I'm tempted to say, let us not include anime in this thread and save that for the anime forums. Then we'll learn something about people's favourite non-ghibli films too

Best film I've ever seen was The Green Mile. Just love it.

I don't think that's quite fair, as anime can be one's favorite genre. They should be allowed to discuss it in a "BEST Movie" thread. Not to be arguing with the top mod though...

But here's my revised list, without anime:

1. Mary Poppins
2. Wizard of Oz
3. Chicago
4. My Fair Lady
5. Little Miss Sunshine
6. It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World
7. Grease
8. Singin' In The Rain
9. Waking Ned Divine
10. The Devil Wears Prada

If I had to choose just one, I'd think I'll say my classic Independence Day! I think 2nd place goes to Inside Man. Other than that, there is a whole bunch, Rocky 1-Infinite, The Matrix 1-3, The Rock, Every Bruce Lee/ Jackie Chan/Stephen Chow (God of Cookery is one everyone seems to forget) movie, ect, ect, and you get the point.

Elwe

I haven't seen too many movies, but whatever. Also--apparently, I have not lived because I haven't seen "The Breakfast Club." Erm. Yargh!

In no particular order, because I'm indecisive like that:

-Crash ('sup "In the Deep")
-Moulin Rouge (shuttup ='D)
-Lord of the Rings (I mean the P.J. one. ;) The cartoon one was strangely hilarious)
-Finding Neverland <3
-Millenium Actress (I liked this MUCH better than Spirited, Mononoke, Akira, etc. =O *puts on flame-retardant suit*)
-GATTACA (pure awesomess. period. Not quite sure why!)
-Long Life, Happiness, and Prosperity (!)
-I am Sam
-The Hours (haha!)
-Oldboy

And if you're deciding not to count anime, just pretend "Millenium Actress" wasn't there, eh? Anyways, if I were to choose ONE best one, I'd say Oldboy because it's just that awesome.

They have to choose carefully since they will be stuck with that memory forever and the people that help them are actually souls themselves that couldn't get pass the waystation because they have no clue what their cherished memory was and end up helping other souls cross over. I have a long list of "favorite movies," that I realistically can't put in any real order, since they're all so awesome, but whenever I'm forced to pick one, I have to give it to Princess Mononoke, since it's the one that made me start drawing seriously. =)

hmm not favorite but 'best' film. atleast that takes an edge off

cant be sci-fi as plot and acting tend to be slightly worse... hmmm

i think apocalypse now(directors cut, not the trashy one that doesnt make sense) is definatly up there.
ah who cares, i'll through in a sci-fi, 'Silent running' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067756/) the ending to this is perfect

Animation: Spirited Away or Ponyo

Based off anime: Bleach: Fade to black

Live action: It's not a movie but probably the best live action thing I've ever seen is LOST. It's epic funny at times, and very interesting :D

Best horror is Grudge or Ring 0: brithday

Best Drama: I've only seen one drama and that's Tayou no
Uta and I think it's neat that YUI can write music, sing and act very well!

Yes, I agree Up is the best american animation with Monsters inc being my second favorite.
