View Full Version : Finale Question (mp3 converting?)

Hey all! :3

I just have a simple question about Finale (I'm using the 2004 version) I was under the impression that you could somehow make your midi composistions sound better by somehow exporting them as mp3s...I had thought finale had mp3 samples of instruments or something that made this possible. The problem is, if it *does* do this, I can't figure out how, as Finale's help file is a stupid pdf file that won't let me run searches through it. XP

Anyway, is what I'm asking about possible in Finale 2004, or any Finale for that matter? Do I need to go out and uh...buy....Finale 2007?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. ;)

If you have the full version, simply go "Save as special; Audio File" and you get a wave-file. You'll need to convert this to an mp3 later.

Ah, thanks. :3
But does that actually make the song sound any different?

Actually, feel free not to answer that, your first response was helpful enough and I'm finding out if it sounds any better by myself as we speak anyway. X3

Also, feel free to erase this thread or whatever since you just totally answered my question, heh. ;)

Edit: Nice, it *does* sound better as a wav. Thanks again. :)

Finale rendered Wave files sound as bad as MIDI-files, imo. They just add their own MIDI library and add a phony reverb to it <_<

A-wha? Finale's just using midi too? They have a pretty decent midi set then, because anything I put in there sounds a lot better than what windows media pumps out.

So then Finale doesn't use samples from real instruments? Are there any composing programs that *do?* Or...can I download some kind of library to plug into finale?

No, they're absolutely no real instruments. You can download high quality sample libraries, but they're very big (5 - 35GB most of the time). They don't work very well with Finale, so you'll need to get a sequencer.

Oh, and if your computer has less than 1,5GB of RAM -- then don't get samples ;-)

Well no shit Noir.

Noir7 - BTW, I thought you used Sebelius--or do you use Finale's programs simultaniasly (sp?).

Shouldn't this be in Composition Program Help, anyway?

No it's not that bright actually, it can't handle more than 8 instruments at the same time =P

Anyway, *locks*
