Well well well. It appears I have stumbled onto this cool forum here. I must say, i'm intrigued at all the talent and great music here. I've been writing songs for guitar for quite awhile now, so i'm adept at that science. But for piano, which I also play, I seem to find myself unable to write anything. I find myself saying I dont know where to start. I mean like, a solo piano piece. Does anyone out there have any tips for writing some piano stuff? Or is it just a live and learn thing? Ha ha, what a silly question :P

I say start very simple when it comes to piano, even though it may be one of the easiest to compose for? Cause if you get carried away (like me), it begins to sound.. like you're trying too hard. xD

After you start playing piano and more complex songs you can sort of get how to compose for piano. But start out with simple stuff first, then work your way up.

And yea, it is the easiest, but it's also the hardest at the same time.

Hm... I guess you and me both can play the piano at a basic level. I compose for a variety of instruments, and most often I come up with the songs in my head. Try it! Just lie down and decipit the music in your mind and you'll be amazed what you can do :)
