No replies to this yet? What's wrong with this forum? Chrono Trigger was one of the best games ever made!

I tryed it out, but never finished it. Like the music, the rest not so much. Dragonball charakters... Dont like them at all. And the girl looks like the one in secret of mana. Why!!

Dragonball characters? So they're by the same character designer, big deal, other than that they're totally unrelated. A little narrow-minded to leave such a great game for such a stupid reason, but then again, your loss.

Well. Now when I think a little more of it. I had it on PSone. But the loading before battles was the more acctuall reason why I stoped playing it. I have a snes, I might get the real one and give a second chance.

Hmm,, haha. I just come to realize. I have a snes compilation on my cube. I will try it out and see if its out of loading time.

I don't recall any loading times for battles. You might be mixing it up with Chrono Cross.

i remember this game...awesome
it's amazing how good older RPGs are compared to newer ones,
no offense to the ones today cuz i like em too, but few things imo can top the beauty of SNES RPGS X]

I am not mixing them. Since I mentioned snes in my sentence... I love Chrono Cross BTW.

Final fantasy chronicles contains both final fantasy IV and Chrono Trigger. But if If you had no loading. It might have been a bad burn or a homemade emulation. My friend had it too (he loves trigger) but did not play the psone version for the same reason as I.

No, it probably loaded because you had the crappy ps1 version instead of the original SNES version. XD

CDs = loading
Carts = old school goodness.

Find the real one, and then play it through. If you're any kind of RPG fan, you'll fall in love with the game. ^_^

Carts still load. Big misconception people had.

KH:CoM had the biggest load time of any game I personally own.

Carts don't load nearly as long as CD's. If you found a cart that actually had bad load times, the programmers or manufacturers must have sucked ass.

That's not true. Ever wonder why Zelda: A link to the past scrolled the screens over the way it did? How about those elevators in Super Metroid that made you wait ten seconds? Those weren't coincidences you know. ;)
But yeah, carts really shouldn't load very often...

I've played hundreds of cartridge games and no noticable loading times. The scrolling in Zelda I don't consider notacible, I don't know about Metroid, but I don't believe that a cartridge game can have ten seconds of loading time. Unless you have actual prove that this is all for loading, then I simply can't believe you =/

I'm also with Angelic on this one. By nature, a cartridge game does NOT have the "all-loving" load times like the games of today. Why? Well it comes from the fact that all of the game memory comes from either a ROM chip or an EEPROM chip across a bridge of 18/16/32 direct pipes (depending on which console system). That's the same technology that feeds your ram on your computer.

You don't have to believe me. I read an interview with some nintendo designer before though, and he compared the elevators in metroid prime with the one's in super metroid, saying they were for the same thing - to cover load times. I'm not sure where I saw the zelda thing, maybe the same article. And yeah, the screen scrolling over counts as a noticeable load time in my book. Not annoying or intrusive like today's load times obviously, but if you can *see it happening* that makes it noticeable.

As a side note, I love nintendo's programmers; they're all pretty amazing. Read about how they made the first metroid, it's pretty cool. Also, I can't think of any nintendo games with any real load times, even when they're on CDs. That's pretty good there. :3

My computer loads....a lot.... :(

Edit: I must admit, I was hard-pressed to find any mention of loading times on the SNES, besides what I already stated. (Obviously....) Anyway:
" I should also mention the "loading" times. Yes, you read it right, this cartridge forces you to wait about ten seconds between stage segments. I can only assume they compressed the data in order to save memory and minimize manufacturing costs."
lol, a disney game. So yes, apparently cartridges shouldn't load, but they can if the game is epic enough/if the developers are cheap/bad enough. = \

Unless you have a link to that article I simply won't believe you. Sorry but everyone can shout out stuff without having proof, and a lot of people just shout out rubbish.

Hah, that's pretty insulting, but whatever. Which article did you want? Like I think I've already said, I can't find the first one. Did you want the review of the disney game? I could probably find that again, though it'd be a waste of my time, since you think low enough of me to suggest that I'd make up random crap to win an argument about snes carts.

....

<_<

Edit: Tried finding that old article again out of indignation. No luck; sorry.
Anyway, I think it should be obvious to you that SNES carts loaded enough to be noticeable. Chrono Trigger has a noticeable pause before every battle starts. Super Metroid has it's elevators. Zelda has it's screen scrolling. Do you think the odd pauses, obnoxiously long elevator rides, and strange screen transitions were design choices?

The SNES Final Fantasy games released on Anthology for the PSX had really infuriating load times.

Have you ever thought about how big each section is for Metroid and Zelda? Due to their magnitude I think it's fair that there is going to be load times, though they really are quite minimal and not very noticeable. I'd rather be going up an elevator that to see a black screen with a bar at the bottom and LOADING written in big white letters.

Same thing with Mario 64. Load times were negligable as opposed to the various 3D platformers that were released on the PSX

I'm not denying the presence of load times on cartridges, but to say they are more apparant compared to CD based games is ridiculous.

Ah, let them fire away...I'm learning some stuff too...but it has to stop at some point anyway...
Back to the topic...Chrono Trigger= the best game I ever played.
It's alot easier than the other games I played so far. The first game I'd master too.
My favorite characters are Gato, Lucca, Magus, Crono, Ayla... I think I like all the characters.
I'm trying to get all the endings. My favorite place in the game should be...Zeal. I love the Nus, oh and I even watched the OVA on youtube.
I was playing Chrono Cross...but...it seems sorta...not that fun, but the story is interesting...

loading time is... sorry...

Chrono trigger, one of my top 5 games.
reason:
the music, is awesome except one of the lavos songs...
all those little details, like the different endings...
the musik again...
and the great story/characters.

Theres a difference between loading times and processing time though. A level needs to be built up by the CPU into the RAM of the computer, that has nothing to do with memory access speed but with processing speed. That's not loading though.
