So basically
-just answer the question "can you cook?" maybe give a reason why you can or cannot
or
-share a cooking experience
or
-share some recipes or fun little food things you like to make!

I'll start. let's see, i can't cook because i am not comfortable around knives and hot things, plus my parents think i might blow up the kitchen or something.(ok actually i did blow up something but it was the drink i was making and I'm goign to share it with you guys!)

Cranberrycoke
this drink is really easy to make, the thing is, it might explode
so first you pour some cranberry juice and coke or pepsi(they all taste the same) into a shaker or cup that you can shake.(DON'T shake too vigorously because the top will come off if you don't have a tight grip on the cup. Then fill another cup with CRUSHED ice, pour the drink in and enjoy!

another one i like to make is hot coca, shaken not stirred. Just be aware that hot milk will explode.

are sandwiches, scrambled eggs and microwaveables considered cooking? if so; YES *proud*

Cooking Experience:
Scrambled eggs and pancake flipping motion will not result in something cool, it'll just make hot eggs land on you and force you to clean up the kitchen.

Recipe: My comfort food

Cold mashed potatoes, BBQ sauce, microwave.
Mix until sauce and mashed potatoes have a color between...blood and puke, then microwave.

Eat warm infront of the TV. ALWAYS with a spoon.

There's a thread kinda like this, but doesn't really matter.

Shoving something in the oven doesn't count as cooking if you haven't done any preparation beforehand.

Shoving something in the microwave....if you can't do that at 8 years old, don't even attempt to cook. Microwaving is just heating something up, not cooking.

Microwaving something counts as cooking if you do it with enough style... Shoving it in obviously doesn't count as very stylish but finessing it in does, bonus points if you use a kitchen utensil (non-pointy) to push the buttons.

As for an experience... Well that'd have to be my first attempt at frying rice (And silly me I didn't ask my mother...) I ended up with rice that was well, tolerable. (Too little frying...)

I cook a little. I've baked sugar cookies with icing and vanilla/lemon cake. I've also made mini meringues. Besides that, all I make is like... beef steak, rice, scrambled eggs, etc.

*is a bread artisan* Sadly I cannot release a recipe for anyone. Everything's under contract; I would be fined and lose my current job.

Experience:

There were two things that I've done wrong in my entire baking career: 1) I didn't change the units on the scale when measuring out the yeast. Therefore instead of 1 lb worth of yeast in a bagel, we had 1 kilo worth. Two words, big bagels.

And 2) I mixed up salt and sugar when making sweet muffins.

Yes I can! My parents own a deli and a restaurant so I have to cook whenever I work or it gets too busy. It's hard cooking for 30 people at once. Someone should try it once in a while. It's sometimes fun to yell back at the customer who tries to cheat you out by not paying their bill but say they have.

I've learned how to (and still learning!) cook from my parents. My dad worked at a restaurant when he was younger (chinese restaurant.....) and learned more on cooking by watching the cooks there. ..... And learned gourmet foods from the Navy cooks he hung out with..... >_>
Either way, I can pretty much cook a lot of things..... rice (Is this considered cooking? All you do is put it in the rice cooker..... >_>), lo mein, meats, pancakes, eggs (suck at flipping -.-), vegetables, and other crap. Here's the recipe for Crab Rangoons.....

Ingredients:
Cream Cheese
Artificial crab meat (that's what I use..... I think you can use other crap, but.....)
Wonton skins (square)

Preperation:
1: At a 2:1 ratio (2 ounces of cream cheese for 1 ounce of crab meat..... or was it the other way around? Hm..... >_>), mix together cream cheese and shredded up crab meat.
2: Beat an egg. It's used to hold the skin together.
3: Place a small amount of cream cheese/crab meat in the center of the wonton skin. Fold one corner past the cream cheese towards the opposite corner, like you're making a taco or something. (...) Then, placing your knife (or whatever crap you're using..... knife works best though. Butter knife, that is.) to keep the point in place, roll the wonton skin so that the small corner will be overlapped. That way, it will be secure. Then you fold the two corners of the wonton skin towards each other. Apply some of the beaten egg to the corners and attach them.

Cooking:
..... >_>
1: Preheat a deep fryer to..... um..... 350 degrees? ..... Okay, just go google the recipe..... -.-;

I can make pancakes and scrambled eggs...that's all, in terms of actually cooking.

Weird crap I like to eat:

CROUTON SNACK:

1 bowl of croutons
Salad dressing

BREAD SNACK:

Take a couple slices of baguette bread. Drench in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Top with butter and/or goat cheese. Enjoy.

I can't really 'cook' per se, but I improvise sometimes. Like if my parents aren't home, I can make brekfast or lunch. No, not cold cereal and milk, but I do settle for that often. I also make drinks sometimes, like the stuff you normally find at the store...

No fishy???!

