Personally, I think Inuyasha is really overrated. Everyone loves it so much and says how awesome it is, but it just seems like a mix between a soap opera and repetitive fight sceens. That's just my opinion, though. Don't get mad at me!

I kinda agree with all of noir7's except I found Evangelion and the .hack series okay; but not overated.

I think the DragonBall series is really overrated. I can't seem to bring myself to watch it because of how crappy it's become. I don't know about Inuyasha because I love that anime, but then again I've only been able to get my hands on a couple of episodes...maybe it runs for too long on a dying plot? I don't know.

i think the animes that:
talk too much(Naruto is really good but they seem to talk a lot and repetitively, i like some explanation but not too much)
over dramatic (iono a lot)
over serious (wolf's rain- i can't get into it- every time i watch it they were freakin serious about something, still looks cool tho)
and
over action pact (dbz too fast-not as good as the old series of young goku)

are overrated a litte or a bunch!

Really? That's my favorite anime movie! :D It's also what introduced me to anime. Did you not like it, or just thought it was not worth the hype?

As for series.. .hack//SIGN for sure. It just got soooo boring. the only thing that kept me going was the amazing music by Yuki Kajiura. But then I decided listening to the OSTs was far less painful so I gave up around episode 18.

WEll the .hack series is a thinker i like .Hack//Dusk better though XD ntoas much thought in it.

DBZ and Pokemon maybe even Sailor moon- pretty overrated

Almost anime on CN, if not all, I think are overrated. Some of them I like.

Come now... Lupin is definitely not overrated =\ If anything... Lupin is underrated.

Evangelion is definitelly overrated. It's crap besides the actual fights, or last episode. Inuyasha as well, hm oh and rurouni kenshin was pretty boring.

T me the most overrated manga has to be akira....man that was soo crap and gore beyond need. it wasnt scary itt wasnt effective it was crap. I hated that film :huh:

Yea, I do have to say Akria was pretty bad. I cant say Eva is overrated (mainly becasue i love the series and i belong to the NGE:LA forum) nor can I say that Inuyasha is overrated either. Why some may ask? I cant really say why just because I dont know. Maybe those are just series that fit my personality (on oppsite sides of the spectrum i know). On series I think is overrated though is Naruto. It just doesnt seem appealing. I dont think that alot of the shows on CN are really overrated, some seem really underrated though. But the toonami line up, shows on that line up are appalingly overrated.

I just saw Azumanga Dioh...I thought it was going to be great because everyone was saying how great it was. It was funny, but it didn't leave me wanting to see the next volume. By the last episode I was thinking "How much longer till it's over?!" It was okay, just not great. Not what I expected it to be.

Evangelion, huge hype, crap anime.

Definitely the entire Dragonball series. Hellsing may be a *bit* overrated, but I've only seen the first three episodes and liked the manga a lot better.

Love Hina. Pure crap, I don't know how anyone can like it v_v

In no way am I pushing down Naruto (>.> I am a part Naruto fanboy myself...got myself a Naruto RPG for the GBA...darn but its all in Japanese...) but you can't really compare Naruto to Evangelion...they are pretty much in a different genre altogether.

True, Evangelion may be overrated a bit (okay, more than a bit), but plain, boring, and uneventful? NGE is more of a 'thinker' anime than an 'action' anime such as Naruto. Watching Asuka and the 'main guy' fight all the time? Don't most or all anime revolve around the main characters? (i.e. Samurai Deeper Kyo, Hikaru No Go, Naruto, and just about every other anime...) And the part about Shinji being depressed about 'small things'...IMO I don't consider the purpose of life a small thing. I'd be depressed if I were in his position, with a father who doesn't exactly 'care' about him and a mother who died when he was young. Short...story...flow? IMO again I think that this anime has one of -the- most complex plots in any anime. Whereas DBZ (or any DB series really) concentrates on "Invincible Superheroes who always come out on top", you almost are able to 'feel' the characters themselves, their mindsets, they way they act, etc.

Sure there are some flaws in the animation in a few places (its assumed that Gainax went overbudget and overtime), but the philosophy and facts overrule it in many places (the music too ^^ Cruel Angel's Thesis is my ringtone :sweatdrop: )

So yeah, bottom line:

Naruto>its own genre
NGE>its own genre
DBZ>...no comment...

Sailor Moon. Lordy be, what a load of saccharine! Even the *villains* were wusses! :sick: (A friend of mine used to videotape them and we'd MST3K them while we watched.)

Yeah, the point with LH is that after you've seen the first ep they hardly come up with new jokes, and after Keitaro's been punched into the sky for the 3rd time that's also not funny anymore :P LH is supposed to be funny, but it repeats itself all the time. Boring.

Dragonball was great and was addicting, Dragonball Z is stupid.

You're right, Kappa, but you have to admit: Akira Toriyama wanted to stop at the end of the regular Dragonball, but couldn't because his fans and publishers had torn him in the air for stopping now. It was such a great success, that he couldn't stop so easily. And besides he made good money with it. Say: Would you stop when you earn tons of money with something, even it no quality anymore?. And most of the fans wanted stupid fights with no story behind it. In the 35 volume, he tried to bring back the old qualitys of Dragonball with much fun and story and less fights, but he got tons of complainments, that ther were too less fights and so he got back to stupid fights. I think it's overrated, too, but I defend it.
It was the will of his fans!!!

Yes, I know about DBZ, nevertheless it's boring! I bet I know one of these "fans"...

I hate InuYasha with a burning passion. Sure, it was my first anime, and sure, it was good at the time, but now that I've seen it so much, it NEVER ENDS, Rumiko Takahashi's drawing style SUCKS, and it's starting to hurt my eyes. I can only watch InuYasha about once a...month? The movies' styles are okay, but the plots still suck. :D I'll take Knights of the Zodiac or Reign - The Conqueror any day! XD

Haha, I think people say a series gets overrated when the fever of watching the series too badly had already faded. Like DBZ, all my friends used to say they could'n miss a single show but then, after a year of realizing they have wasted 2 years of their lives. Now they are saying it's crap. For me, I would'nt say naruto is over rated since the series is exceptionally good because it is, it does make you want more but not in a sense like you would be feeling that you would'nt live a day if you did'nt see any part of the action. And the series has MORALS, not like some stupid series that gives you action but depletes your IQ day by day just by watching it. Haha. So yeah, I watch naruto but I would'nt die if I miss it.
