To anyone who's played this game - with or without finishing it - agrees that this is a really good game with an amazing battle system? Me! lol

It's been amazing so far... I'm really close to finishing the game...The story is filled with so many twists and turns... You'll love it. The battle system is really great to and if I remember correctly, there are 45+ characters. It takes a lot of strategy, too... If you are good at forming strategies as the battle goes on, then this is a really good challenge. Plus, you can play the game from the beginning again and again, and with each time you finish and start again, the game gets harder. ^.^

ooo. how long is it? time wise.

Silverflame

Well, for me, it's taken about 40+ hours, and I'm still not done. But if you skip through sidequests and get on with the main game, it should still take maybe 50+ hours. But, I guess it depends on skill-level of the player.

That was with level grinding. Um... I suppose the first run through might not take that long. There's also a post-game dungeon, which...
You get to test your strength in--if I can remember--5 levels. All the end of the levels contain a boss, and, if you when against the boss of the level, you get main-story characters.

The run through, like maybe numbers 6-7, may take longer. I've heard that there was someone that ran through the entire game in 3-4 hours. That was with skipping the sidequests and scenes.

So is the game (Valkerie Profile 2) like Star Ocean Till the End Time? That's probably my favorite RPG of all time

the little I saw of SO:TTEOT was linear as hell and I dont like that at all... so to make this on topic: is Valkyrie profile 2 linear.... as hell?

Hmm... I guess so... You hardly have choices, but it's still enjoyable. If you want a nonlinear game, check out Radiata Stories or Steambot Chroincles...

lol I've never actually played Steambot, but I've read so previews/reviews about it. Too non-linear, apperently... RS got boring once I finished the Non-human side and I don't feel like finishing the human side of the story. ;p

February 5th, 2007, 03:58 pm
ya. RS got boring for me too....

Silverflame

The only problem is that you ALWAYS have to play Jack... It gets boring having to control a single character for the ENTIRE game and the side story...

cloud__strife
February 12th, 2007, 04:40 pm
ya i completely agree. thats the problem with some of those rpgs. u cant always control any character. u always have to control one character.

Tentenfan

Yeah I hate those. I like a whole bunch of characters. Not just one.

Silverflame
February 16th, 2007, 07:15 pm
That's why VP 2 works so well. You get lots and lots of people to control. Four to a party, and you can split the party into to teams.

oooh. thats cool.XD

Silverflame

lol That's definitely not the end of the battle system. There are many factors that can contribute to the result of the battle. Like...

-You and your enemies have a certain range that they can hit and when they can hit. If you're good and a command known as "dashing" you can practically evade damage for the entire battle.

-There are special stones known as "Sealstones" that give you both negative and positive effects and affect you and the enemies in a certain area. Applying good sealstones to your party--like DEF improvements, ATK and other positive things--can boost your attack and stats. And you can put sealstones unto daises around an area and weaken the enemies.

-Different types of fighters like Mage, Archer, Light Warrior and Heavy Warriors can change the battle:
-Mages: Cast mage (whatelse). Can do major elemental damage, but not recommended for comboing and chains.
-Archer: Most are really good with using spells and chaining combos, which means very useful. They, of course, have the most range with normal attacks. Camp Menu spells have MUCH higher range, and give you another benefit in battle...
-Light Warriors: These are the best attackers in the entire game, personally, because they can attack a lot more and chain. They don't use a lot of AP to attack and you gain a lot of AP for knocking the enemies down.
-Heavy Warriors: They do the MOST damage, but are very sluggish and their attacks take a while to chain... No futher comments...

-Camp Menu commands... Hmm... Spells that are can be used here... Useful... They can weaken, damage, and strengthen respectfully.

-Skills can power-up your characters and can allow them to do more damage to certain enemy types.

That's pretty much all I can remember...