Urm.. i could live on my cooking. Mainly make desserts, other meals are just made out of things i find in the fridge/cupboards, unless it's something special

Easy dinner, not too much washing up or mess (well for me  )

Shove some rice in the rice cooker.
Mean while slice garlic, dice somes onions and chop chicken breast into easy to chew sizes. Open small can of sweetcorn and half can of chicken soup. Fry garlic and onions till sligtly brown (begins to smell nice ^__^) Then fry chicken till it's cooked, add the sweetcorn and chicken soup, you can add some water or milk if you prefer the sauce to be thinner. Simmer till it's all nice and hot. Then eat with the rice! ^__^ yummehhh!

I adore cooking *_*
I'm not the best, but I'm always trying to become better ^^

I have a fetish for cooking appetizers for some apparent reason... ^^;
My current favorite thing to cook are these Pita-chip things...I got the recipe from a book but i dont remember where it is D: So...I'll try to share it the best i can @_@

ingredients:
pita bread
olive oil
chopped garlic
salt
pepper
thyme

first, slice up the pita bread into little strips and put them on a cookie tray. then mix um... maybe 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the garlic together, and then brush it onto the pita strips (im sorry...i cant remember exact amounts...i usually eye measurements -_-; ). then sprinkle salt and pepper and the thyme on the strips...dont overseason though D:
after they're prepared pop them in the oven (um...i usually do it at 375 degrees?) and take them out when they look crispy, but not burnt.

i know this recipe is choppy (i really need to find the damn cook book i got it from) but these pita chips are addictingly good, i swear *__*

I bake a lot...like cakes, biscuits.
Oh, but once, I put 160g of Icing Sugar into my Vienesse Fingers instead of 40g...And they got stuck on the baking tray. Yeah, it wasn't fun trying to scrape them off...
I can also make bread, and I tried to make those Chinese style egg tarts. They were nice ^_^

I've never tried to, but isn't there a special dough to make them?
I'm not sure, but it's called something like 'Danneroll' here in my country.
It's like a sheet of dough that you can roll and if you put it in the oven it pops into a croissant..
(I'm not sure whether this counts as actually making them though, since you don't really have to actually make the dough anymore).

Yes, I cook.

Pork Fried Rice (Seafood style)

Ingredients: half-cup of Oyster sauce
a pot of white rice
a cupfull of peas and carrots (chopped).
a half-cup of chopped scallions.
roast pork cutlets (you can get them from most chinese resturants or meat markets.)
cooking oil
a freaking wok.

Instructions: turn the heat on to medium, and wait for the wok to heat up for about a minute. Place your hands directly over the wok to feel if any heat is rising. Once you feel that the heat is beginning to rise from the wok, pour 5 tablespoons of cooking oil of your choice and wait one and a half minute. (The reason being is you dont want the oil to be too cold so your rice will be oily and you dont want the oil to be too hot as it will explode and burn you everywhere.) Put the white rice in and stir for a few minutes. dump in the peas and carrots, stir again for a few minutes, repeat but this time dump in pork, repeat again and dump in chopped scallions. Make sure you stir well so that the oil distributes evenly and that the flavor is extracted from the veggies and meat to the rice. After a few more minutes dump the oyster sauce all around the rice and stir one last time for a few minutes.
(Note if you would like to add eggs to this recipie then you must fry the eggs first before you place the rice as the eggs wont get cooked quickly and instead of fried rice you get sticky egg rice, which is another recipie for another day.)

You can add any other condiments if you wish but please do not stir the condiments with the rice because the rice is already saturated with flavors from the different ingredients. However, it can be stirred individually by the eaters discression.

Note that the oyster sauce is relatively strong, therefore the ratio of oyster sauce to everything else must be around 1/8. If you wish to use soy sauce, then use it really little (around 1/24) because soy sauce is incredibly strong, and you already have oyster sauce in the rice which will only amplify the sourness of the dish.

If you wish to not have the seafood flavor involved, then you are free to remove the oyster sauce ingredient and replace with with a sauce or seasoning of your liking (sesame sauce is reccommended).

Most important of all, enjoy the dish!

After I watch someone cook a dish, I'll be able to make it pretty well. I generally stick to the basic things like soups, pastas, stirfry, cookies/brownies, etc. My learning to cook consists of either watching the Food Network, or hovering over my Mom. Even though I'm pretty competent, my Mom still thinks I'll cause some kind of accident, like setting something on fire.

Cooking's actually relatively not too hard. What really matters is the preparation and adding ingredients and stuff. Hopefully, I'll actually get to HANDLE raw meat sometime soon....... I know how to cook a lot of things, and very well too, but to be self sufficient with providing myself with the nourishment I've grown up with, I must learn to prepare the food. >_>
. . . I've lost count on how many times oil/water has jumped out of the pan and attacked me. It stings, but doesn't hurt. >_>
