle system kicks rear, but not as much as Destiny Remake's and Destiny 2's...those were amazing, but they never made it to the US. Anyways, I digress, it has fun characters that you'll grow to love, and awesome villains...

Pros:
-Fast, Action-based battles
-No random encounters
-Great Characters and development
-"Spiced-up" cliches
-Added "Mystic Artes" for the North American version
-They gave enemies new "Mysic Artes" too!

Cons:
-A not so hot localization...at least for the voices of some people *cough*Sync*cough*
-Not all save points heal
-You'll find yourself VERY poor for the first "arc"
-VERY annoying main hero at first, some people get to like him, but he just annoys me for the whole entirety of the game
-Some re-used generic cliches

mm. I don't know. I mean I'll say that it seemed a little /meh/ at the beginning. But I think the further it goes on the deeper it goes in... but as much friggen running back and forth there is e__e; it should be an anime or something instead of a game... there's so much content.

I love this game. It is the best game ever in my opinion. Sure, there were a few glitches, but nothings perfect. Its most definately worth buying.

Btw, I hated Luke too.
