Hello, I'm new to both this forum and music in general. For some reason this year, my junior year of high school, I decided to pick up the cello and try to learn. I've never done anything with music before so a lot of things don't make sense at all. So please be patient with me.
I've noticed that there's very little sheet music available online for cellos. So I was curious as to what other instruments were in bass clef that wouldn't have perhaps a too difficult range. Or perhaps even a little direction on transposing from another clef. @-@ I suppose what I'm looking for are actual pieces that would be interesting to play outside of class other than scale after scale.
Also, I'm curious if there are any other cellists out here.

Just something that's simply in the same clef? I don't know too much about string instruments, the bassoon should fit the range of the cello pretty well...
What did you play before?

Well, you could always buy sheet music, because it's always hard to find interesting things to play online for free on any instrument.
As for other instruments, there's the double bass, but I doubt that'd make things any easier. There's the bass guitar aswell. Or you could look into more band style instruments.
I myself am a violinist/learning celloist. I mostly play my friends' sheet music when I'm on the cello, or transcribe some of my easier violin music into cello music.

Bassoon (I know, I play), trombone, baritone (bass clef), bari sax (its written in trebel, but if you pretend that its bass clef and keep the notes, then it works (for example trebel clef e (on the line) would be the bass clef G (on the line))). That's all I remember for now. The good thing about cello is that its a concert pitch instrument (or at least I'm pretty sure).

Yep, cello is concert pitched :) . If you were to convert from treble to bass clef (sheet music), just play the treble notes 2 notes lower. (Move up or down octaves if necessary.)

You guys have been so much help. Thank you so much. I'm really excited to get to work on it some more now. :D
And hofodomo01- absolutely nothing. I've been (attempting) music since this september. xD
Chaconne- I want to make sure I'm going to stick with cello before I start spending money, this is kind of a...test phase right now. I've been known to quit a lot. x.x
Ah, concert pitch. I was actually just asking some of my band friends to explain that to me, and they really couldn't. I understand the concept of the concert pitch, but not pitch itself I suppose.

to properly transpose from treble to bass clef, pretend its bass clef while also adding 3 flats or nullifying 3 sharps (if u have 2 sharps in the key for example add 1 flat and so on) i personally dont like string instruments at all (cuz i like tbone btone and tuba) happy cell(o)ing!!
