Does anybody that lives in the Los Angeles area know of a private teacher lesson thing for the violin? If not =( whats usually the price ranges for private lessons from cheapest to like the middleish part. Do private teachers usually come to your house? or do you go to their work place, and do you pay them daily or weekly or monthly? Thank you for your answers =)

I take private lessons for piano and have been for the past 11 years. Trust me, if you want a good teacher that will help you excel you're going to have to dish out the big bucks. We'll maybe not that big. I'm not going to say how much I pay, but it is quite a bit. Anyway, I usually pay once a month for four or five lessons depending on how many weeks there are. This will differ depending on your teacher, but all the teachers I have had (5 or 6 (i've moved around quite a bit)) wanted to be paid monthly.
I go to her studio at Capital University, but occasionally when I have to make up a lesson I'll go to her house. Every teacher I've had I've done at his or her house. Some teachers will come to your house (like if they go through the company "Piano lessons in your home" or some other rubbish like that) but mostly you'll have to go to either their home or studio (if you go through a studio). If you go through your (in your case) school orchestra director (if you're in orchestra) you might have it at the school. But more than likely you're going to be the one traveling to meet them.

Teachers are different. The higher levels usually are more expensive and don't come to your house. some do. My teacher asks for about $60 an hour and i go to his house. some ask for 24 or 25 per hour. Some teachers ask you to pay weekly like mine. They even have their own payment methods

My teacher charges a dollar a minute, 30 for 30 minutes, 45 for 45 minutes, etc...

... ummm what do you mean by 400,000? yen? or dollars??? Suzuki is not necessarily harder depending on the teacher's method or style. Traditional can be very challenging as well.

If you're in high-school you could perform for birthdays and stuff like that. That's what I did and it was rather profitable.

Yeah maybe in the summer when i have time. 3 hours of practice, 8 hours of school, like 5 hours of homework, and an hour for piano practice and about 3 hours of sleep doesn't help. Yeah my mom wants me to be a lawyer and a pro violinist. I have played at some events like weddings but not a lot. sometimes you get paid pretty well though. At one wedding they offered me like $60 and all i had to do was play the Meditation from Thais. Ever heard of it? I might do some performing in the summer. I have a competition this saturday (In the US) . If i win the grand prize, it is like $2000 or something close to that.

Good Luck! My mo wanted me to become a Doctor but instead I'm getting a Doctorates in Music instead of Medical. I LOVE music! The Thais Meditation is so beautiful!

Yeah i didn't like it at first but i gradually came to love music. The only problem is my mom signs me up for different things without telling me. She also said that i had to participate in my school mock trial team. Yeah. The Meditation is awesome.

30 minutes^_^ It's still plenty of time for me. Because it allows us to work on one song and start to learn another....or something like that. :heh:
